Sierra Wireless AirCard USBConnect 881U does not work in Jaunty 9.04
According to the upstream bug, there should be an option called Play
system beep sound under the Sounds tab in GNOME 2.24, but I don't see
that on my Ubuntu 8.10 (GNOME 2.24.1) system.
Did Ubuntu make changes to the preferences screen?

Ah, the option is called Play alert sound.
It doesn't do anything on my computer, but there could be a few reasons
for that.

Yes, sorry, Ubuntu 8.10.
I tried cat /etc/debian_version, but it just said lenny or something
like that.
Is there a proper command to run to show that information?

Public bug reported:
The init.d script says status OK even when the Nagios daemon is not
running.
$ sudo /etc/init.d/nagios3 status
* checking /usr/sbin/nagios3... [ OK ]
$ sudo pgrep nagios
(no output)
It's because the script is passing 0 to the log function rather than 1.

Also just noticed this in syslog after connecting with NetworkManager and

Apr 15 08:34:50 laptop NetworkManager: info
That's the point Jeremy, yes most devices work with *99#, but the
BIgPond Sierra AirCard 875 PC Card requires no APN/CGDCONT and an
explicit connection id such as *99***3#.
I have verified this again just now.

There must be an upstream bug report for this. Does anyone know what it
is?

Here's a theoretical diff based on the documentation at

It also seems that XML file doesn't allow you to customize the phone

Public bug reported:
I just got a Telstra BigPond PCMCIA/PC Card card.
To connect, I had to use different settings that the current Telstra
settings that Ubuntu provides.
The main problem is that the AT+CGDCONT=... command doesn't work, so
instead we need to dial a different GPRS number
Thanks Pedro.
It turns out that if Alt-Shift is used to switch between keyboard
layouts (System-Preferences-Keyboard-Layouts-Other
Options...-Layout Switching, Alt+Shift change layout.), no other
shortcuts including Alt-Shift can be used.
I'll try to find the appropriate owner.

can't use
Hopefully gnome-control-center is the right place for bugs with the
GNOME keyboard settings.
** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: metacity = gnome-control-center
Status: Incomplete = New
** Summary changed:
- alt shift tab doesn't work
+ can't use Alt-Shift-Tab
Developers, please skip previous comments. I had originally attributed
the bug to Metacity, but I was wrong.
The description reflects my new understanding of the cause.
It could be GNOME Keyboard prefs or a general problem with X layout
options.
