[Bug 741706] [NEW] could not add physical hardware (ethernet card)

2011-03-24 Thread Michael Zoet
Public bug reported:

I am running KVM on a Dell PowerEdge R510 server with 10.04.2. The
server has 2 Intel quad port Ethernet cards and 2 Broadcom NICs.

root@kvm01:~# uname -a
Linux kvm01 2.6.32-30-server #59-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 1 22:46:09 UTC 2011 x86_64
GNU/Linux
root@kvm01:~# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
Release:10.04
Codename: lucid

I disabled apparmor!

When I try to add a physical network card (eth6 for example) to a VM I
get the following error messages:

Without the physical hardware the VM starts normally. Assigning USB

I am adding the physical hardware via virt-manager in the corresponding
menus.

[Bug 741706] Re: could not add physical hardware (ethernet card)

2011-03-24 Thread Michael Zoet
Hi Serge,

I tried it with 'intel_iommu=on' kernel option but with the same result.
It does not work.

Does physical hardware assignment for network cards really work under
KVM?

Below my complete dmesg output shortly after I tried to start a VM with
a physical hardware assignment.

Bye,

Michael

2009-02-21 Thread Michael Zoet
You need to provide some more information. Maybe your system is uptodate
and nothing needs to be done? Would be good if you post the command
lines you used. And all neccessary output.

What does a sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -u dist-upgrade puts
out on the screen?

If it still exists:

You should run

this runs slapd in debug mode in foreground. If something is wrong slapd

You need to provide some more information. Maybe your system is uptodate

lines you used. And all neccessary output.

What does a sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -u dist-upgrade puts
out on the screen?

You should run

openldap -F /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ -d any

this runs slapd in debug mode in foreground. If something is wrong slapd

[Bug 330059] [NEW] Xen does not work

2009-02-16 Thread Michael Zoet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-xen-server

After I installed Xen on Ubuntu Hardy 64Bit I got the following message
when the system boots:

IO-APIC + timer does not work! Boot with apic=debug and send a report. Then
try rebooting with the noapic option
Rebooting in five seconds

Trying to provide the kernel options apic=debug or nopaic does not
change a thing. Both options seems not to work for me.

When I start the normal server kernel the system boots fine and is
working as expected.

To test if it depends on Ubuntu I installed Debian lenny but with the
same results.

The system runs on an Asus M2N mainboard with an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2
Dual Core Processor 6000+ CPU.

By the way: rebooting the system in 5 seconds here, is not a good
choice. The system goes into an endless loop and I could read and
understand the message after 10 reboots. It would be better to wait
until someone presses a key and then the system should restart.

[Bug 273949] [NEW] Nagios WebGUI appearance is broken after Hardy Update

2008-09-24 Thread Michael Zoet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nagios2

Since I updated to Hardy all my Nagios servers (5 working in different
networks) the appearance of the Nagisos webGUI is broken.

An example (it is difficult to discribe...):

When I click on the Service Detail link I got no tables only a white
background and black text. The information is there but without all the
collorfull details. For me it seems as the HTML tables are completely
missing and no CSS are used.

Before the update to Hardy evereything worked fine as it should.

I have done an upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 beta with update-manager

As I have seen icedtea-java7-bin seems to be disappered in Hardy and I
removed it from the system. Do not know if this brekas something.
At the moment I am upgrading 5 more systems to 8.04 beta and I will see
if this was a problem only on this system. Three systems have just
finished upgrading and no reports about icedtea-java7-bin.

I am sure that /proc was mounted, otherwise the system would have
