[Bug 1300128] Re: Ubuntu web browser won't remember full-screen

2014-05-27 Thread Normand C
The problem is two-fold: it does not remember full-screen, and it does
not remember the last dimension the window was resized to. To me this is
a huge usability issue on a 1920x1200px screen as the window's default
size takes less that 1/4 of the display.

[Bug 1251568] Re: Can't select faces nor edges from objects

2014-03-04 Thread Normand C
You should not post a bug report here for the PPA version of the freecad
package. This channel is for the package available in the official
Ubuntu repositories, and the FreeCAD project does not maintain it.

For bugs related to the FreeCAD PPA package, please use the project's
bug tracker: http://www.freecadweb.org/tracker/

Please also note that with the release of v0.14 a few months away, we
will not fix the current stable PPA. I recommend you use the Daily PPA
instead.

ThierryM: we recently added a new PPA dependency to our freecad-daily
PPA. It's now linked to a new OCE PPA. OCE is a third-party library used
as the geometric modeling kernel, and the version in Ubuntu is
hopelessly outdated. Please add the OCE PPA to your software sources to
get the updates flowing again. https://launchpad.net/~freecad-
maintainers/+archive/oce-release

I will be asking for more storage space for the daily PPA so we can
include the OCE packages in a single PPA.

[Bug 1132776] Re: Please update freecad package to latest upstream release (0.13, already packaged in Debian experimental)

2013-04-26 Thread Normand C
Debian FreeCAD packages are usually not compatible with Ubuntu because
the dependency versions are not identical.

FYI we have set up a stable PPA with the latest 0.13.1830 package for
all maintained Ubuntu versions and architectures.

[Bug 1132776] Re: Please update freecad package to latest upstream release (0.13, already packaged in Debian experimental)

2013-04-26 Thread Normand C
Sorry, forgot to mention this... Be advised that the current version is
incompatible with Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS with the LTSEnablementStack (new
install from the Ubuntu 12.04.2 CD/DVD or upgrade) because it's based on
Quantal xserver stack which has different package names. Trying to
install FreeCAD will uninstall the whole stack and may damage your
system.

I'm working on a fix...

[Bug 817326] Re: [Upstream] Previously-saved LibreOffice document lost by power outage (became 0 bytes long) - LibreOffice should call fsync

2011-12-10 Thread Normand C
As a stopgap measure, I suggest not relying on the auto-save and using
save as and changing the filename everytime, for example appending v1,
v2, etc. I'm guessing if the last used file is scrapped by an outage or
suspend, the previous one won't.

[Bug 875306] Re: Adobe Flash Plugin and Skype marked as libre (free as in freedom) instead of gratuit (free as in free beer)) in french locale

2011-10-15 Thread Normand C
We could say that technically, the adobe-flashplugin package IS libre,
since it's an utility that downloads and installs Adobe Flash, not Flash
itself. Still this is potentially confusing to users.

But I agree about Skype, this is an obvious mistake.

[Bug 767242] Re: Unity panel indicators not responsive until Logout indicator pressed

2011-06-09 Thread Normand C
This affects me as well, and many times even the logout menu won't work.
I have to click on each and every tray icon sometimes multiple times
before one finally decides to open. This is a major usability problem, I
don't understand why its importance was rated low.

Sorry for the double post, forgot to add that this happened right from
the start on a fresh 11.04 64-Bit install.

[Bug 588945] Re: separation between sub-languages

2010-06-02 Thread Normand C
Agreed! And what is most ridiculous, alternative French dictionaries
fr_BE, fr_CA, fr_CH and fr_LU under /usr/share/myspell/dicts are just
symlinks for fr_FR!

As for English dictionaries, trying to uninstall either myspell-en-au,
-en-gb or -en-za in Synaptic will result in uninstalling language-
support-en and language-support-writing-en.
