[Bug 1846374] Re: Having a video playing/paused when switched to another user generates gigabytes of error logs

2019-11-23 Thread NounouRs
It fills not only /var/log/syslog but also /var/log/messages and
/var/log/user.log
It grows very quick up to the disk limit.

[Bug 1059827] Re: Non trival grub2 installs no longer fit in small embed areas

2012-10-14 Thread NounouRs
When you say partitioning disk with modern tools... ok, let's said we
have modern tools on 12.04.1 boot CD (that is not really the case since
LVM and RAID are only on alternate CD... why ? is libre-office more
relevant than a complete installing system ?)

When a disk is double partitionned, for example LVM over RAID, did it
need to partition from the basement, that meens RAID level, or only the
top final partitions, LVM level ?

If it needs to partition from the low level, and if it is not going to
be fixed, I think it will need a tool, a script or whatever to get
around this bug.

[Bug 976027] Re: "executing 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed. This is a fatal error."

2012-10-13 Thread NounouRs
Same error ! I'm installing Ubuntu from the 12.04.1 alternate CD.

But I have a log (using Ctrl+Alt+F4 during installation) :
grub-installer: info: Installing grub on '/dev/sda'
grub-installer: info: grub-install supports --no-floppy
grub-installer: info: Running chroot /target grub-install --no-floppy --force
"/dev/sda"
grub-installer: /usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: Your core.img is unusually large.
It won't fit in the embedding area.
grub-installer: /usr/sbin/grub-setup: error: embedding is not possible, but
this is required when the root device is on a RAID array or LVM volume.
grub-installer: error: Running 'grub-install --no-floppy --force "/dev/sda"'
failed.

And of course, my "/" root is on an LVM volume which is on a RAID 0 partition.
And second information, I've formated (ext4) the corresponding volume of "/"
but all my partitions where created a long time ago, under Ubuntu 10.10... is
that possible that the space reserved at this time is now too small ?

Is it also possible to boot without grub with any Boot CD or a command
line trick ? (with graphics and so on...)

(sorry mismanipulation editing description)

Its affects also at first Ubuntu install.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: lxpanel

- The keybord layout applet doesn't work well, as you can't add a new
- layout, and apparently didn't work at all for some cases.
-
- It means that there is no easy way to switch keyboard layout on lxde and
- lubuntu.
+ It appends during first installation, making the user unable to type
