[Bug 1983076] Re: Fixes for >1.01TB guests on AMD systems (hypertransport reserved space)

2024-02-28 Thread Nilanjan Sarkar
Hi Robie,

Thanks for reply. I have checked internally and we can spare some
bandwidth to test the fix on AMD system (Dell R7625 server with AMD EPYC
9004 (Genoa (4th Gen EPYC) ). We need this soon, since we have some
customer commitment. Can you please prioritize the fix Ubuntu 20.04
(LTS)?

We have Ubuntu Canonical pro support. Let me know whether we need to
request from Ubuntu Canonical pro dashboard if that helps.

Regards,
Nilanjan Sarkar

I am unable to resolve the problem, and find it very difficult and
slow/impossible to use the 64 bit version of ubuntu, esp. if it wont connect

Thank you.

Thanks. But I hope my bug gets fixed.

2006-11-21 Thread Nilanjan
The client/installer program download url is: http://202.144.65.70:8090/
I downloaded the linux version on the site obviously. The windows version is
working fine.

If it has nothing to do with launchpad, wha is launchpad for then? I just
filed a complaint for help - which you call a bug report - it took me
automatically here. I have no idea what launchpad is. And I thought its a
security vulnerability since i cant even get my password in and it involves
passwords and logins.

Thank you.

This isn't a security vulnerability, there is no reason for it to be
private, and it has nothing to do with Launchpad.

Ubuntu developers will be much more likely to diagnose the problem if
you attach, or give the URL to, the installer program that you ran.
(This does not necessarily mean, however, that they can help at all.)

[Bug 59586] Re: Unable to install Ubuntu

2006-10-11 Thread Nilanjan
Phew! Finally installed Ubuntu after 2 complete whole night sessions - lasting
24 and over 12 hrs each. What an ordeal!! Never found an OS or CD that is
slower to install - I havent slept 2 nights! What sort of OS/CD is this?
Finally installed it using the command bar at the top with the link marked
Install under Administration.
But now the problem is that it has made a terrible mess of my hard disk- since
I attempted installation 5 or 6 times and the installer kept crashing. The free
30 GB I had allotted for it after partitioning with windows has been further
subdivided into 8/9+ seperate sub partitions and swaps! How do I now reconcile
all the free unutilised disk space that is left in between in different
patches/unused partitions/unutilised space/unutilised swaps - almost 20GB and
bring it together for use with windows?? how do I tell which spaces are being
used by ubuntu and which are not?? Because this is wasting so much precious
hard disk space. How do I reconcile all this unused hard disk space and
reformat /organise it for windows to use?

Also, how do I get the machine to boot windows first by default rather
than ubuntu from the chainloader?? What an ordeal.

Re: [Bug 59586] Re: Unable to install Ubuntu

2006-10-11 Thread Nilanjan
Thank you. Installed, yes, but at what price??!!?! It took just too long and
was too inconvenient. Canonical has to do something to improve this
and the 64 bit version. Is this problem there because Im trying to install the
64 bit version on a Turion CPU?

Thanks!

To fix the problems you're having now, you can either continue
discussion on this bug tracker (
https://launchpad.net/products/launchpad/+bug/59586 ) or head over to
www.ubuntuforums.org and open a thread there about your problems.
Personally, I would go to ubuntuforums, since there are more people
there, and they are more familiar with fixing problems such as these.
To get started on the default OS thing, head to
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GrubHowto/ChangeDefaultOS

Thank you for the bug report, and I'm glad you were eventually able to
 get Ubuntu installed!

Here is the overall process of how to install from the CDs.

 1. Put the disk in the computer and restart it.
 2. If it doesn't run the CD automatically, press a key while it's first
turning on to choose where to boot from, and choose the CD.
 3. Wait for the Examples and Install icons to appear.
 4. Click on Install.
 5. Answer the few questions about your setup.
 6. Restart your computer, and it should go to Ubuntu now.

If nothing happens when you click on install, please give it some time
just in case. If you get any error messages, please post them here.
 Thanks for trying Ubuntu!

[Bug 59586] Re: [Bug 59586] Re: Unable to install Ubuntu

2006-09-21 Thread Nilanjan
I put the CD into the drive, restarted the comp, it booted and the
live cd screen with the install icon came up. I double clicked the
install icon and then nothing happened- no dialog appeared- the cursor
arrow disappeared and after sometime the screen froze - nothing
happened. I then had to force a shutdown from the power button. This
happens every time- even with the normal 32 bit PC cd and the 64 bit
6.06 LTS CD that i am trying to install on my 64 bit AMD Turion 64 HP
NX 6125 laptop.

What shd I do? Why is this happening? How do I install??

Thank you. sorry for the delay but i didnt get yr email forwarded in
my main account.saw it only today.
thanks.

Did you double click the install icon? Did any dialog appear after you
