[Bug 1254085] Re: ssh fails to connect to VPN host - hangs at 'expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY'
Has there been any recent updates on this? I have a network setup with tunnels between Cisco routers as the egress points for each remote site and am having the same problems when attempting to SSH from a host inside of one site to the other. Again, MTU related. I hope there is a permanent fix in the works as it is cumbersome to have to change the MTU of each individual machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254085 Title: ssh fails to connect to VPN host - hangs at 'expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1254085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Since the DF bit is set and PMTUD is being disobeyed, I discovered that MSS is obeyed. I'm having a similar issue running 12.04 with the Trusty hardware enablement stack; kernel v3.13. I have the MCP51 controller and get random protocol flaps even with the physical link still up. This causes problems as I have an NFS auto mounted home directory. My only workaround has been to spawn a root shell on tty1 and reboot. [Bug 991642] [NEW] NTP peers stuck in INIT when using the BCM4313 wl kernel module in 12.04
Public bug reported: I'm unsure if the root cause of this problem is within the kernel module or NTP itself. However, using the same 'ntp.conf' over a wired connection, it works as it is supposed to. When using the config over the wireless, all peers are stuck in INIT. Changing servers does nothing, everything I have tried yields the same result. I am, however, able to use ntpdate with servers that are stuck in INIT in ntpd any they work just fine. Using ntptrace on the same servers work as well. In short, over wireless, I have not been able to get any server to get past INIT in ntpd (both IPv4 and IPv6) but, using the same servers with ntpdate, ntptrace, etc. work just fine. [Bug 870874] Re: LDAP user with automounted nfs homedir cannot login
I can also confirm the presence of this bug. I have been running the same LDAP and NFS servers/setups since 2008. My LDAP and NFS servers are running 8.04 and I have never had this problem until using 11.10 as a client. This is also a fresh install and the posted workaround works; however, I chose to just move the script out of the directory altogether and save a backup copy in root's home directory for the time being. I believe this bug should be marked as medium to high importance as it hinders the ability for any production level networks to function properly that require the use of LDAP and NFS for roaming profiles. [Bug 794698] Re: hardy custom binary kernels have incorrect version reported in /proc/version_signature
Not sure if this is related or if I am doing something wrong, but this looks like it is also present in Lucid. I built a custom kernel to add PPS support. The first version went well, however re-building with newer (or older) source from the Git repos yields '/proc/version_signature' to lie. My first build was with 2.6.32-33.66; version sig is correct, was also running native 2.6.32-33.66 at the time. The next was with 2.6.32-33.72; version sig still says 2.6.32-33.66, running 2.6.32-33.66 w/PPS patch at the time. Last test was with 2.6.32-28.55; version sig still says 2.6.32-33.66, running 2.6.32-33.72 w/PPS patch at the time. Tried on two systems...any one have any ideas why this is happening? Clint, I appreciate your assistance with this but I am sorry to say that I believe I've wasted your time. Which, in retrospect, makes sense as to why occasionally I would experience a hardware hang on reboots every now and again as well as why a hard boot seems to be the only way to recover. [Bug 621509] Re: mysqld randomly causes system to not respond to commands
Clint, the last time this happened, I watched the system attempt to reboot when issued from command line via console. It appears the reboot sequence hangs on attempting to halt mysqld. As far as I can tell, I belive something in conjuction with Cacti and MySQL is causing this problem. It seems to happen when Cacti is still waiting for a response from a busy client it is monitoring and then the poller fires up another check while the one prior is still waiting. Once enough of these get backed up, it does something to cause mysqld to go rogue and that's when my problems start. I might also add that I have spine running with Cacti which was not a default package for 8.04. Thus, I pulled down spine from the 8.10 respositories as well as all the necessary dependencies. I fear this might be the root cause. Either way, I am planning on replacing this system all together with a new one, at which time it will run 10.04. So in short, I believe something I did might be causing this. I hate sounding like a broken record, down talking the community and the last thing I want to do is sound like an @$$hole, but this is sort of what I wanted to here. That this IS confirmed as an issue with NVidia and not and issue with compiz itself. If that is the case, that's all someone had to say. Wish I would have gotten a straight answer like this months ago. Guess I'll just keep updating NVidia drivers until, hopefully, one fixes it. [Bug 425160] Re: compiz.real crashed with SIGSEGV in glXBindTexImageEXT()
You shouldn't have to revert to 32-bit or opt not to install a package to get it to function properly. Although, your efforts will help in locating where the problem is; the bottom line is someone needs to acknowledge this and fix it. Someone obviously wrote the bad code and needs to take ownership and fix it. I'm not trying to down talk anyone here as this is all open source and created based on people donating their time and their expertise, but I have been plagued by this problem since the release of Karmic. And since it has been confirmed by others in Lucid (an LTS), I would think someone would want to help us resolve this issue. On a personal note, I think Ubuntu is getting to far ahead of itself. In the recent releases, I believe there has been far too many new things added (including new bugs) and not enough fixing of the existing problems. This is taking away from what Ubuntu was originally promised to be, a user-friendly rock-solid operating system. I'm almost to the point to where I might switch to back Debian. To date, I believe Hardy is, was, and always will be the best Ubuntu release unless things start to change. -- compiz.real crashed with SIGSEGV in glXBindTexImageEXT() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425160 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, this approach is insufficient, 11711 because TSO/GSO is turned off only for newly created frames, not for 11712 frames which were already pending at the arrival of a message with 11713 MSG_OOB set. These frames were created when TSO/GSO was enabled, 11714 so they may be large, and they will have the urgent pointer set 11715 in tcp_transmit_skb(). 11716 11717 With this patch, such large packets will be fragmented again before 11718 going to the transmit routine. 11719 11720 As a side note, at least the following NICs are known to screw up 11721 the urgent pointer in the TCP header when doing TSO: 11722 11723 Intel 82566MM (PCI ID 8086:1049) 11724 Intel 82566DC (PCI ID 8086:104b) 11725 Intel 82541GI (PCI ID 8086:1076) 11726 Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 (PCI ID 14e4:164c) 11727 11728 Signed-off-by: Petr Tesarik ptesa...@suse.cz 11729 Signed-off-by: David S. [Bug 569610] Re: Kernel unaligned access at TPC causing network/system to become slow and/or unresponsive
Thanks for the quick response, Jeremy. Unfortunately, I cannot test the latest development release image as this is a production system. However, I can test the latest upstream kernel for you. I might also add the current kernel I am running is 2.6.24-27.69. I poked around the kernel upstream site and was wondering which kernel you would like me to try. I'm guessing ... 2.6.34-999.201004261005 (daily/current) As I don't see any recent build of mainline 2.6.24.6 (2.6.24-27.69). Either way, it looks as I may have to compile it as there is no sparc64-smp deb package. Also, I have no real way to replicate this issue as it just starts appearing all of a sudden. I only caught it when my system became sluggish after a while. I'll have to watch the logs to catch it in action. When I do, shall I run the command you posted above? Yes, I know this. What I was getting at is you cannot simply run the command in a root shell since once you close the shell (aka logout) the overrides get lost. [Bug 431091] Re: libstdc++5 removal breaks non-ubuntu applications
The majority decision here is actually the proper one to take. At some point in time, for all software, a decision has to be made when to deem a package no longer supported it favor of its successor. I realize this causes problems for some, however the individual packages that depend upon said package in question should be re-compiled and re-released. Two options to solve this are; 1) download source and and compile yourself using libstdc++6. 2) File a bug with the developer of said packages that still depend upon libstdc++5. -- libstdc++5 removal breaks non-ubuntu applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/431091 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, this bug only now shows itself because of this bug, #411350, being fixed. Is there any debug commands I can run to assist in a fix? Although not a major concern, this is rather frustrating. -- Compiz crashes on unlocking screensaver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 478710] Re: dvd::rip does not complete ripping of disc via gui in karmic
I'm good with that. Since we have a patch and now have an idea of what the root cause maybe, if we choose to pursue this issue it will be in a package that dvd::rip depends on rather than in dvd::rip itself. [Bug 495121] Re: Compiz crashes on unlocking screensaver
I can also confirm this bug. I have noticed compiz.real crashes with a segfault in libglcore.so while system is under load with the screensaver active. Judging from timestamps within the logs, it appears the crash happens while the screensaver is active rather that upon unlocking it. Again, I only notice this when the system is under load while the screensaver is active. Key log info line... [Bug 478710] Re: dvd::rip does not complete ripping of disc via gui in karmic
So I did a rip of a unencrypted disc and it worked 100% fine -- no errors at all. Jörn, your patch helps in that we do not have to re- start dvd::rip. But after finding that an unencrypted disc works, this leads me to think you may be on to something about the TOC, CSS and the number of frames. By having this work with an unencrypted disc I am now wondering if this maybe an issue with libdvdcss? That or what you were saying about possible new methods of encryption on a disc. Regardless, I am happy to report with the patch to toss up the warning, I have not yet had any problems what so ever transcoding and backing up discs! :) -- dvd::rip does not complete ripping of disc via gui in karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Black Trenchcoat, try this... dpkg -l | grep execflow wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/e/event-execflow /libevent-execflow-perl_0.64-0ubuntu1_all.deb sudo dpkg -i libevent- execflow-perl_0.64-0ubuntu1_all.deb dpkg -l | grep execflow You should see v0.63 installed before hand and v0.64 afterwords.
