[Bug 1406810] Re: screen is garbled with 14.10 (was fine with 14.04)
Christopher Penalver, I understand that the bug that affect me is of low interest, so I don't expect that upstream shall fix it except by chance, nor that you may have lot of time to spend on it. The negatives for me are a sluggish display and an inability to wake up the screen after going to sleep. It is tolerable most of the time. When I have time, I'm willing to do tests but just checking the new kernels is not a promising strategy. So again, do you have a suggestion beside just testing the new kernels? [Bug 1406810] Re: screen is garbled with 14.10 (was fine with 14.04)
Christopher Penalver, I've now tested the 4.8-rc5. Unsurprisingly the result is the same than for 4.8-rc4. Do you think that testing each new kernel version one after the other is a path to a solution? It feels more like a path to madness to me. To recap, 14.04 with kernel 3.13 *was* working and both 14.10 (with kernel 3.16) - 15.04 (with kernel 3.19) *were not* working. 15.10 wasn't working either but Apple released in October a "bios" upgrade that you make me apply to debug the situation. [Bug 1406810] Re: screen is garbled with 14.10 (was fine with 14.04)
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu ** Description changed: On a iMac Alu 2010, when 1) upgrading from 14.04 desktop to 14.10 desktop OR 2) installing 10.10 server (SSH package only) the screen shows thin horizontal lines moving on a black background. /etc/X11/xorg.conf is absent (using default config), /var/log/Xorg.0.log doesn't show any error beside the lack of the fglrx module. But I doubt it's relevant with the symptoms appearing on the server install. OK, I found the problem and it's indeed a /etc/udev/rules.d/70 -persistent-net.rules problem. The OS is on a USB key that I plug into various computers. By default udev records the mac address and doesn't notice that the computer changed. The result defeats the purpose of dhcp, so I think it still a bug. But then it's a design bug. [Bug 486267] Re: Realtek interface 8111/8168B doesn't shows as eth0 with 2.6.31-14-server
It occurs to me that it's more probably related to the motherboard which is an Asus M3A3200. The realtek interface shows up as eth2 when I connect another ethernet interface, otherwise it shows up as eth1 but never as eth0. -- Realtek interface 8111/8168B doesn't shows as eth0 with 2.6.31-14-server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486267 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
