[Bug 1267255] Re: [MIR] php7.0 (php7.0-fpm binary)

2016-08-22 Thread Matthew Haughton
There appear to be 14 bugs open that mention FPM currently
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bugs?field.searchtext=fpm),
some of which look like they can be ignored.

* #1283478 - Affects FPM. Crash when non-default configuration used. Raised
upstream with PHP but no activity.
* #1288129 - Affects FPM. Raised upstream, patch available, brief review by PHP
dev but no activity since May.
* #1385050 - Affects FPM on Trusty. More information needed.
* #1463076 - May have been fixed in Debian? Version 5.5.10+dfsg-1 changelog has
the note "Implement more robust way of handling php5-fpm reopen logs from
logrotate" but there's no Debian bug linked so can't compare this issue against
it.

Bugs that can be ignored:
* #1131115 - Incomplete bug.
* #1352617 - Fixed in Trusty.
* #1406026 - Incomplete bug.
* #1334572 - Unclear where issue lies - apparent packaging issue, but related
to a conffile automatically marked as such since it's in /etc, so not related
to FPM itself.
* #1475309 - Bug with opcache, not FPM
* #1325083 - Incomplete bug.
* #195 - Incomplete bug.
* #1407670 - Incomplete bug.
* #1430033 - Error on installation, log appears to show problem with php5-cli
installation, not php5-fpm.
* #1439925 - Issue with php5-mysql & php5-mysqlnd packaging on Trusty, not
php5-fpm

By my estimation, there are just three or four bugs that need attention,
which doesn't look that bad, unless I've missed something? Just a matter
of putting pressure on PHP for fixes for the first two, and somehow
reproducing the second two, or marking as incomplete if no further
information is provided.

[Bug 1385050] Re: segfault and apparent memory corruption in tsrm_virtual_cwd.c

2016-08-22 Thread Matthew Haughton
Can this be replicated on newer Ubuntu releases? Specifically Xenial or
Yakkety?

Also, is there a small script that you could provide that can be used to
trigger this bug on Trusty, that could be used to see if things are
fixed already in later releases?

[Bug 1249709] Re: Update dpkg-www for Apache 2.4 transition

2016-08-22 Thread Matthew Haughton
This remains an issue on Trusty.

Version 2.55 was released upstream to address this issue, it's changelog
is:

dpkg-www (2.55) unstable; urgency=medium

  * QA upload:
- d/control: Set maintainer address to QA.
  * Apache2.4 transition (Closes: #669735, #578237):
- d/control: Build-depends on dh-apache2, change hard Depends on apache2
  to use of misc:Recommends.
- d/rules: Add dh_apache2.
- New d/dpkg-www.apache2 to handle apache configuration, renamed
  src/apache.conf to debian/dpkg-www.conf.
- d/maintscript: rm_conffile in /etc/apache for apache1, mv_conffile to
  conf-available.
- Makefile: No longer handling apache2 conf.
- d/postinst: No longer handling apache2 conf. File deleted.

[Bug 1475309] Re: Segmentation fault in Zend OPcache (PHP-FPM)

2016-08-22 Thread Matthew Haughton
Can someone affected by this bug try running the test script posted in
this upstream bug to see if the same issue is triggered?
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=72869

If so we should link this to the upstream bug. If it can be reproduced
with the script in the upstream bug report then this is not an FPM bug.

[Bug 1430625] Re: ACPI PCC probe failed.

2015-04-13 Thread Matthew Haughton
Looks fixed upstream in commit efd756daf4ddae3cec2404c4e0b680b7cfdd6a45.
This downgrades the message urgency from error to debug level.

I wouldn't expect this to show in kernels earlier than 3.19 because this
driver was added in that kernel version, see

[Bug 1440270] [NEW] regression: backlight can't be adjusted on UX32VD with 3.19.0-12-generic kernel

2015-04-03 Thread Matthew Haughton
Public bug reported:

The keyboard buttons are working as I get the on screen notification.
But it has no effect on the backlight itself.

I rebooted and switched back to 3.19.0-11-generic which works fine,
rebooted and went back to 3.19.0-12-generic and it stopped working
again, so very confident something broke in the new kernel version.

successes with vivid packages modified with the upstream patch (me, plus

[Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad

2015-02-26 Thread Matthew Haughton
I have created a PPA for those using Vivid. The only change is the
addition of the upstream patch.
https://launchpad.net/~snafu109/+archive/ubuntu/xorg-server

This may be useful for users on Utopic too since both use xserver-xorg
1.16, but there are no guarantees. I installed the package built for
Vivid on my machine running Utopic and didn't experience any problems,
and it fixed the freezing issue for me as expected.

I can't provide any support for this, sorry. But please comment if
you're using Vivid and you try this, whether it does or does not fix the
issue.

The debdiff I attached (see comment 247) contains the patch that was
applied to the package provided in the PPA. If you try the PPA and it
works, that validates the patch I provided.

[Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad

2015-02-22 Thread Matthew Haughton
Sorry, not sure why the debdiff wasn't added directly to the previous
comment. The debdiff in question was added as a patch and is titled
debdiff from xorg-server_1.16.2.901-1ubuntu4

Also the first line of the changelog in the previous comment should
start with xorg-server not org-server. It's correct in the debdiff.

[Bug 1421053] Re: WiFi hotkey doesn't work on Asus UX32VD (nothing in evtest or acpi_listen)

2015-02-12 Thread Matthew Haughton
From memory this has never worked on my machine. I purchased it late
2012. I can try an older kernel if you'd like, just tell me which
version to use and I'll install from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/

New kernel (2.6.22-10-generic) fixed it for me on a Dell Inspiron 1420

cores, and they both also appear in System Monitor.

[Bug 129226] Re: kernel oops after resuming from suspend to RAM

2007-08-21 Thread Matthew Haughton
A new kernel has been released as source, but there's no binary yet. At
the moment I'm still on 2.6.22-9.25 (and everyone else would be too at
this point), which doesn't contain the fixes. I believe the kernel with
the fix is version 2.6.22-10.26. It'll be available soon.

Keep in mind I've never tracked the Ubuntu kernel before so I may be
completely wrong :)

[Bug 58232] Re: gnome-terminal does not start when using xinerama and nvidia

2006-10-26 Thread Matthew Haughton
Have a look at the bug in gnome:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354767#c5

It was closed, apparently the Composite X extension in nVidia is buggy.
That would probably explain why the bug went away when the new driver
was installed.

Sorry, it's not different. I thought it might get filed against xorg or
something other than gnome-terminal.

This is my first bug report, so sorry about the noise :)

[Bug 64623] Gnome-terminal fails to start when Xinerama enabled with nvidia-glx

2006-10-07 Thread Matthew Haughton
Public bug reported:

When Xinerama is enabled when using the proprietary nvidia drivers,
gnome-terminal fails to start. When run from an alternative terminal
(konsole), the error is:

The program 'gnome-terminal' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 105 error_code 2 request_code 78 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I've tried several combinations of xorg.conf with both open-source nv
and proprietary nvidia drivers. Each combination worked with gnome-
terminal, except when xinerama was enabled.

When I tried commenting xinerama out of my otherwise working xinerama
enabled xorg.conf, gnome-terminal worked. Uncommenting xinerama meant
that it would not start.

There's more info in bug a
href=https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
terminal/+bug/58232#58232/a.
