[Bug 1648183] Re: Crackling and popping sound when using headphones

2021-02-17 Thread Mohd Imran Jamadar
Mr Robert Joynt,

I am on Ubuntu 20.10, on OMEN-by-HP-Laptop-15-dc1xxx with this Realtek ALC295

I get sound, from head phone , loud and clear, if i plug in the
headphone jack, sound switches from speaker to headphone, and vice
versa.

But if remove the headphone , then the sound from the speaker like low
or mono in nature? will the above fix work?

Please advise?

[Bug 1681639] [NEW] installing Google Chrome (downloaded) from Ubuntu Software as the package installer doesn't do anything

2017-04-10 Thread Mohd Imran Jamadar
Public bug reported:

Summary:

Upon Downloading Google Chrome browser, and installing it, leads to
Ubuntu software facilitating in installing the software, which upon
clicking the install button leads to nothing?

Reason for this issue:

Ref to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ZestyZapus/ReleaseNotes under title
Ubuntu Desktop.

Due to the above reason, if you try to install using non-interactive
method, using CLI (console/terminal), you will receive the following
error message.

Error Message:

 $ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

What i expected to happen:
To be able to install Google Chrome without any issue, its not like i have to
go to console to find out why upon clicking the install button that nothing
happens. Why is Ubuntu software so dumb.

Solution:

Install synaptic & install gconf

2017-03-30 Thread Mohd Imran Jamadar
https://launchpad.net/~penalvch

Ref to comment no #7 and upon testing upstream kernel, i confirm the bug
to exist.

Kernel tested was,
linux-image-4.10.0-041000-generic_4.10.0-041000.201702191831_amd64.deb &
4.8.0-45-generic

Please advise, still see analog 4.o surround sound option, with no option for
sub-woofer option to toggle.
But if i plug in my headphone jack w/o mic, and if i select 4.0 output i can
hear in my headphones sound Rear Left and Rear Right, soundoutput.

I've been able to get the latest alsa dev working (2016-04-02) by following the
instructions here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa), installing the
"alsa daily development build" and rebooting. If you've followed the
instructions in my previous answer, you can simply "remove the boot profile"
and reboot. It now correctly identifies the chipset, and the audio speakers and
headphones (including jack detection) works sensibly.

[Bug 1518192] [NEW] unity-control-center

2015-11-19 Thread Mohd Imran Jamadar
Public bug reported:

I had a mic issue in Ubuntu 15.10 and i issued few commands to remove
and reinstall pulse audio, that cause few packages to be removed and in
its place gnome-center control panel got installed.

so i searched ask ubuntu and found the solution by reinstalling unity
control centre, which restored the control panel of ubuntu.

What my take is that such things should not happen, that all operating
system packages should be isolated from other system, so that any
removing and installing of packages should affect this issue.

[Bug 1516025] Re: Realtek ALC3661 Alienware14

2015-11-14 Thread Mohd Imran Jamadar
I tried using the following kernel as suggested from this link;
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.3-wily/

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.3-wily/linux-
headers-4.3.0-040300-generic_4.3.0-040300.201511020949_amd64.deb

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.3-wily/linux-
image-4.3.0-040300-generic_4.3.0-040300.201511020949_amd64.deb

This resulted in a unbootable system, so used a previous kernel from
Ubuntu menu and then removed the offending kernel image.

Also i am using propriety Nvidia drivers, so that could be a cause as the
kernel failed to install properly .
Preparing to install an upstream kernel

First, if one is using select proprietary or out-of-tree modules (ex.
vitualbox, nvidia, fglrx, bcmwl, etc.) unless there is an extra package
available for the version you are testing, you will need to uninstall
the module first, in order to test the mainline kernel. If you do not
uninstall these modules first, then the upstream kernel more than likely
will not boot.
