[Bug 1087920] Re: gimp crashes after save as
As I just posted on #1048657 , I had this crash bug in 2.6 and 2.8. It had apparently been caused by an inadvertent substitution of my .X display manager. This substitution also caused shell scripts running as root (on system startup) to fail .X related tasks due to a bad MIT magic cookie and and a lack of proper authorization (gdm was changing the XAUTHORITY cookie directory for my main login at every reboot, so the root user couldn't link to that cookie) In any case sudo apt-get install --reinstall lightdm unity-greeter rm ~/.Xresources rm ~/.Xauthority #without this (and possibly the one above) you may have difficulty logging in to your primary user account sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm #select lightdm, rather than gdm, etc echo -e /usr/sbin/lightdm | sudo tee /etc/X11/default-display-manager #this may have been redundant -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087920 Title: gimp crashes after save as To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1087920/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1048657] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 / Gimp - Consistent crash after saving file
I had the same GTK_IS_TREE_MODEL message in 2.6 (i don't remember gimp_wire_read being part of my problem) in 2.8 I had gimp-2.8 crashed with SIGSEGV in completion_match_func both were immediately after Save As (2.6) or Export As (2.8) a PNG input file as a PNG (with a new name) It seems that my issue may have been related to my Xauthority system. For some reason, my login screen had been replaced with gdm and lightdm, although installed, was not default. Reinstalling lightdm and reconfiguring it while wiping out my .Xauthority file seems to have cured my woes. Now 2.8 works like a charm. Before I cleared out my /home/username/.Xauthority I had some problems logging in as my default user, so you may want to have a spare account to log into. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1048657 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 / Gimp - Consistent crash after saving file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1048657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1187376] [NEW] Problem with Ubuntu 13.04
Public bug reported: Hi Team, I have a problem with my Ubuntu 13.04. All was well until I updated some Service Pack and Advanced System Care application for the Windows XP Operating System on the same computer. I had stopped using Windows XP after liking Ubuntu 13.04 so much. Then, for some reason I thought of logging into XP just to ensure that everything was well. However after those updates Ubuntu 13.04 has got corrupted. I am not a technically familiar person so attaching photos I captured (It actually does not allow me to do anything post that screen). I have to manually restart the computer. Again after logging in it only stays for a minute or two. Then it crashes. Please advice how I should be proceeding with the troubleshooting. I tried: sudo apt-get upgate sudo apt-get upgrade -d sudo apt-get autoclean Also, I tried the recovery option however it does not help. Please help me.
