[Bug 2058367] [NEW] Kubuntu noble daily installer broken

2024-03-19 Thread Miguel Angel Noguera
Public bug reported:

For more than a month it has been impossible to install the kubuntu-
daily image, the installer always crashes and the installation is not
completed (Ubuntu Noble Numbat (development branch), Release 24.04)

In every daily version, always is the same error: "El archivo de
secuencia de comandos principal /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/calamares/modules/networkcfg/main.py para el trabajo de Python
networckg generó una excepción"

This bug has ben solved in calamares 3.3.5 so it seems a good idea
update to this version.

Comparing with the KDE NEON version I have discovered that editing line
158 in .../calamares/modules/networkcfg/main.py from "os.chmod(f,
0o0600" to "os.chmod(f.fileno(), 0o600)" also solves the problem and
allows the installation to be completed successfully.

[Bug 1998177] Re: Firefox security updates delayed on Ubuntu 21.10/22.04 by 2 weeks

2022-12-07 Thread Miguel Pires
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1980271 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1980271

Hi, thanks for opening a bug report. There is ongoing work to ensure
that, after the user is notified, the snap is refreshed once the user
closes it (https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1980271). This is
currently considered the best compromise, since so that applications
don't crash and refreshes happen as soon as the user allows them. Since
there is no action to be taken here besides the continuing that work,
I'll mark this bug as a duplicate of the one I linked previously.
Thanks.

[Bug 1967121] Re: Dock auto-hides when a right click context menu is opened while a window is under the dock

2022-05-11 Thread Miguel Máiquez
Pinning an app to the dock (or removing it), displaying its details,
open it in a new window (for browsers, for example), and other functions
normally available with the right click, are all tasks very hard to
complete right now when the dock is set to auto-hide at the bottom (like
trying to hit a target on a video game). They might be specific, but
also very basic circumstances. I just experienced it right now. I was
trying to open a new window of my browser via right click on the app in
the dock, but the menu shifted, or moved down, when clicked, and I ended
up exiting the browser.

[Bug 1970984] Re: Can't save files in a Folder in a Folder 22.04

2022-05-06 Thread Miguel Belardinelli Prytoluk
Yes Trogdor, it seems to be the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1971516

Can confirm that when selecting the file name box this issue does not
happen. This explains every single behavior I've described. On a second
thought, this issue doesn't seem to be related to "top level
directories" whatsoever. The observed behavior of top-level directories
emerges because when you click on any shortcut on the left the file name
box is selected.

Another thing I've noticed is that both Chrome, Firefox and Telegram
have a full screen file save dialog. Software that have a resizable file
save dialog (or a custom file save dialog) don't seem to suffer from
this behavior.

And I've found yet another weird behavior. Although I can't save to
"~/1" normally, if I add "~/1" as a bookmark, I can save to it, but only
if click on the bookmark. If I navigate to "~/1" trough the file
explorer with any other path instead of clicking the bookmark, I can't
save anymore.

[Bug 1783873] Re: auto-type user and password not working (too fast?)

2022-02-08 Thread Pedro Miguel de Andrade Quental Mendes
I also had problems and got to this page when looking for a solution. The delay
command didn't solve my problem. In my case, the username field was still
ending up with only an ending part of the full string. I could test that with a
text file where I auto-typed the login.
Reading the documentation, I found the clearfield command. It solved my problem.
{CLEARFIELD}{USERNAME}{TAB}{DELAY 100}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}

If you want to test it out with a text file, please hit return twice
before auto typing.

Well, it actually works, but by default the event description is folded in (I
just see the title), and I must click on the small arrow to unfold it.
This is not convenient at all since, when an invitation is sent, the receiver
most likely wants to see the description.

2021-11-04 Thread Miguel J
(In reply to Worcester12345 from comment #152)
> Michael Baffoni, is this REALLY "working for you"?

Not working for me, since about one week:
- problem with message in MIME multipart, with invitation in .ICS
- I see a header saying "this message contains an invitation", I can accept it
or not, but I cannot see its contents
- but the invitation is displayed in human-readable form if I select Display /
Message body as / Plain text
(maybe not exactly these messages, my Thunderbird is not in English)

Version: release, 91.3.0 (64 bits), Windows, French.

[Bug 1932579] Re: snap pt_BR locale shows warning every time

2021-09-20 Thread Miguel Pires
Hi (or Olá for the PT crowd). I think snapd just wasn't refreshed,
@ioguis' output doesn't show it:

```
$ sudo snap install snapd --edge || sudo snap refresh snapd --edge
[sudo] senha para my-user:
2021/09/18 12:54:59.334587 main.go:176: description of prepare-image's
"" is lowercase in locale "pt_BR": "o directório de destino"
snap "snapd" já está instalado, consulte 'snap help refresh'
```

`snap install ` (when run on an already installed snap) returns 0.
So the right-side of the `||` didn't run and snapd wasn't refreshed to
edge.

@iogui, can you run `sudo snap refresh snapd --edge` and let us know if
`snap list` logs the warning? I've just tested with edge and the fix
seems to be working. If you still see the warning, then could you please
run `snap version` and post the output? Thanks for your help

[Bug 1942361] [NEW] Wrong terminus font-size

2021-09-01 Thread Miguel Angel Noguera
Public bug reported:

1) Kubuntu Impish Indri (development branch) / Release: 21.10 / konsole 21.07.90
2) xfonts-terminus 4.48-3

3) font size must be selectable between from 9 to 24 px

4) only 9 px is available, wich is too small in most cases.

Same bug in debian 11.0 / ubuntu 21.04

PCLinuxOS (version 4.48) and openSUSE tumbleweed (version 4.49.1)
performs the right way

Downgrading to 4.40-2 (focal package) also fixes the problem.

Switching from xorg to wayland doesnt affect.

was actually setting therefore the root user's desktop feature. Setting
true my user's key still wouldn't work but setting then "enable-
animations" true made the trick.

[Bug 1875056] Re: locate-pointer (w/ ctrl key) not working

2021-07-05 Thread Miguel Brossolette-Branco
AFAICT, my left CTRL key is working but I won't be able to enable this feature.
Actually looking at Thomas's screenshot I've noticed that the dconf setting
apparently has been moved from settings-daemon/mouse to desktop/interface, what
explains that I wouldn't found the key definition in the schemas.xml file even
in the deprecated-keys section.
But setting the key true in the new config won't enable either.
I can also notice that toggling the key value in dconf won't change the the
value in the "official" Settings/mouseand keyboard section or even in the Tweak
app. And BTW the new dconf description reads that the pointer location will be
be triggered by pressing *any* key (?) - as can be seen in Thomas's screenshot.
Seems like the gnome shell is still expecting for the old key activation. I've
tried to add the "locate pointer" in the schemas.xml's
settings-daemon/interface but it won't show up aon dconf and won't activate
anything either (even after reboot). Would there be a way to redirect the key
from desktop/interface to settings-daemon/mouse so that the shell could grab it
? I'm on 21.04.

[Bug 1922459] Re: restricted-ssh-commands regex check is not properly escaped

2021-04-06 Thread Miguel Ángel
Hello Seth, you're completely right plus the example was flawed as it
also matches a empty string.

The issue seems to be particularly to the system itself, several
hardware issues showed up after the report, maybe somehow that cause the
false positive.

I had another example which didn't use the alternation operator and also
worked, but i cannot replicate it on another system.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Bug 1882179] Re: package lvm2 2.03.07-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: installed lvm2 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2020-12-05 Thread Miguel López
I fixed this by running:

sudo apt purge lvm2

sudo apt install lvm2

But I wasn't using LVM and had no volumes set, so it wasn't risky for
me.

By the way, you could have run:

sudo apt install virt-manager

all the other packets you have expressly typed, with the exception of
bridge-utils, are dependencies or recommends, and will get installed no
matter what all those YouTube tutorials say.

I have no idea why lvm2 fails to install/upgrade though...

[Bug 1891254] [NEW] can not upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04

2020-08-11 Thread Miguel AGP
Public bug reported:

particular, consulte «main.log» y «apt.log».

[Bug 1248131] Re: glabels had support EAN-8 / Code128 in previous version - now it does not have it.

2020-07-31 Thread Miguel Barroso
I double Martin Malec's observation that the Ubuntu package since 19.04
doesn't contain GNU Barcode. It works on Debian however.

I contacted the package maintainer about this. Hopefully it will be
updated soon.

[Bug 1876018] [NEW] 40-vm-hotadd.rules attempts to set non-existent sysfs parameters

2020-04-29 Thread Jose Miguel Parrella
Public bug reported:

In focal, udev's 40-vm-hotadd.rules (from debian/extra/rules-ubuntu)
tries to write to invalid (as of 5.4.0-1010-azure) sysfs nodes resulting
in warnings such as:

Apr 29 22:36:46 focal01 systemd-udevd[266]: memory7:
/usr/lib/udev/rules.d/40-vm-hotadd.rules:9 Failed to write
ATTR{/sys/devices/system/memory/memory7/state}, ignoring: Invalid
argument

Perhaps 40-vm-hotadd.rules needs to be updated for 5.4 semantics,
removed, or something else. This behavior is present on systems upgraded
from 18.04 (via d-r-u) as well as new focal systems, upon first reboot
of the VM.

@Bartosz: this happens both using simple-scan and scanimage executables,
so this seems to be related to Sane backend. If you still think the
debug output will be useful, you can ask this again in the related bug
#1868408 and I will send it there.

[Bug 1875134] [NEW] Brightness and contrast not working on Canon Lide 60

using a Canon CanoScan Lide 60 scanner, it ignores whatever you put in
the --brightness and --contrast parameters. This was working in Ubuntu
16.04.

[Bug 1850130] Re: zpools fail to import after reboot on fresh install of eoan

2020-03-12 Thread Miguel de Salas
Hi @ahasenack, I just had a chance to try these.

Not great news.

Firstly with ZFS_POOL_IMPORT="bpool;rpool;extpool"

No effect at all. extpool is still not imported on boot.

Secondly with ZPOOL_IMPORT_ALL_VISIBLE='yes'

Same thing. The third pool does not re-import automatically after a re-
boot.

[Bug 1865921] [NEW] Libreoffice can't open remote share and Thunderbird crash when saving in remote share with .doc documents

2020-03-03 Thread Miguel

>From the updates of 27/02/2020 start having 2 problems:
Can't open remote files with libreoffice, because the system says it don't have
an app to opening it, then I select the writer app and it opens the document

- Can't save files from thunderbird in remote locations if in that

I think is something related with the way that the system interacts with
the samba share via fuse.

[Bug 1817350] Re: Running 'aptitude update' clears hold flags on packages

2020-01-16 Thread Carlos Miguel Bustillo Rdguez
I can confirm the problem is present in Debian GNU/Linux 9.11 (stretch)
and Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS. I noted the issue after run by the second time
an Ansible playbook with the apt module. As a workaround, I set
`force_apt_get: yes` in the apt module.

It's very odd this behavior because in my case the file
`/var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates` already existed. The first time I ran
`aptitude update`, the command cleared all hold flag in packages that
had set before; also 'hold' was removed from the status field here
`/var/lib/dpkg/status`. Then I marked again the packages with the hold
flag and I run `aptitude update`, `aptitude safe-upgrade`, `apt-get
update`, `apt-get upgrade`, `apt update` and `apt upgrade` without
issues.

Any hints are welcome!

Thanks in advance!!

[Bug 1858089] [NEW] Touchpad stopped working

2020-01-02 Thread Miguel Palma Cobo
Public bug reported:

Suddenly my touchpad stopped working, previously it did but now it doesn't
appear on /proc/bus/input/devices.
Before this my laptop used to enter in airplane mode when coming back from
suspension and I couldn't get it out from airplane mode unless I rebooted it
because the hardware button didn't work. Funny thing is now the airplane button
does work and my touchpad doesn't.

[Bug 1849987] Re: empty space when on list view and when back to icon view

2019-10-28 Thread Miguel Belardinelli Prytoluk
Bingo!
After "nautilus -q" it appeared some message about some python-extension.
I've found out the issue was related to an old "nautilus-terminal" python

Since the extension wasn't installed with apt or pip, i ran the following
commands:

sudo rm -r /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nautilus_terminal*
sudo rm -r /usr/local/share/nautilus-python/extensions/

(note that under "usr/local/share/nautilus-python/extensions/" there was
only a nautilus-terminal file)

The issue then ceased to exist.

After that, I could go to dconf-edit and go to:
"org > flozz > nautilus-terminal" and "erase the key" since no schema was
available.

[Bug 1849987] Re: empty space when on list view and when back to icon view

2019-10-28 Thread Miguel Belardinelli Prytoluk
I've now noticed the Bug is not reproducible in Nautilus Flatpak nightly
version. So it does seem like it could be Ubuntu related.

[Bug 1850130] [NEW] zpools fail to import after reboot on fresh install of eoan

2019-10-28 Thread Miguel de Salas
Public bug reported:

Fresh installation of stock Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan with experimental root on ZFS.
System has existing zpools with data.

Installation is uneventful. First boot with no problems. Updates
applied. No other changes from fresh installation. Reboot.

External pool 'tank' imports with no errors. Reboot.

External pool has failed to import on boot. In contrast bpool and rpool
are ok. Manually re-import 'tank' with no issues. I can see both 'tank'
and its path in /dev/disk/by-id/ in /etc/zfs/zpool.cache. Reboot.

'tank' has failed to import on boot. It is also missing from
/etc/zfs/zpool.cache. Is it possible that the cache is being re-
generated on reboot, and the newly imported pools are getting erased
from it? I can re-import the pools again manually with no issues, but
they don't persist between re-boots.

Installing normally on ext4 this is not an issue and data pools import
automatically on boot with no further effort.

[Bug 1849987] [NEW] empty space when on list view and when back to icon view

2019-10-26 Thread Miguel Belardinelli Prytoluk
Public bug reported:

Description: Ubuntu 19.10
Release: 19.10

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.34.1-1ubuntu1

Expected behavior:

- (1) Open nautilus in list view OR (2) Open Nautilus in icon view and then
switch to list view
- List view occupies all the space between the top bar and the bottom.
- Switch to icon view
- Icon view occupies all the space between the top bar and the bottom.

Actual Behavior

- (1) Open nautilus in list view OR (2) Open Nautilus in icon view and then
switch to list view
- List view occupies approximately 55% of the space between the top bar and the
bottom. Approximately 45% of the space between the top bar and the bottom is
blank (the upmost part).
- Switch to icon view
- Icon view occupies approximately 55% of the space between the top bar and the
bottom. Approximately 45% of the space between the top bar and the bottom is
blank (the upmost part).

Observations:
- The side bar doesn't seem to affect the bug.
- By Starting nautilus in icon view the bug doesn't occur. In this case it's
only triggered when switching to list view.
- There are only 2 known ways to revert the bug: (1) when on icon view,
clicking on "Other Locations", and then back to any section. (2) by restarting
nautilus. There is no known way to revert the bug in list view.

I am on Ubuntu 19.10 64Bit Using Gnome and Gnome Shell 3.34.1-1ubuntu1.

Title:
Lenovo miix 510 wifi adapter cannot be turned on

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This problem appears when you first install ubuntu 18.04, 18.10, and
19.10 on a Lenovo Miix 501 laptop. I have not tried previous versions
of ubuntu.  After installation or update to a newer versio of ubuntu
the network adaptor is set to off and cannot be turned on. I believe
this is because of a non-existent or faulty driver for the intel 8260
wifi adapter. It also could be that the driver is waiting for physical
or keyboard switch to turn on the adapter. However, no such switch
  exists in this laptop model.

The problem can be resolved by adding "blacklist ideapad_laptop" to
  the configuration file

  /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

(this is for ubuntu 19.04. The filename and location are different for 18.04
and 18.10)

Jeremy
1. I tried removing the blacklist fix and rebooting the computer to see if the
partial install of the kernel fixed the problem.  It did not (see attached
screenshot)
2. I tried updating my software, however the system detected a partial install
and now does not allow any updates until some type of "package fix" is done
