If anyone comes this way with the same problem the solution was to
simply take out the battery and then put it back in again!

[Bug 571827] [NEW] /proc/acpi/fan dir empty on acer aspire 5536G - no fan control

2010-04-29 Thread Paul Dunn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

This maybe completely the wrong place for this issue - should I go to
the manufacturer? lm-sensors?

If this is the right place then just to say that the fan dir is empty
which I, as I understand, leaves me without any possibilty to control
the fans.

I don't have any critical issues, only that it / they run constantly and
very loudly, and I would LOVE some peace and quiet.

CPU temperatures are ok (40 - 50 mark).

I bought this machine with vista on it (the fan story was exactly the
same) and if my memory serves me correctly this issue part of the
inspiration to make the switch over to Ubuntu! So it's not that I'm
complaining!

In the attachment is as much relevant information to with sensors that I
could find.

If the bug report is the wrong place any hints as to what / where I
could go with it would be very gratefully received. Thanks in advance!

PS - I looked in the BIOS (and there was nothing there relevant to fans)

And then after about a minute the image started to fading - more or less as
in attached but not quite the perfect square.
After this the image then got progressively lighter - (lightgrey to white) but
not fading out completely.

[Bug 566474] Re: nautilus crashes/disappears immediately on opening home folder : problem start after working with GIMP and Inkscape

2010-04-19 Thread Paul Dunn
Hi Sebastian,

I was working with numerous files and types ( I also opened a couple of
.psd files with GIMP). The thing is, I was working with so many that I
couldn't give an accurate history of what happened when.

If it helps I could give a sample of the files I was working with, but
without any guarantees.

Would that help or just confuse things?

Paul.

Please ignore the last comment!

I tried to upload a .svg file to the report and nautilus crashed!

I have zipped it and it is now attached.
