[Bug 1406031] Re: Cannot connect to wifi having short password
Sorry, this is just sick. Bug reported and confirmed (!) in 2016, but still not resolved. I confirm this bug still exists and is affecting me and other users. We do not have control over WiFi, so we cannot change the password. But we cannot use the WiFi, because of this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406031 Title: Cannot connect to wifi having short password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1406031/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1883174] Re: Some (or all) desktop icons are missing
Here we have a great example how bugs are being solved. Since there was no good solution, I updated 20.04 to 20.10. Bug was still there. Then I updated to 21.04 - and, voila, bug is not present anymore. So the solution is clear. Just wait till bugs dissapear by "natural reasons"... or till users switch to some other operating system. This bug also affects me. I just can't believe what an ignorance from the maintainers to not resolve this issue already. Do we have a working solution yet or not? Hello, yeah I reproduced it every time completely fresh install only with packages I had written down earlier. And I just installed the VPN and configured some real basic things. And it just won't work (the ssh). As I said, output of "netstat -tupan" was the same as on "healthy" machine. Also, I checked with "nc -z -nv 127.0.0.1 20-80 " and it was ok. [Bug 1922509] [NEW] ssh doesn't work after stoping all open-vpn services
Public bug reported: -DESCRIPTION: I installed and set the OpenVPN server according to the guide:https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-setup-openvpn-server-on-ubuntu-linux-14-04-or-16-04-lts/. However, after stopping all open-VPN services the ssh service is unable to respond (ssh worked before I installed open-VPN). -VERSION/RELEASE: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Only following additional packages was installed: OpenSSH 1:8.2p1-4ubuntu0.2 openvpn 2.4.7-1ubuntu2 net-tools 1.60+git20180626.aebd88e-1ubuntu1 -HOW REPRODUCIBLE: I managed to reproduce it several times but not on another machine. -EXPECTED RESULTS: When all OpenVPN services are stopped and the restart of ssh.service is done, the ssh connection should be working on the default configuration. -ACTUAL RESULTS: After stopping all open-VPN services and restart the ssh.service the server does not serve ssh connection well. The attempt to ssh from the client fails with "Resource temporarily unavailable" message. The output of netstat seems normal on the server. -INFO: I also installed net-tools 1.60+git20180626.aebd88e-1ubuntu1 -HOW TO REPRODUCE: On a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I installed Openssh-server, and it worked flawlessly. Then I installed OpenVPN and set it following the guide. After that, I restarted the server. Then I turned off the autostart of the OpenVPN and stoped the process with "sudo systemctl stop OpenVPN". After that, I found out that I couldn't ssh to the server and restart didn't help. ** Affects: openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922509 Title: ssh doesn't work after stoping all open-vpn services To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvpn/+bug/1922509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890415] [NEW] Lenovo ThinkPad X390 won’t boot while plugged in
Public bug reported: Hello. I’m using Lenovo ThinkPad X390 Yoga (model type: 20NN002NMC). I have been using dual boot of the preinstalled Windows 10 x64 and Linux. I have tried the latest versions of Ubuntu and Debian. About 6 weeks ago, after updating the BIOS to N2LET76W 1.75 (https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n2lur14w.txt) and the Intel Management Engine Firmware (12.0.67.1579), an issue arose. When I boot to Ubuntu 20.04.1 (kernel 5.4.0-42-generic) using the Grub bootloader with active Secure Boot (fully supported), and then I turn the notebook off or restart it in Ubuntu, it won’t turn back on – it won’t POST, the screen is black, etc. After that time, I need to unplug the notebook from the power adapter, or remove it from the dock, and it will boot on battery. But it won’t boot while plugged in until it boots into Windows and is turned off/restart from it. After booting to Windows, it works fine while plugged in, until it is turned off in Ubuntu again. I have tried install recommend drivers and software.. It looks like a BIOS/Firmware error related to power management. I’m using the latest BIOS/Firmware updated via the official Lenovo software – Lenovo Vantage (bios version 1.76). Notebook was sent to Lenovo for repairs, the motherboard was replaced, yet the problem persists – hence thinking it’s BIOS/Firmware related. Lenovo claims it’s Linux’s issue, even though the list it as officially supported (https://support.lenovo.com/sk/en/solutions/pd031426) and there refer me to the community. Lenovo stuff inform me too, that this issue may be related to requirements Windows 10 v2004. Many thanks for your help. [Bug 1726160] Re: On login, display rotates to wrong orientation [HP Pavilion]
I have Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop and had the same problem. After reboot (when there was login screen), screen was flickering and endless changing rotation randomly. I managed to stop this by enabling external screen (inserted miniHDMI-to-VGA cable into laptop). However when I removed miniHDMI-to-VGA cable, flickering immediately begins and laptop was not possible to use. So I went to Settings - Devices - Screens, and found out I can change default rotation of external screen, but cannot change default rotation of laptop's screen! Then I found "orientation lock" icon in system tray and screen stopped rotating and flickering randomly. However, this was working only when I has been logged in my account. Login screen was still rotating and flickering randomly! Fortunately, I was able to lock orientation in login screen also, and now it works fine. Well, I must admit it did not just start to work when I clicked "orientation lock" icon on login screen and as a loggined user, I need to restart laptop SEVERAL TIMES. However, I have a couple of questions. First, why there is no option to disable screen rotation completely. Second, why there is no option to set default screen rotation for internal screen? Third, does Ubuntu have a group of special UX people who are wondering all day how to f**k their users??? I mean, this bug is a total blocker! And a complete shame. [Bug 1378401] Re: External USB3 hard drive fails to connect (JMicron bridge 152d:0569)
Latest 3.17 kernel was installed on Utopic to test this problem. Behaviour is the same. External HD is recognised only first one or two times after booting the system. Similar errors as with previous kernels are reported in dmesg then. I noticed that they slightly differ if the disk is connected directly to USB 3 port or through USB 2 powered hub. The disk in this enclosure works properly when connected to MacBook Pro laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1378401 Title: External USB3 hard drive fails to connect (JMicron bridge 152d:0569) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1378401/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1324393] [NEW] Force off fails with Permission denied after upgrading to 14.04
Public bug reported: We have an Ubuntu server (64-bit) that host multiple virtual machines (mostly Linux). The server is managed remotely using virt-manager. Both machines (client and server) were recently upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04. I noticed that shutting down the VM gets stuck at the state Powering off. The VM process on the host does not end: it needs to be killed with sudo. Using Force Off in virt-manager fails and displays a window with the following stacktrace: Error shutting down domain: Failed to terminate process 5170 with SIGTERM: Permission denied Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/asyncjob.py, line 96, in cb_wrapper callback(asyncjob, *args, **kwargs) File /usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/asyncjob.py, line 117, in tmpcb callback(*args, **kwargs) File /usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/domain.py, line 1150, in destroy self._backend.destroy() File /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/libvirt.py, line 918, in destroy if ret == -1: raise libvirtError ('virDomainDestroy() failed', dom=self) libvirtError: Failed to terminate process 5170 with SIGTERM: Permission denied I checked dmesg on the host for suspicious entries.
