[Bug 2045918] Re: [SRU] Fix crash caused by updating update-manager from inside itself
In Xenial virtual machine, I had .17 in xenial-updates installed, started update-manager from a terminal, selected 'Software Updater' in the list and clicked 'Install now'. [Bug 1990450] Re: Show potential Ubuntu Pro updates and apt news messages
In a Xenial virtual machine, installed update-manager from proposed (.21), confirmed there were updates available with pro security-status. With unattached machine, opened update-manager and confirmed the 'Ubuntu Pro security updates (Enable in Settings...)' section at the bottom of the updates list. I attached the machine to Pro, restarted update-manager and verified that the section was now 'Ubuntu Pro security updates' with installable Pro packages. The news were too old according to motd.ubuntu.com and therefore I did the Nginx procedure as in #31 and confirmed that a news section shows up with the set up message. ** Tags removed: verification-needed-xenial ** Tags added: verification-dne-xenial ** Tags removed: verification-dne-xenial verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1990450 Title: Show potential Ubuntu Pro updates and apt news messages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1990450/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2058133] Re: [SRU] update-manager crashes when ua security-status response is an error
SRU Team: The phasing in 22.04 was blocked due to LP:2004482. [Bug 2054197] Re: update-manager crashed with TypeError in _look_busy(): constructor returned NULL
I can't reproduce this exact error, but I do get an error if the Gdk imported is version 4: >>> from gi.repository import Gdk :1: PyGIWarning: Gdk was imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Gdk', '4.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded. >>> Gdk.Cursor.new(Gdk.CursorType.WATCH) Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in AttributeError: type object 'Cursor' has no attribute 'new'. Did you mean: 'newv'? After all the new constructor only exists in Gdk 3. I see two possible solutions: 1. Do as suggested and require the specific Gdk version with gi.require_version('Gdk', '3.0') 2. I have a fairly recent Debian VM locally - I tried reproducing the problem there but had no luck, it always starts fine and runs fine. Tried running it under valgrind too just in case, but again nothing. We also don't see this issue on Fedora, CentOS or RHEL and SuSE are also not reporting this. Since (I think) all Debian versions are fine (can we confirm?) it might be a Ubuntu-specific issue. Are there patches or some global compiler option(s) unique to Ubuntu versions where this is failing? Otherwise, I'm fresh out of ideas. I can't really justify time chasing this any further - I think we'll need some assistance from Ubuntu folk to help us gain additional insights. cheers. -- Nathan -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060275 Title: pmproxy crash at startup in libpcp_web.so.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcp/+bug/2060275/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Corrado, the released fix was only for the consumer (gnome-initial- setup). [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11
Upstream Gnome 46 made a lot of changes recently to improve performance and input lag in Gnome-Terminal. Those changes are separate from this bug. [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11
Hi Daniel, No, not multi-GPU. It's an AMD system with no integrated graphics and only one Nvidia card. One monitor plugged in, one TV plugged in to that card via HDMI. But the TV is usually turned off, and disabled in Settings | Displays. Running Xorg, not Wayland. This doesn't look like bug 1876632; it's not suspend- or VT-switch- related. Maybe I shouldn't have called it "corruption"; what I'm seeing looks like gnome-terminal just... deciding not to render something that it should; characters don't echo. No wild colors or randomized textures or anything like that. Seems like either a problem within gnome- terminal, or GPU command buffers just getting dropped on the floor. [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11
threadbareobserve, the nvidia driver can be downgraded to 535 without too much work. I'd make sure all the related packages are removed before installing 535. Might help the developers to know what version of Ubuntu you're running. I'm running a 22.04 desktop with a 4070 card, and the PPA does *not* fix the problem for me. It removes the lag, but that means the corrupted screen just happens faster. This is a bit intermittent and hard to pin down, but I've particularly noticed this after attempting to paste text into Gnome-Terminal; only the first few pasted characters might be echoed, then it gets into a state where keyboard input is processed but not all of it is echoed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2059847 Title: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/2059847/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Enter a 9. It looks like you are entering 90 seconds however what actually happens is you are entering 900 seconds now. What I expected: I expect the cursor to be in overwrite mode so that it would remove the 0 on the side and change the number from "00" to "90". [Bug 2029473] Re: Backport Ubuntu Pro to Xenial
I installed .13 from proposed. Ensured that the machine wasn't attached to ubuntu pro with $ pro status Launched software-properties-gtk, went to the Ubuntu Pro tab, which stated 'This machine is not covered by an Ubuntu Pro subscription', displayed a 'Enable Ubuntu Pro' button and had the service controls inactive. Clicked 'Enable Ubuntu Pro' and entered the PIN in ubuntu.com/pro/attach, after some seconds the software-properties UI updated and displayed a green mark and 'Valid token' label, I clicked 'Confirm', entered password at the prompt, the spinner showed up in place of the mark/label, once the attachment job was done the dialog was autoclosed. The UI then stated 'Ubuntu Pro support is enabled' and under Security 'ESM Infra', 'ESM Apps' and 'Kernel Livepatch' were displayed an enabled, with '$ pro status' output matching the UI. Enabled and disabled Infra in the UI and confirmed that the 'pro status' changed accordingly. Clicked 'Disable Ubuntu Pro', got asked for confirmation and password, confirmed that the UI is back to the original state and that 'pro status' confirmed the system wasn't attached to Ubuntu Pro anymore. The same testcase also succeeded for the 'Or add token manually' option. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-xenial ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2029473 Title: Backport Ubuntu Pro to Xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/2029473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
