As the previous comments noted, aMSN seems to be Signing in forever
with no feedback when launched from the Gnome-Terminal. I just upgraded
to 9.04 today.

I can confirm this bug exists in Ubuntu 9.04 Beta as well using aMSN
0.97.2.
I've tried re-installing aMSN, as well as various TCL libraries to no
effect.

to open a folder via the Gnome Places menu, a gnome-terminal session
opens instead of nautilus. Looking at

I have this issue, but disabling the System Beep as described by
Michael Broadbent doesn't work for me. I disabled pcspkr and it removed
the beep noise for me.
I'm running 7.10 and it is up to date

Removing the openoffice.org-gtk package fixes this problem.
However, you will loose all theme integration with your Gnome desktop.
I would guess that it is because the theme integration is looking for an
image or file for the templates that doesn't exist.

I confirm this bug on an Asus G1S-B2

I confirm this bug on an Acer Aspire 1694 WLMi.
My fix:
edit /etc/usplash.conf to use my laptop's true resolution. It was detected as
1280x1024, but my laptop's native resolution is 1280x800.
then I ran the following commands
$ sudo swapoff /dev/sda2
to turn off my swap partition
$ sudo mkswap
