Locutus's xenial-proposed fix works great for me on the stock
4.13.0-37-generic kernel on my amd64 laptop.
Here's how I installed that fix on my 16.04 machine:
Start software-properties-gtk
"Developer Options" tab
Check "Pre-released updates (xenial-proposed)"
sudo apt update
I can confirm this still exists in 10.04, and the one-line fix in #6
fixes it completely and is safe. Can somebody upstream this pronto?

I too am experiencing this problem after upgrading to Ubuntu 8.04--all
libdmx client applications die, including Chromium, Blockbuster, and my
