[Bug 402693] Re: Everything whick is linked against libgio-2.0 core dump

2013-01-11 Thread Miguel J
I got the same problem, with the same workaround, today just after upgrading Mozilla Firefox to v18.0. I had a hard time solving the problem. Symptoms: * Anything linked to libgio-2.0 do segfault. * cannot login using xfce4-session or gnome-session * dbus not working either * using xinit

[Bug 1071447] Re: [bug] grep -r [ with / without piping ]

2012-11-03 Thread Miguel J
I encountered this bug too, and it broke several scripts in my set-up. It seems that, when no input files are given (meaning input from standard input, or pipe), grep -r and rgrep search from *: all the files in the current directory. This is an easy workaround, that does not break any

[Bug 1074351] [NEW] Vertical scrollbar has no minimal height

2012-11-02 Thread Miguel J
Public bug reported: Since the upgrade to Xubuntu 12.10 (packet evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2), the vertical scrollbar has a height that is strictly proportional to the visible fraction of the document. This means that becomes vanishingly small when the document is very long. I did not have this behavior

[Bug 767823] Re: Overlay scrollbar hidden underneath bottom panel in Ubuntu Classic mode

2011-08-30 Thread Miguel J
Just switched to Ubuntu 11.04, using Ubuntu-Classic and taskbar on bottom side. I confirm that this bug is very annoying! Actually, there could be 2 bugfixes: 1) shift scrollbar towards the window when close to taskbar, as it is when close to screen edge. 2) display overlay scrollbar as now,

[Bug 630262] Re: Suspend fails with Lenovo Thinkpad X100e. Ubuntu 10.04 32bit

2010-10-10 Thread Miguel J
I have a similar problem with Ubuntu 10.04, on an ASUS X51L Laptop (Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2370 @1.73GHz). I can go to SUSPEND just 3 times. On the fourth time, usually the screen just freezes (backlight still on, hard disk still on, nothing responding even Caps Lock key or power button).

[Bug 627275] Re: Suspend to RAM broken with 2.6.35 kernels on T500

2010-09-26 Thread Miguel J
Same symptoms for me. It used to work fine, but now it works just the 2 or 3 first times (after a reboot) and then the last try gives a freeze (screen on, but nothing responding, have to hard reboot). This is an ASUS X51L, with Intel dual-core CPU. 2.6.32-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17

2009-12-22 Thread Miguel J
Same problem still existing with a SONY NWZ-E438F (portable MP3-video player). This is NOT a PSP. Rhythmbox seeks songs and puts them in /PSP/MUSIC/, but it should be /MUSIC/ Rhythmbox 0.12.5 Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) Linux 2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 8 04:01:29 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

[Bug 12637] Re: LCD Brightness on Laptop Always Set Very Low at Boot

2008-06-29 Thread Miguel J
I struggled with the same problem, before making my own workaround: screen would sometimes dim - after install, - at boot (but tends to improve with boot number: I even thought it was fixed, 1 month without trouble, and then back again), - after using Windows Vista, - when gdm starts,
