[Bug 118647] Re: Mod JK fails to create its status file

2009-07-20 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
This bug has now no importance for me as Apache 2.2 and mod_proxy easily
replace the old mod_jk plugin. The bug is however still present on this
old software.

[Bug 274352] [NEW] Missing folder admin_doc

2008-09-25 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
Public bug reported:

When creating a project and uncomment the line :

(r'^admin/doc/', include('django.contrib.admindocs.urls')),

in urls.py to activate local Documentation, a link Documentation appears in the
Administration interface to this URL :
http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/doc/

If you click on it, here is the following error :

-

TemplateDoesNotExist at /admin/doc/
admin_doc/missing_docutils.html

---

Template-loader postmortem

Django tried loading these templates, in this order:

* Using loader django.template.loaders.filesystem.load_template_source:
* Using loader django.template.loaders.app_directories.load_template_source:
  o
/home/nicolas/workspace/mortpasmort/core/templates/admin_doc/missing_docutils.html
 (File does not exist)
  o
/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/contrib/admin/templates/admin_doc/missing_docutils.html
 (File does not exist)

To fix this, you only have to do in root :

cd /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/contrib/admin/templates
ln -s
/usr/share/python-support/python-django/django/contrib/admindocs/templates/admin_doc

After this, the error page could be displayed normally, and inform us
that the docutils package is missing. So, to reproduce this bug, you
don't have to have installed the docutils package.

[Bug 118647] Mod JK fails to create its status file

2007-06-04 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libapache2-mod-jk

The mod_jk Apache module fails to create its status file
(/etc/apache2/logs/jk-runtime-status), because it tries to use the
/etc/apache2/logs folder, instead of /var/logs/apache2.

A patch should be applied to the mod_jk source to replace the probable
$APACHE_HOME/logs pattern by a /var/logs/apache2.

[Bug 76567] Re: Use the default Java packages in Tomcat configuration

2007-06-02 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
I personally have no use and no interest in GCJ, since Java is going to
be open source (some parts are already released). If Java versions on
Ubuntu use the alternatives process to select the proper JVM for the
user, then Tomcat should automatically follow the user's choice. (Even
if a configuration entry still should override the default choice)

[Bug 76567] Use the default Java packages in Tomcat configuration

2006-12-20 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat5.5

By default, the /etc/default/tomcat5.5 config file contains the
following line entry :

#JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-sun

Now that Sun Java 5 is packaged by Ubuntu, this path should be replaced
the Java package one, like this :

#JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/

(and even java-1.6.0-env when Java 6 will be packaged).

This need also to be done in the init.d startup script of Tomcat :

# The first existing directory is used for JAVA_HOME (if JAVA_HOME is not
# defined in $DEFAULT)
JDK_DIRS=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun /usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-sun
/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-blackdown /usr/lib/j2se/1.4 /usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-ibm
/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-ibm /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj /usr/lib/kaff
e

To this line should be added the /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/ path (in
first, because it's the default Java path now on Ubuntu)

Actually, you need to set this option to be able to start your Ubuntu
packaged Tomcat .

[Bug 74784] Security manager is too restrictive by default.

2006-12-07 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat5.5

If we want to use the default Ubuntu packaging of Tomcat 5.5 server, we
need to have less restrictive access on webapps folder and the
shared/lib folder.

The Tomcat 5.5 server is launched by the tomcat5 user, so even if these
restrictions are less important, the system will still be protected.

Indeed, it's a real hell today to install an web application which needs
to right its log file /var/log/appname, simply because the security
manager is too restrictive. New Tomcat users needs many times before
finding the /etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d folder, and find how to modify it to
have something that the Linux FS rights already provide.

So I hope that the providen patch will be applied on the
/etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/ folder.

[Bug 59698] Guidance Power Manager prevent the K menu - Shutdown menu to work

2006-09-09 Thread Nicolas Ternisien
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-guidance

If you have guidance-power-manager launched, and you try to shutdown or
reboot your machine, you cannot do it because the submenu Disconnect
(Déconnexion) does not display anything.

However, if you first quit guidance-power-manager, then this menu works
again.

I'm using Kubuntu Edgy Eft.

When this applet exits, we can also remark that the Bluetooth daemon
starts (a notification appears on screen just after exiting Power
Manager)

It could be this applet which prevent other KDE daemons to start
