I upgraded with synaptic.
A window warned me that the EFI partition was not writable and GRUB could not
be updated.
If I clicked "next" without checking the box, then I returned to the same
message.
I checked the box and clicked on "next", then the installation ended without
any errors.

If I can add, a very useful function is that of real-time search for
packages, which is obtained only by installing the apt-xapian-index
package (python3-xapian), so it should be installed as a dependency.

Also i have the same problem on 64 bit Hardy Heron with nVidia drivers and
using proposed and backports repository as software sources.
OK the workaround, but that ugly interface!
At least I can continue using Open Office (without Gnome support).
