After upgrade to 9.10 from 9.04 on my Acer Aspire One with netbook remix, I can
not log in the normal way.
At the gdm greeter menu, I get the following error message regardless which
user I try:

When I made an upgrade 6 packages in total failed to install and printed
the message as I attached in my previous comment. I tried several times.

After upgrade to 2.6.27-7 October 24, the wireless network is not
working at all. No wireless network card is found by the network
manager. If I try to load ath5k with sudo modprobe ath5k I get: FATAL:
Module ath5k not found.

I can confirm this with Kubuntu Hardy I think. The funny thing is that I
have noticed that the cpu fan is always making a lot noise when my
girlfriend uses the computer. After some investigation I found out that

Flash plugin problem with ARGB visuals causes crash

I recently made a reinstall of my system and now I got this bug again.
When I look in the repository today 01-oct I see that 1:5.5-1ubuntu1 is
the version for Edgy. nedit_5.5-2 from Debian Unstable works though.

Try:
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 firefox from a console.
Works for me.
I have had problems with both nedit and firefox+flash since upgrade to Edgy.
The problems with nedit are related to composite-extension in xorg and the
workaround above was provided by the nedit developers.
Seems to work for
I added
export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
in my /usr/bin/firefox
and now I can finally watch flash-videos again :-)
