[Bug 1882966] [NEW] Recent updates to some packages make it impossible to build an Orca Master in Ubuntu-MATE 20.04

2020-06-10 Thread Maksym Bilak
Public bug reported:

The recent update of the libatk-bridge2.0-0 libatk-bridge2.0-dev and
libatk-adapter packages makes it impossible to build Orca Master in
Ubuntu-MATE 20.04. Reproduction steps:

1. You need to have Ubuntu-MATE 20.04 with the latest updates;

2. Install the following packages:

git autoconf autopoint yelp-tools libgstreamer1.0-dev python-gi-dev
libatspi2.0-dev libatk-bridge2.0-dev

3. Clone the Orca repository:

git clone https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/orca.git

4. Navigate to the cloned repository:

cd orca

5. Run the command:

./autogen.sh

The command output ends with the following lines:

checking for ATKBRIDGE... no
configure: error: Package requirements (atk-bridge-2.0 >= 2.26) were not met:
Package 'atk', required by 'atk-bridge-2.0', not found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables ATKBRIDGE_CFLAGS
and ATKBRIDGE_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

If libatk-bridge2.0-0 libatk-bridge2.0-dev and libatk-adapter are
forcibly downgraded to version 2.34.1-3, this error disappears.

Many thanks for fixing this issues.

@Gunnar: I believe that we have temporarily solved the problem. That is,
we did everything in our power to give MATE developers time to fix this
bug, and also released a temporary fix for users. I will try to keep
track of the situation by installing libmatekbd from Github.

has already been fixed, but the packages related to MATE have not been updated.
Yes, I confirm what Yuri wrote. The last file is working.

[Bug 1875020] Re: Update Ukrainian language pack to fix mate-keyboard-properties crash

2020-05-09 Thread Maksym Bilak
In fact, this bug has been around for a long time, but I was the first to tell
MATE developers about this problem.
But at the same time, MATE is currently the most accessible desktop environment
for blind users. This bug frightened users because it prevented them from
configuring keyboard shortcuts to switch between keyboard layouts. So I asked
Yuri to intervene. I hope that MATE developers will fix this problem; But by
updating the appropriate package, we will solve this problem for some time for
users from Ukraine.
I also apologize for wasting your time.

[Bug 1875020] Re: Update Ukrainian language pack to fix mate-keyboard-properties crash

2020-05-09 Thread Maksym Bilak
@Gunnar: I did a little research:

1.

sudo apt purge language-pack-uk language-pack-gnome-uk

2.

mate-keyboard-properties

Everything worked fine, but the interface was in English;

3.

sudo apt install language-pack-uk language-pack-gnome-uk

4.

mate-keyboard-properties

Crash again;

5. I put the corrected translation file as described here:

https://github.com/mate-desktop/libmatekbd/issues/55

6.

mate-keyboard-properties

Everything is working fine.

I can assume that we put the wrong file in the update. (

[Bug 1875020] Re: Update Ukrainian language pack to fix mate-keyboard-properties crash

2020-05-08 Thread Maksym Bilak
@Gunnar: I use Proposed by default, but have now checked. APT claims
that I have the latest versions of packages, regardless of whether
Proposed is enabled or disabled.

language-pack-gnome-uk (1:20.04+20200505).

language-pack-uk (1:20.04+20200505).

I always review the command output before updating packages:

sudo apt list --upgradable

Today, the language-pack-uk-base package update was received from the Proposed
repository.
By the way: DPKG claims that the file xkeyboard-config.mo belongs to the
language-pack-uk package.

Please apologize for the question below, but I want to make sure I understood
everything correctly.
Focal-Proposed updates should include language-pack-uk and
language-pack-gnome-uk, and should I check if everything works?
So far, I ve received an update to the language-pack-uk-base package, but it
contains an old file. Mate-keyboard-properties crashes.

аAdditionally, I would like to ask the following:

1. Please also update the appropriate package for Ubuntu 20.04;

2. Please make this update part of a future Ubuntu 20.04.1 ISO image.

I will be grateful if you consider my wishes.
