[Bug 156212] Re: Changing screensaver crashes X

2007-11-06 Thread Marko Djukic
Hi, just tested it out on the docking station finally, and it looks like
it is related to multiple monitors. When I am just on the laptop monitor
I can cycle through all the available screensavers and not trigger a
crash. When I am hooked up to a second external monitor, just cycling
through two/three screensavers will trigger an X crash.

This is all that is output in the Xorg.0.log is this, I'll try to get at
least a core file or something more:

[Bug 156212] Changing screensaver crashes X

2007-10-23 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

When I open System - Preferences - Screensaver and try to select a few
of the first screensavers, X crashes. At times the gnome-settings-daemon
dies as well. It does not always happen on the same screensaver, but it
is enough to go through 4-5 previews before it is triggered.

Not sure if it helps, this is on a nVidia graphics card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS

[Bug 156226] Screen is not locked when laptop lid is closed

2007-10-23 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

On Gutsy, just recently upgraded from Feisty, I have the screensaver set
to lock screen in System - Preferences - Screensaver.

When I close the laptop lid the screen is blanked, however when opened
again it is not locked. It does lock when the screensaver time is
reached (eg. on mine after 10min).

This is a regression from Feisty where this worked perfectly: as soon as
the lid was closed the screen would be locked.

It looks something similar to this bug:

Very strange... it looks like it is linked to whether I am on a docking

[Bug 133020] Re: vmware server

2007-10-19 Thread Marko Djukic
Yes, I've seen this as well in the Gutsy final release I just upgraded
to last night. vmware-server 1.0.3 will not run in Gutsy because of the
kernel modules mismatch.

Workaround:
1. Back up your license file found in: /etc/vmware/license.vs.1.0-00 or at
least save the serial contained in that file somewhere.
2. Uninstall vmware-server 1.0.3 including purging all configuration.
3. Make sure you have the package build-essential
4. Download vmware-server 1.0.4 directly from http://vmware.com/download/server/
5. Unpack and run vmware-install.pl, usually it is fine to accept all defaults,
and enter the license key from step 1.

and you should be back up and running.

I've got the same issue, with this card:

OK does nothing on the dialog box - you must click X or press ESC to

2007-10-18 Thread Marko Djukic
Sorry, I should have been more thorough... even though composite was
working fine in Feisty I had it turned off in xorg.con. Upgrading to
Gutsy does not reset this. So just turning it back on in xorg.conf
worked.

However, the dialog box is what is borked, it should allow you to click
OK to close it (and maybe say something more about missing Composite).

[Bug 154098] Timestep and speed in Rotate cube in Compiz settings can not be set

2007-10-18 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager

Under the Rotate Cube plugin, the General settings:
- Speed
- Timestep

seem to be inconsistent in remembering that they were set.

For example, I would change the numeric setting timestep from 1. to
20.. I click back and close, there is no change to the desktop. If I
go back to the settings, it's back again to 1.. This also happens
for the speed setting.

*However*, if I use the slider, then it works fine.

[Bug 137638] Disable ctrl-t as default for moving to trash

2007-09-05 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi,

Would it be possible to disable ctrl-t as a keyboard shortcut for moving
to trash?

1) There's already the del key which achieves exactly that, so no need for two
shortcuts (and del is far more intuitive).
2) It clashes with the very often used ctrl-t in Firefox for opening a new tab.

So if focus does not happen to be on Firefox when doing the ctrl-t,
Nautilus ends up moving to trash whatever file on the Desktop was under
focus.

This has caught me and a few of my colleagues out a number of times, and
from what I can see searching on the web and a few others too.

Thanks

[Bug 136249] Setting PHP to ~E_STRICT disables PATH_INFO

2007-08-30 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5

Running Feisty with the standard PHP 5.2.1 and Apache 2.2.3.

If in the file /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini the error_reporting value is set as
follows:
error_reporting  =  E_ALL  ~E_STRICT

Then no PATH_INFO will be provided to the PHP scripts. It is not set at
all in the $_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] variable.

Setting error reporting back to the default will provide PATH_INFO again:
error_reporting  =  E_ALL  ~E_NOTICE

I don't have the chance to test this with 5.2.3, so not sure if it has
been fixed upstream. Didn't find any bug reports for it on bugs.php.net
at least.

[Bug 122541] Openoffice.org shows inconsistent fonts in styles

2007-06-27 Thread Marko Djukic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have msttcorefonts and Openoffice.org 2.2.0 installed.

If I carry out the following steps:
- Open up Openoffice.org writer and start a new doc
- Open Styles and Formatting (F11)
- Select any header style, eg. Header 1 and try to modify the font
The problem is that the font list only shows a very small set of fonts.

If I then open up a second document, and go back to the style list to
try to modify the font of Header 1. Now the font list shows the full
list of fonts.

Also, there are other peculiarities, such as font style not being
applied properly to a line (eg. one half in Arial 10 another half in
Helvetica 12, 14 and 16), but always in the single open document.
