Already installed the kernel .debs.
Just need to get home and force restart the machine, because the balance
kernel bug stops server from restarting using normal methods. Need to
use finger in button method :)

I can indeed confirm that upgrading to AMD Catalyst 12.6 Beta fixed the
problem.
I build the .deb package from the install file using the internal build
process:
sh ./amd-driver-installer-8.98-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise

I can confirm this bug, but i do not believe it is pulseaudio related.
I am experiencing the exact same problems with a new install of Ubuntu
12.04 Server Edition without pulseaudio, with standard alsa sound,
lightdm and xbmc eden.
I believe the problem is Kernel or AMD Drivers related.
