Same here, would be nice to see this issue solved as 14.04 is an LTS.

[Bug 852458] Re: three snapshots created

2014-06-29 Thread Martin Cigorraga
I wouldn't tag this bug with a medium priority as in the actual state
apt-btrfs is broken and potentially harmful.

But what's really disturbing here is that while this error was reported
almost a year ago apt-btrfs is still shipped in its current dangerous
state!

I wonder what is Ubuntu/Canonical policy about shipping a broken
administrative tool that can potentially disrupt a production
environment.

If there isn't a tag-line for a fix apt-btrfs should at least be removed
from the official repositories until it is working as expected again, we
are talking here about a system-level bug, not a fancy GUI one that
could be annoying but doesn't jeopardize user's data.

My 2c...
Regards!

[Bug 1303310] [NEW] Screensaver isn't triggered right after the first boot

2014-04-06 Thread Martin Cigorraga
Public bug reported:

Hi all, as previously posted on Ubuntu-Bugsquad ML:

I noticed that on a fresh boot the screensaver will not be triggered,
may be because no user is already logged so there's no such policy
enabled.[0]

Now, the downside of this behaviour is that computers turned on and
awaiting for users to be logged in will stay indefinitely with their
monitors/screens on, wasting energy and degrading the hardware.

Nowadays it's a common practice in public institutions and companies to
shut down every device that's not running any critical service mostly
for two big reasons: a. security measures and b. to cut energy and
hardware waste to save money.

The problem is that on next morning when staff turns on the systems
again the machines will keep their screens on all the time until
coworkers or general public - like on a public library - arrives.

I could think of several workarounds like adding a cron job or even
something simpler, an 'at' command to every /etc/rc.local to instruct to
`xset -display :0 dpms force off' at a given time to ensure the monitors
will be properly off after system boot until users arrive, but I would
prefer to stay away from any non-necessary hack if there's an official,
supported way to do this.

Thank you very much!

1. sudo apt-get clean
2. sudo mv /var/lib/apt/lists /var/apt/lists.old
3. mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/partial
4. sudo apt-get update

And got the same error so, next thing was trying to reinstall 'ubuntu-

Issue solved here.

[Bug 1293177] Re: 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare add: cannot convert name Everyone to a SID. Access denied.

2014-03-20 Thread Martin Cigorraga
Hello every one,

I'm having the exact same bug on daily 14.04 (as of March 20):

Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04

AFAIK I started experiencing this error a couple of days ago: the first 14.04
daily image I installed was from March, 12th and it worked flawlessly until
just recently.
I downloaded and installed today March 20 the daily build and got the exact
same problem right after first log in.
Traditional Samba configuration works as expected.

[Bug 1281614] Re: clementine doesn't show properly

2014-03-20 Thread Martin Cigorraga
Hi, I'm experiencing this very same issue on an up-to-date 14.04 with
both the Clementine officially shipped and the latest version available,
Version 1.2.2-392-g213fb2c.

So far the problem shows up ONLY when launching Clementine from the
sound menu, if launched through Unity's bar or menu or via command line
the theming works as expected.
