[Bug 323470] [NEW] Wire Network connection breaks when WICD is not Installed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager after one of Ubuntu updates, I noticed that each time I restart my machine or reboot, my wired network connection breaks Red x on the Network-Manager tray Icon and I had to type dhclient in terminal every time to fix the broken connection. [Bug 192360] [NEW] libglx.so link in current nVidia drivers is broken
Public bug reported: Using hardy with all the latest packages. Graphics hardware is an nVidia GeForce Go 7600. The nvidia-glx-new package (and presumably the other nvidia-glx packages) installs a file at /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglx.so. In older versions of the package, this was a link to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglx.so.xxx.xx, where xxx.xx was the nVidia driver version number. However, with the current nvidia-glx-new, the second file is now located at /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.xxx.xx but /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglx.so still points to the old location. This causes a broken link and as a result, anyone using the nvidia Xorg driver ends up having glx broken/disabled. The link included with the package should be updated to fix this. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- libglx.so link in current nVidia drivers is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192360 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 191777] [NEW] Firefox 3.0 uses a different font for the UI in KDE
Public bug reported: Using Kubuntu hardy, and installed firefox-3.0 to try it out. However, I noticed that the program was themed differently than other GTK apps in KDE; instead of using the Sans Serif font as set in the GTK-QT settings, the program appears to use whatever the default font is set in the Content configuration for the browser (in my case, Serif). Changing the default font in Firefox then restarting the browser changed the browser's UI font to the new font I had selected. Seems like firefox-3.0 doesn't seem to play nice with the gtk-qt theme. Steps to reproduce: 1) Start Firefox in KDE (3 or 4 doesn't matter, it happens in both). 2) In the browser, go to Edit - Configuration - Content 3) In the Fonts and Colors box, select a new default font. 4) Restart the browser. The browser's UI should be in the font selected in the Firefox menu. ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox 3.0 uses a different font for the UI in KDE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191777 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 190382] Re: Unable to change folder views for external storage in KDE4
No, my external drive is properly mounted as read/write - I can copy and delete files from the drive, but it's when I try to change the folder views or the folder icon that this problem crops up. [Bug 190382] [NEW] Unable to change folder views for external storage in KDE4
Public bug reported: Been using KDE 4.0 in both Kubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) and 8.04 (hardy, development). On my system, I use an external hard drive connected by USB as a storage drive for my documents and such. In KDE3, I liked how I was able to change the icons of folders as well as adjust how each folder could be viewed. Any changes I made, either with Konqueror or Dolphin, were kept. However, using Dolphin or Konqueror in KDE4, I've found that any changes I make to the viewing preferences on the external drive don't stick - custom folder icons don't change, and changing folder view settings such as switching to detail view doesn't stick - if I leave the directory and return, the default view for the folder has been restored. Dolphin seems to create a .directory file in each folder where the settings should be stored, but opening up the .directory files with KWrite reveals they're blank. I can change the view setting in my home folder just fine, and this is not an issue of needing write permission for the files on my external - I can move, copy and remove files from it just fine. It's just that the Dolphin kpart seems to be spitting out blank .directory files when it should saving custom folder view settings. Steps to reproduce: 1) Plug in a USB flash drive 2) Create a new folder on the flash drive. 3) Right click and select Properties on the folder 4) Click on the icon image and select a new icon for the folder 5) Press OK and save the new icon. The folder icon should not change 6) Go into the folder, choose to view hidden files and open up the .directory file in a text editor. It should be blank. [Bug 83151] Re: Kubuntu Herd 3 fails to start X on Inspiron 5100
Okay, after further hardware testing, I think I've isolated the problem to my wireless card, a D-Link GWL-G630 PC card with an Atheros chipset. When I tried booting the Kubuntu CD with the wireless card not inserted, it went through the whole boot process properly, including starting X. When I tried inserting the card in during the live environment, the device was not picked up by the system and checking /dev found no new nodes that would indicate a wireless device. Okay, found something interesting.
