Until Chromium gets back hardware acceleration enabled as default - I'm
using a workaround which might be usefuly for others as well:
1. Download and install Google Chrome for Ubuntu here:

Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 14.10.
I was working on paper.lyx (about 120 Ko).
LyX crashed without any error message. After that both paper.lyx and
paper.lyx.emergency were corrupted (only 12 Ko), and LyX could not open
them (trying for infinite time, I had to use Force Quit).
The only

Bugs,
The bug was due to Debian Sid. I do not why I have added this
unstable package, but I removed it, and everything seems OK now. At
least the automatic update has been able to finish without any error
message any more.

From Ubuntu 12 to Ubuntu 13 (French versions). Partial installation ( I
do not know why) = error message. Not always the same. Once I have had
a message about unity being in a black-list, but I do not know what
it means.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my email. I would have solved this
issue had I had direct internet connection. Unfortunately for me the only
connections I have had access to lately is wifi via coffee houses! I plan
to get with a direct connection so that I could access to updates! If I

Archlinux appear to have fixed a similar fault 2 years ago, most of the
