[Bug 1307093] Re: VirtualBox saved VM resume causes SEGFAULT in i965_dri.so

2014-10-03 Thread Mark Jackson
I also performed another test ... if I leave the guest at the login
prompt, I can suspend / resume without any problems.

It's only when I actually login (so that the Unity launcher is visible)
that it segfaults when I suspend / resume.

FYI ... I've also tried installing an Ubuntu 14.04 guest (as opposed to
the original 12.04 guest) and it does the same thing.

[Bug 1070958] Re: Touchpad not working but USB mouse working

2013-05-04 Thread Mark Jackson
Just to update things now that 13.04 is out.

This is *still* not working without the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX fix as per
above.

AFAICT 13.04 doesn't even sense any touchpad (just a quick scan of the
boot log doesn't show anything obvious)

Adding the GRUB fix, makes the touchpad work.

But this isn't ideal, as some of the touchpad features (such as ignore
touchpad when typing) are not available.

[Bug 411542] Re: [Upstream] Impress very slow due to Anti-Aliasing

2012-10-25 Thread Mark Jackson
I can confirm this still exists in 12.04 64bit running LibreOffice 3.5.4.2.
I'm running a Core i5-2500K with 8Gig RAM and an nVidia GT440.

As a simple test, create a new doc, place a large smiley object, zoom in.
Now scroll up / down with (and without) AA enabled to see the difference in
speed.

[Bug 1016525] [NEW] taskbar colors sometimes wrong when using gnome classic

2012-06-22 Thread Mark Jackson
Public bug reported:

Running 12.04 with Gnome Classic (rather than Unity).

I've noticed than the bottom taskbar colours are wrong (screenshot
taskbar_bad.png).

However, if you repeatedly minimise / restore a window, they eventually
sort themselves out (screenshot taskbar_good.png).

But on the next click, the colours go wrong again.

I've tested with with both the Ambience and Adwaita themes, and it
occurs in both.

[Bug 981289] Re: Window list entries colored in white instead of dark (GNOME Classic / Ambiance theme)

2012-06-22 Thread Mark Jackson
I also have this problem, and know how to recreate it under 12.04 +
Gnome Classic.

The bottom taskbar colours are wrong, but if you repeatedly minimise /
restore a window, they eventually sort themselves out.

But on the next click, the colours go wrong again.

Hope that helps ...

[Bug 969527] Re: Rythmbox many errors when importing to library

2012-04-30 Thread Mark Jackson
The error Rhythmbox states is that it can't resolve some of the
dependencies when installing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

If you do a manual ...

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

... this installs all the required files. A quick restart of Rhythmbox
and all imports appear to work fine.

[Bug 717470] [NEW] gcalctool can't handle commas when converting between bases

2011-02-11 Thread Mark Jackson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

(1) Enable Show thousands separators
(2) Select Programming mode
(3) Select Decimal
(4) Enter 1024
(5) Change the base to Hexadecimal
(6) Incorrect result ... we get 1024 interspersed with subscript 10s

If you now disable Show thousands separators and repeat, we get the
correct value displayed.

I think the commas must be confusing the string parser.

[Bug 128313] Re: /dev/md0 does not exist. Dropping to a shell.

2007-12-25 Thread Mark Jackson Pulver
I've worked out the last steps:

sudo mv /boot /boot1
sudo ln -s /md0/boot /boot
sudo update-initramfs -k 2.6.22-14-generic -c -t
sudo update-initramfs -k 2.6.22-14-386 -c -t

I was confused because I did not have 2.6.20-22-generic, but guessed I
should used the latest one.

I can now boot from either one of the above kernels.

[Bug 128313] Re: /dev/md0 does not exist. Dropping to a shell.

2007-12-23 Thread Mark Jackson Pulver
I seem to have same problem, but I don't know how to apply this
solution.

I just updated 6.06 - 6.10 - 7.04 - 7.10 over the pass couple of days.
This last update left me it this /dev/md0 does not exist. dropping to a shell
state.

I've download a 7.10 desktop cd, and have booted off this.
The update-initramfs command fails cannot find /lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic

But also it appears that this live boot does not see /dev/md0, so how
could create a new boot image on this raid.
