[Bug 925005] [NEW] moria fails to start with Abort error

2012-02-01 Thread Mike Vitale
Public bug reported:

I installed the moria package on Oneiric Ocelot and got the 5.6-2
version. Added myself to the games group. Running moria from the
CLI produces Abort and no other output. strace included below.

Hardware is a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, and my home directory is
encrypted.

I expect to be able to roll up a new character. :)

[Bug 127707] Re: airport-utils: airport-config does not run with Java 6.

2010-03-04 Thread Mike Vitale
Fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10, with airport-config and openjdk6. Running
airport2-config under strace gives the output in the attached
strace_airport-config file.

Note that it's not even possible to install the version of the sun-
java-5 packages from Jaunty's multiverse repositories and get the
airport-config program to work; that produces a Bad version number in
.class file, which I'm pretty sure means that the airport-config
utility was compiled against Java 6, and Java 5 can't read it.

[Bug 236171] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-06-23 Thread Mike Vitale
I'll confirm that I do not have a setting in the Global Catalog server
name for my Exchange server, Receiving Options tab. Problem is, I
don't know what I *should* put there, either. Will mention this
upstream.

[Bug 236171] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-06-09 Thread Mike Vitale
Is this an improved version of the stacktrace?

Also note that I had to downgrade my Evolution packages to produce this
report with debugging symbols, as I had upgraded to 2.22.2 last week,
and the problem is still occurring with 2.22.2.

Bug reported on bugzilla at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=537415 .

[Bug 236171] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-06-04 Thread Mike Vitale
Another workaround that seems to calm it down is to write your email,
send it, and then click the Work Offline button in the lower left hand
corner. Then click it again to Work Online, and your CPU usage should
be back to normal. Obviously this will be untenable if you keep an email
open all day long..

Anyway, I tried to install the evolution-dbgsym package. However, I got
the following message:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ apt-get install evolution-dbgsym
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  evolution-dbgsym: Depends: evolution (= 2.22.2-0ubuntu1) but
2.22.1.1-0ubuntu3 is to be installed

2008-06-04 Thread Mike Vitale
Bah. Never mind about the dbgsym not installable. I needed to remove
hardy-proposed from sources.list, and now it's installed.

However, in attempting to recreate the problem to get you a
stacktrace, I have found that I cannot reproduce it. In the interim
since I created this bug, I have run an apt-get upgrade once, and got
a new version of gnome-keyring:

2008-06-04 Thread Mike Vitale
*sigh*

I'm afraid I'm making a mess of this report, and I apologize for that.
Anyway, it turns out that I had already followed the advice of Chris
Trawick above, and turned off the Exchange Global Address List. After
turning that back on, I was able to reproduce the issue.

Evolution-running gdb inormation attached.

[Bug 236171] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-05-30 Thread Mike Vitale
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

When I use Evolution to create an email message, it interacts with the
gnome-keyring-daemon, and they both conspire to peg my CPU usage at
100%. Eventually, I need to run the evolution --force-shutdown
command. My messages get sent, but having to restart Evolution for
every message I want to send is untenable.

Background: this laptop (HP zd8080us) was initally installed with

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 7.10
Release:7.10

In my log files, I'm seeing pyzor: check failed: internal error. This
shows up many times hourly in my logcheck emails, which makes them
mostly useless (or, if you prefer, annoying). Google-fu turns up many
reports to apply patches from
http://antispam.imp.ch/08-opensource.html?lng=0 , however, those patches
are already applied to /usr/share/python-support/pyzor/pyzor/client.py.

Adding the pyzor: check failed: internal error to
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/spamd seems like a band-aid that shouldn't
be necessary, as it doesn't really fix the issue of Pyzor claiming that
there's an issue.

Log files this text is found in:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] log]$ pwd

./mail.warn.0
./mail.info.0
./mail.warn

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide to help this get
fixed.

If I have sun-java5-jre installed, which provides java2-runtime (as we
discovered in Bug #56497), why does installing tomcat5 also install GCJ
packages?

** Affects: tomcat5 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed

tomcat5 requires GCJ even though sun-java5-jre is installed

[Bug 56497] Tomcat5 doesn't dep on sun-java5 pkgs

2006-08-15 Thread Mike Vitale
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat5

Cleanly-installed Ubuntu Dapper system.

tt[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ apt-cache show tomcat5
Package: tomcat5
Priority: optional
Section: universe/web
Installed-Size: 336
Maintainer: Debian Java Maintainers
pkg-java-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org
Architecture: all
Version: 5.0.30-9
Depends: kaffe (= 2:1.1.6-3) | java-gcj-compat-dev (= 1.0.41-1) |
java2-runtime, libtomcat5-java (= 5.0.30-9), adduser (= 3.34), apache-utils
(= 1.3.33-1) | apache2-common/tt

Why can't sun-java5-jdk/jre/bin (whichever is necessary) be included in
the Dependency list? Adding GCJ to my system has hijacked a couple of
other programs' start-up scripts on my system (Limewire and DB
Visualiser), causing me to have to produce work-arounds for those
programs to be able to start up.

I would prefer to not have GCJ on my system at all, as I have to use
Sun's Java for work. GCJ is superfluous.
