installing linux-rt kernel solved my problem, the latest available version is 2.6.27-3 so less then -5 where problems start. same problem here, ubuntu 8.10 (Linux 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan
29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux) this is a really annoying bug,
freezes access to disk for half a minute, causing for example music
stoping to play, preventing launching new applications... though for
instance i am able to switch between windows or scroll the already
opened web page in the firefox - this MUST be fixed before 9.04
