Same here on 12.04 64 Bit with ATI graphics (Mobility Radeon HD 3650).
Does not really seem to be something about graphics drivers then. I too

thunderbird hang/100% cpu on start
Haven't seen this issue since upgrading to precise. However, hard to say
if this problem is over now as it always was shown up sporadicly.
I don't think that Bug #927515 describes the same issue, as Thunderbird
doesn't generally consume CPU. But when this problem shows it always
consumes 100% of o

terrifying but as I had my share of "scanner lockups" from Ubuntu 8.04
to 11.04 (sometimes it actually works, 50/50 chance) I can say that it
never really broke the scanner.
Thats not saying that I wouldn't like to have this pr

It does not ask for keyboard layout and language as it already runs on
top of an operating system. So I think as it is some kind of native
Windows application it should also honor the keyboard layout configured
there.
It directly asks for a user name and password in the first dialog after

Oh yes, you are right.
I have a german keyboard layout in Windows. My password contained a "z",
which is where on english keyboard the "y" is located. Wubi picked my

Just tested it. I can login to the Ubuntu installation when replacing
all "z" with "y" in my p
Had the same issue yesterday. A Ubuntu 9.10 64 Bit install performed
"into" an existing Windows 7 installation via Wubi. The user was created

I also tried logging in in console mode with this username/password

The described patch "xserver-no-backfill" works flawlessly for me on

- Lenovo T500 with a Mobility Radeon HD 3650
- Catalyst 9.6
I experienced no performance loss in normal office work (not having
tried any "serious" 3D stuff though). But compiz works a lot snappier
