[Bug 282141] [NEW] kernel 2.6.27-5-generic and above crashes on shutdown
Public bug reported: Hi, starting from kernel 2.6.27-5 up to 2.6.27-7 there comes an error message with some strange assembler code on the black screen in white letters. background: If I click in the gnome front end the shutdown button, right on top of the screen and say shutdown, whilst my GSM network connection is on this error occurs. afterwards I have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del to reboot my laptop. Sorry, I have no tools to send you the full error message. Maybe you can tell me how I can help? The problem wasn't there in kernel 2.6.27-4-generic and below. With kernel 2.6.27-4-generic I can shutdown my system gracefully. Re: [Bug 221740] Re: No sound with Medion RIM2050 laptop
I tried Intrepid Alpha5 and the problem was gone! :) Thanks for all, you can close this call. Leann Ogasawara schrieb: The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. [Bug 144059] nm-applet can not switch to other wlan
Public bug reported: Hi! I recently switched to gutsy (Up-to-date Gutsy, on a laptop with an Intel ipw3945 chipset, running the 2.6.22-12-generic kernel.) Since that time I can not switch to a different free WLAN. The first free (unencrypted) WLAN chosen by system stays active, no chance to switch. This problem is new since gutsy. With feisty it was no prob to switch between different WLANs.
