Same problem for me on a custom desktop using a USB bluetooth adapter as soon as I updated to 11.04 (worked fine in 10.10)....
The "sudo killall bluetoothd" "sudo bluetoothd" workaround works for me, but I have to do it every time I restart or boot the computer which is annoying!
