[Bug 561750] Re: squid starts and stops immediately (after upgrade from karmic to lucid)

2010-08-20 Thread Oktay Altunergil
I am having the same symptoms on lucid with 2.7.STABLE7-1ubuntu12 . When
I boot the server, squid will not start. I have to manually start it.
All boot methods ; service squid start, squid start, /etc/init.d/squid
start are behaving erractically. Sometimes they work fine, sometimes
they say Failed to start, and sometimes No instance (When
restarting).

[Bug 558627] Re: Power manager mistakenly thinks my battery power is critically low, and hibernates -- MSI Wind U100

2010-05-03 Thread Oktay Altunergil
Great. Another MSI Wind specific bug. I have a Medion Akoya which is the
same thing as MSI Wind and I have this issue too.

The workaround in Comment #11 regarding setting 'use_time_for_policy' to
FALSE works. (Thanks)

[Bug 428632] Re: Karmic boot fails (end_request) on Targa 1016 (MSI U120 oem)

2010-02-04 Thread Oktay Altunergil
I think I should have been clearer. This has been triaged extensively
and has been fixed in Bug #435352 .

[Bug 428632] Re: Karmic boot fails (end_request) on Targa 1016 (MSI U120 oem)

2010-01-28 Thread Oktay Altunergil
I think like Dmitri said this is the same as #435352 . What's happening
is the webcam driver is clashing with USB at some point which is making
the USB drive fail after a certain point (although it works initially).

If somebody were to test turning off the camera before install this bug
could be put to rest as it is unlikely to happen in the next release.
(There's also a BIOS patch from MSI that fixes the problem)

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes cannot reset port error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

2009-11-17 Thread Oktay Altunergil
Thanks for taking the time to do all this work guys. Two things for
future though:

1) The kernel does not have to be built on the netbook. It would be
faster if you have a faster machine in addition to the netbook.

2) I think the methodology here is a bit flawed. Not everybody has to
build he kernel then test it on their machine. Since we're all talking
about the same machine, it would be better if everybody compiled a
kernel with a different value then uploaded that kernel somewhere. Then
even people who did not have time to compile the kernel this time around
would be able to at least install the kernel and report back.

Thanks again.

Cheers.

I have a Medion E1210 also (rebranded MSI WIND). I received a similar
message regarding the sound device returning from SUSPEND. Any info
needed, be happy to provide,

[Bug 428632] Re: Karmic boot fails (end_request) on Targa 1016 (MSI U120 oem)

2009-10-31 Thread Oktay Altunergil
I have a Medion E1210 (also a rebadged MSI WIND U120) and get the same
results with 9.10 (final). I've tried with two different USB sticks, one
of which is what I've used to install Jaunty successfully.

I've edited the boot parameters to take out 'noprompt', 'queit', and
'splash' to see what was going on. The process goes smooth, it adds the
necessary user, turns on shadow passwords, sets keys, etc. Everything
seems fine until the installer tries to bring up a graphical screen.
(Starting X probably).

I recommend doing the same and actually looking at where the process is
failing to other submitters.

Is there a way to capture the boot messages ?

By the way this seems to uniquely effect MSI Wind machines as far as I
can find out via google. And please consider that this might be a
legitimate non-hardware issue. It's frustrating to be referred to the
same SquashfsErrors page all the time.
