[Bug 2060193] Re: iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point

2024-04-18 Thread Pauli Heikkinen
Cold rebooted several times to no effect. But updating the RUT241
firmware from 07.06.x to 07.07 fixes this problem for me - no more
microcode crash if the password is wrong.

07.07 contains an updated wifi driver which probably is what fixes this
problem with that router.

That is of course little help to anyone experiencing the same crash with
some other router :)

2024-04-15 Thread Pauli Heikkinen
That is very interesting. I have not had this specific microcode crash
when the the password is accepted. This may be somehow dependent on how
exactly the router behaves.

[Bug 2060193] [NEW] iwlwifi microcode crash when using wrong password to join a WPA3 access point

2024-04-04 Thread Pauli Heikkinen
Public bug reported:

I noticed that whenever I try to join a wireless network using WPA3 SAE
and type the password wrong, I get a microcode crash from iwlwifi.

The chip is Intel 9462 (AX201). Ubuntu release 22.04 LTS, faithfully
kept up to date.

System info available via:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2058226

Crash log seems to be always similar:

[Bug 2058226] Re: iwlwifi repeatedly logging microcode crashes

2024-04-03 Thread Pauli Heikkinen
I'm not sure what happened but I did the following:
- Disabled Bluetooth
- Switched to another access point
- Used the PC for some time
- Noticed I wasn't getting these errors any more, and decided I want to
reproduce the issue
- Re-enabled Bluetooth
- Switched back to original access point
-> Still not observing a microcode crash with the same signature. I do get
microcode crashes but those are a different story.

Firmware is still the same version and access point is still using the
same firmware version as well. Another nearby access point has been
updated to a new firmware version but that shouldn't matter here as when
the failures occurred the computer wasn't connected to that AP.

Until I figure out how to reproduce the same failure it's probably
impossible to find and fix this.

[Bug 1973076] Re: Missing i?amin_ symbols in libblas-dev:amd64

2022-05-17 Thread Ian Giestas Pauli
I've looked into the `SRC` code of this package and it seems `i?smin` is
missing there too, so it's not the package's fault. I looks like it is a
common `blas` extension that exists in intel's MKL and other vendors but
it is not implemented in the reference blas implementation.

I'm closing this since there is nothing you can do about it I guess,
thanks for your time anyway.

[Bug 1850258] Re: First breakpoint at AVX instruction with memory operand causes SIGSEGV when tring to continue execution

2019-10-30 Thread Pauli
Another instruction which appears to have issues with memory operands
and breakpoint on the instruction is vpmuludq. This time it didn't crash
but I was looking at completely incorrect multiplication results
compared to incoming values to the instruction. To me this indicates
like vpmuludq read the memory operand from wrong address which happened
to be a mapped address.

[Bug 1850258] Re: First breakpoint at AVX instruction with memory operand causes SIGSEGV when tring to continue execution

2019-10-29 Thread Pauli
A bit more debugging I see that signal comes from kernel (si_code=0x80)
but it claims null pointer reference. I don't understand how it could be
a null pointer I would need to have better understanding what
happens in gdb and kernel to trigger the SIGSEGV.

I found out also that workaround is to have breakpoint but disable it
after stopping on the problematic instruction. If breakpoint isn't
active then execution continues without issues. Only issues is that I
don't know full set of instructions which actually trigger this issue. I
have had issues with some other memory referencing VEX coded
instructions. But I also have examples of memory reference instructions
which don't trigger the bug.

I attached updated test2.cc which has now signal handling dumping
siginfo.

Reading symbols from ./test2...

[Bug 1850258] Re: First breakpoint at AVX instruction with memory operand causes SIGSEGV when tring to continue execution

2019-10-29 Thread Pauli
Actually it seems like it is more restricted towards a few instructions
with memory operand. But if breakpoint is set to them at any point of
execution they crash.

That means also breakpoint before and single stepping to problematic
breakpoint will crash application. But single stepping over problematic
instruction without breakpoint doesn't crash. That was adding to my
earlier confusion why application crashes looked so random.

[Bug 1850258] [NEW] First breakpoint at AVX instruction with memory operand causes SIGSEGV when tring to continue execution

2019-10-29 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

I noticed random looking SIGSEGV to application when trying to continue
execution after first breakpoint. I now seem to have narrowed the issue
to SIMD instruction with memory operand as first breakpoint location. I
haven't managed to figure out why the SIGSEGV is delivered to the
debugger application.

It is important have first breakpoint exactly at a problematic
instructions. If I first break on a different instruction then later
breakpoints won't reproduce that crash

I haven't tested if this is a hardware specific issue.

I managed to write a simple test case which reproduces the crash if
breakpoint is set. I attached the test.cc which includes compilation and
testing instructions. test.cc is supposed to generate a simple main
function like:

0x6020

   0x452c <+12>:retq

I set breakpoint with:
b main

Then either continue or stepping causes SIGSEGV to the debugged
application.

This was happening already with disco. I only now figured out enough
details to make a simple test case which is worth a bug report.

** Description changed:

  Dump of assembler code for function main():
  => 0x4520 <+0>:   vmovdqa 0x1af8(%rip),%xmm0#
0x6020
-0x4528 <+8>:   vmovd  %xmm0,%eax

  b main

[Bug 1702767] [NEW] pname (Process name) completion script fails to handle wine generated path names

2017-07-06 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

I'm playing The Witcher 3 in wine. The game plays mostly fine except it
deadlocks when trying to exit. To clear the deadlocked memory hog
process I need to kill it manually. I tried to use killall with tab
completion to clear the process but then I noticed pname completion
function in /usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion doesn't handle
windows paths at all.

There is two problems in windows names:
1. It may use backslashes (but wine supports also unix paths if application is
launched from terminal)
2. There is often spaces in the directory path

Attached possible fix is fairly simple addition to sed replace script to
handle windows names first before anything else. It only handles .exe
files but script could be modified to handle other extensions like -e
"s:.*[\/]\([^ ]*\\.\\(exe\\|bat\\)\\):\\1:". But I didn't want to
add any other extensions because I haven't seen them used.

The possible fix still has a weakness if command line arguments include
filenames with exe extension. I just don't see how to write a simple
script that handles spaces in directory path and arguments having exe
extension. If wanting to handle the extension in argument list corner
case it could be done using multi step completion involving parsing
/proc//cmdline that has list of null terminate strings making it
much simpler to separate arguments from directory path. Too bad ps tool
doesn't already offer option to display that information instead of
/proc//comm that truncates long command names.

I tried to use single quotes to reduces backslashes but that didn't work
in completion script. That forced me to choose double quotes and doubled
backslashes.

I tested the patch in my system completion script directly. killall
completion now allows me to complete both windows and native process
names without any issues yet.

[Bug 1639536] [NEW] gnome-session-inhibit passes arguments to execvp incorrectly

2016-11-05 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

steps to reproduce:

gnome-session-inhibit sh -c "sleep 10"

Excepted result is of course wait for 10 seconds before termination.

Actual result:

That is causes because shell ignores the first argument that should be
the program name. But inhibit passes "-c" as the first argument.

[Bug 1609546] Re: Slow DNS lookup through Netgear DG834G V4 router

2016-10-31 Thread Pauli Virtanen
I'm seeing a similar issue on current Ubuntu Yakkety with Android phone
AP via WPA2-personal:

208.73.210.217
-- Information acquired via protocol DNS in 13.6889s.
-- Data is authenticated: no

`host www.guugle.com` and nslookup on the other hand return immediately
during this time. Disabling DNSSEC and restarting systemd-resolved using
the instructions above has no effect (the above trace is after
disabling).

syslog contains the lines:

Oct 31 20:25:41 x systemd-resolved[5309]: Using degraded feature set
(UDP+EDNS0+DO) for DNS server 127.0.0.1.

resolv.conf contains only `nameserver 127.0.0.1`. The problem disappears
if I add also the line `nameserver 192.168.43.1` (that's the upstream
DNS) --- however, the following line appears in the logs:

Oct 31 20:34:05 x systemd-resolved[5309]: Using degraded feature set

[Bug 1589563] Re: ext4 journaling and swapping to same encrypted SSHD hangs system

2016-06-09 Thread Pauli
.This is a new laptop with fresh install. I received it only a few days
before noticing the swapping issue. Laptop model is previous generation
meaning that this hardware has been around for nearly two years.

I haven't tried older kernels if I can find a stable one. Only relevant
looking report about very similar problem pointed to bug being present
already in 3.19 kernels. If this is same bug then his report about older
kernel being stable means I would need to install quite old kernel to
find a stable one. But I might setup kernel build and bisection for the
broken commit in a few days. But I wanted first to learn how relevant
code behaviors in my system before trying to find the bug. That means I
need to read thousands lines of code and setup some kernel traces to see
how thread, hw access and irq timings interact.

I tested mainline kernel package linux-
image-4.7.0-040700rc2-generic_4.7.0-040700rc2.201606051831_amd64.deb

There is some changes to system behavior but still underlying bug is
present that makes swapping not working on this laptop.

Changes in 4.7-rc2 kernel:
+ SLUB now reports actively about allocation problems
+ Kernel manages to use about 1G swap space before freezing (so far only one
attempt to reproduce) when 4.4 kernel consistently used only about 100M swap
before freeze
+ freeze triggers OOM killer very quickly and system automatically recovers
after OOM killer removes the offending compiling process.
- Netconsole has become unreliable. There is allocation failures reported from
netconsole context that results to lost kernel messages
+ Local kernel log recorded to disk is complete. There is no report from
systemd about ring buffer overflows.

Attaching locally recorded kern.log from boot and reproduction attempt.

[Bug 1589563] Re: ext4 journaling and swapping to same encrypted SSHD hangs system

2016-06-06 Thread Pauli
A possible problem is dm_crypt works all trying to allocate pages in
bio_alloc_bioset. Based on comments around relevant code allocation is
supposed to come from a memory pool. But stacktraces show that code end
ups to page allocator. I'm not familiar with relevant code paths so I
need to read the code more carefully to figure out what actually blocks
dm_crypt works the way they are blocked in stacktraces.

[Bug 1589563] [NEW] ext4 journaling and swapping to same encrypted SSHD hangs system

2016-06-06 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

Short description:
The system has single SSHD disk with luks/lvm2 encrypted root file system and
swap partition. If system starts to swap ext4 journal commit and swap requests
hang waiting disk io.

Relevant bug reports in other places:
So far I have managed to find only one relevant looking report about very
similar problem
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=193034

Hardware:
Acer Aspire E15 E5-571G59EQ
Intel Broadwell i5-5200U
4GB ram
nvidia GeForce 840M (binary driver installed but disabled)
Seagate ST500LM000-1EJ16 500GB HDD + 8GB SSHD

Known ways to reproduce:
Compiling templated c++ code using g++ 5 that results to g++ optimization
taking huge amount of memory.
I haven't yet tested if there is any other

Reproduction details:
$ cat main.cpp
#include

template
unsigned loop()
{
if (idx == 1)
return 6;

unsigned count = 0;
for (unsigned i = 1; i < 7; i++) {
count += loop< (idx > 1 ? idx - 1 : 1) >();
}
return count;
}

int main(void)
{
unsigned count, dice[5];

std::cout << "6^5: " << 6*6*6*6*6 << "\n";

std::cout << "loop all: " << loop<5>() << "\n";
std::cout << "loop all two players: " << loop<10>() << "\n";
return 0;
}

$ gcc --version
gcc (Ubuntu 5.3.1-14ubuntu2.1) 5.3.1 20160413

$ g++  -O2 -g  -c -o main.o main.cpp

[Bug 1510009] Re: Java 1.8.0_66 is extremely deadlock prone regarding AWT/GTK interaction

2015-11-28 Thread Pauli
"atk-wrapper went through some quite big updates between 15.04 and
15.10, so I'd be betting on that being the issue (or it somehow
triggering a Java edge case)"

I don't think that is the primary bug. Bugs in Debian and Redhat are
much older and look like perfect match to this bug. It feels like a race
condition somewhere but I don't know how to debug jvm. Maybe some kind
of trace from xcb telling which threads are using which connection would
help.

src/solaris/native/sun/awt/awt_UNIXToolkit.c:
AWT_LOCK();
XSync(awt_display, False);
AWT_UNLOCK();

Looks like X11 is supposed to be protected by AWT_LOCK.

src/solaris/classes/sun/awt/UNIXToolkit.java:
/** All calls into GTK should be synchronized on this lock */
public static final Object GTK_LOCK = new Object();

It looks like also gtk is protected with a java lock.

Mean while looking at java-atk-wrapper code it is using gtk/atk/gdk
without unix toolkit lock.

But I simple can't remember any specific reason to use locks if opening
two separate X display for two threads.

Also I can't understand how gdk_open_display can hit a race condition

I noticed the hang in load_gtk when trying to run netbeans with

Native backtrace looks a lot like situation where some other thread managed to
steal the X11 reply deadlocking load_gtk call waiting for X11 reply.

After I once managed to start the netbeans with accessibility disabled the bug
doesn't seem to reproduce any more with accessibility enabled.

I decided to try a bit more with accessibility enabled leading to more
hangs. But later on I managed to reproduce UI hang while native
backtraces show multiple threads calling g_main_context_iteration,
g_main_loop_run and Java_sun_awt_X11_XToolkit_waitForEvents. But glib
created threads in g_main_* calls seems not be the problem. Those
threads exists also when accessibility is disabled. That makes me think
that if race condition happens it isn't any more visible in native
backtraces when UI is hung.

I tested if XInitThreads gets called starting netbeans inside gdb with a break
point:
handle SIGSEGV nostop noprint pass
b XInitThreads
r

I saw comments that java has rule that UI code is only allowed to run in
single thread. But I already have

I managed to find a very similar sounding bug that is from year 2012 but
it was iced-tea specific:
http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=857

Solution there was to make sure that setLookAndFeel call happens before
any other call to swing. But I have no idea how that could be related to
this bug. Only similarity is that atk-wrapper seems to trigger bugs in
java UI code. Possible completely different issue.

Redhat bug report without any solution from year 2014:

[Bug 1507062] Re: After suspend resume network manager fails to set default route entry to routing table for mobile broadband connection

Seems like network-manager 1.0.4-0ubuntu5.1 fixed this bug. That makes
this like duplicate of LP: #1512749

[Bug 1507062] [NEW] After suspend resume network manager fails to set default route entry to routing table for mobile broadband connection

2015-10-16 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

This is regression from 10.04.

It seems to reproduce often but not always which might point to some
kind of race condition handled badly.

Basic setup:
* Huawei USB 3G modem
* Network manager set to auto connect with saved pin
* Laptop which has very few suspend-resume issues so I use suspending all the
time

I noticed the bug that modem led and network manager indicated that
there was a connection. But connection didn't seems to work.

My initial workaround in hurry was just to pull the modem from laptop
and restart both modem manager and network manager. (they don't like
modem unplugging or individual restarts but those are long standing
separated bugs that I haven't cared to report) After restarting
connection comes up working.

I decided to investigate what is broken after resume and I could narrow
issue to be that default route is missing from routing table. That
resulted to very simple fix where I can simple manually add the missing
default route.

Broken table after suspend:

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse Iface
link-local  *   255.255.0.0 U 1000   00 ppp0
rantapallo  *   255.255.255.255 UH75000 ppp0

Working table before suspend:
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse Iface
default *   0.0.0.0 U 75000 ppp0
link-local  *   255.255.0.0 U 1000   00 ppp0
rantapallo  *   255.255.255.255 UH75000 ppp0

Command to add the missing route manually:

sudo route add default netmask 0.0.0.0 metric 750 dev ppp0

That is at least so far only missing part of connection setup after suspend. I
will report a separate bug if I see a different error causing similar
reconnecting failure after suspend-resume.

apport should include syslog with detailed log from suspend-resume and
service restarts to get correct route tables.

[Bug 1280584] [NEW] Bluetooth daemon default configuration is wrong

2014-02-15 Thread Sundberg Pauli
Public bug reported:

I was trying to connect my Android device to python script via bluetooth
connection. The connection raised fine but it was not able to make the
connection. I am using [1] as server.

When looking at syslog i noticed:
 bluetoothd[707]: Unable to spawn pnatd: Failed to execute child process
 /usr/bin/phonet-at (No such file or directory)

Googling that gives [2]. And comment from 'Selmi' follows up to
discussion on linux-bluetooth [3].

They say:
There should be absolutely no reason for Ubuntu have this plugin enabled
or even compiled. You might wanna file a bug to them to disable it. The
only place where it makes sense to be compiled is in Nokia's Maemo
Harmattan platform. For everything else it should be disabled (as it is
by default).

And indeed, adding line
'DisablePlugins = pnat' to '/etc/bluetooth/main.conf' makes the test work fine.

[Bug 1267442] Re: Install nvidia-331 on Xubuntu results in unbootable machine

2014-01-27 Thread Sundberg Pauli
Affects me too, probably due package: nvidia-prime_0.5.3_amd64.deb.

I tried to reproduce the problem but running --reinstall on the package
does not modify lightdm.conf.

Assuming there is no lightdm.conf in the fresh install, then the package
creates a file that is reported by @Efry.

[Bug 1267442] Re: Install nvidia-331 on Xubuntu results in unbootable machine

2014-01-27 Thread Sundberg Pauli
kubuntu daily image from 14.04 downloaded at about 20.01.2014 -
installed and updated - install packages - install nvidia-331 -
nvidia-prime (v 0.5.3 ) came with recommendations:

nvidia-331:
 Recommends: nvidia-settings (= 331.20), nvidia-prime (= 0.5) | bumblebee,
 libcuda1-331, nvidia-libopencl1-331, nvidia-opencl-icd-331

And yes, the 'preinst' script looks kind of guilty:

 paste from preinst

# Let's create a configuration file
# from scratch
cat  $lightdm_orig_conf EOF
[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=ubuntu
display-setup-script=/sbin/prime-offload

[Bug 327362] Re: Some ISPs have .local domain which disables avahi-daemon

2014-01-24 Thread Pauli
This is a response I got from my ISP. I think it's relevant.

According to the RFC 6762 (chapter 22, IANA
considerations) the top level domain .local
should be handled as being Special-Use Domain
Names, which the RFC 6761 states the caching
DNS servers SHOULD generate immediate (positive
or negative) responses for all queries.

Basicly, one should not query any .local. names.
But as many users do this, ISPs like us must
protect root name servers from these bogus queries.

We recommend not using the avahi-daemon since
it is causing problems.

our hardware (my adapter was sold as Asus PCE-N15, not sure how to
identify it better). Good luck for the ubuntu/kernel developers to trace

[Bug 902557] Re: Wireless not working in 12.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE)

2013-07-14 Thread Pauli Virtanen
Here's one more data point:

I have Realtek PCI adapter that lspci reports as Realtek Semiconductor Co.,
Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01).
It uses the rtl8192ce driver. With the default driver and firmware supplied by
Ubuntu 13.04 (linux-image-3.8.0-23-generic, 3.8.0-23.34;   firmware
rtl8192cfw.bin, sha1 4fc1e72c5f82cf95c62050c56cce074d90c3e579) the connection
was very unstable, exactly as described in the above comments. That is,
reason=6 and reason=15 disconnects, and the link going dead after some time
from connection.

I obtained Realtek's vendor rtl8192ce driver version 0012.0207.2013 from
their download site and built it.

First, I forgot to upgrade the firmware, only loading the newly built
rtl8192ce.ko. This did not improve the situation, and similar problems
as with the Ubuntu-supplied driver persisted.

Then, I upgraded also the firmware (to rtl8192cfw.bin, sha1
bbd9b4e2c53e18df3aed03d22eee8d8c22ef9a8e). The connection seems now
quite stable, the dropouts seem to be gone now.

I forgot to mention that prior to that, I also tested the backports

[Bug 1180202] Re: Properties window is not usable

2013-05-15 Thread Sundberg Pauli
Thanks!

Two ways to get around this problem:
1) Use option '--use-old-panels' when starting paraview
2) Remove the suggested plugin at:
/usr/lib/paraview/plugins/libPointSprite_Plugin.so. Removing from 'manage
plugins' view after paraview had loaded did not fix the issue (bit weird?)

Anyway, if other stumble upon this, i think you refer to this bug [1].

[Bug 1180202] [NEW] Properties window is not usable

2013-05-14 Thread Sundberg Pauli
Public bug reported:

Attached is screenshot (and the file with the bug is reproducable) showing the
problem best:
properties toolview (at right lower corner) is very large: only small partition
can fit in full 1920 screen (you can see the scrollbar -- long way to go). This
is regression at some package, since older version it showed up properly.

Problem continues if the toolview is detached.

Just to clarify: the properties window scrollbar on left to right: it
'extends' when something is loaded, when no result is loaded its proper.
And this is not only .ply files loading: after loading .mhd file the

[Bug 1175139] [NEW] python-dap causes UserWarning: Module dap... printed in other python programs

2013-05-01 Thread Pauli Virtanen
Public bug reported:

Installing python-dap 2.2.6.7-1 causes many Python programs to print
messages like

UserWarning: Module dap was already imported from None, but
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages is being added to sys.path
  from pkg_resources import load_entry_point

This occurs also when

 import pkg_resources
__main__:1: UserWarning: Module dap was already imported from None, but
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages is being added to sys.path

These messages are very annoying and pollute program output
unnecessarily.

The fix is outlined here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13915269
/why-do-i-get-userwarning-module-dap-was-already-imported-from-none

Namely, the dap packaging is apparently incorrectly packaged, and
missing the top-level module as a namespace package in:

[Bug 606594] Re: Multiple instances of Gwibber

2012-12-14 Thread Pauli
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 856284 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/856284

This might not be duplicate. I noticed that gwibber-service startup has
a huge race issue in the code that tries to prevent starting duplicate
services.

Basic issue in gwibber-serice code is:

1. Check if dbus service is registered.
2. Do some initialization stuff
3. Register dbus service.

This race allows gwibber-service to start multiple instances that would
result to gwibber-service reporting same remote service multiple times.

I'm not dbus expert but I remember dbus providing feature to start
gwibber-service like service automatically on first client requesting
the service. I suppose that could eliminate the race in startup making
it easily possible quarentee single gwibber-service instance per user
login.

[Bug 890569] Re: Kernel NULL pointer deference in __d_move from vfs_stat ioctl

2011-11-18 Thread Pauli
It was one time crash only for me. But upstream doesn't have much
changes in that area.

Only patches that I quickly could name even potentially related are in sysfs
side:
f6d90b4f9ce018bff429d6e01ee672de712b8641 sysfs: Make sysfs_rename safe with
sysfs_dirents in rbtrees
Mikulas Patocka 's rb_tree changes.

in dcache side there is more interesting commits but only one of them
talk about d_parent not being NULL. But looking (upstream) code d_parent
shouldn't ever be NULL.

If same applies to 3.0 kernel then It starts to look like some race
condition that I happened to hit only once.

[Bug 890569] [NEW] Kernel NULL pointer deference in __d_move from vfs_stat ioctl

2011-11-15 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

__d_move crashes in second d_ancestor check where it finds that one of parents
for dentry variable is NULL.
Call comes from sysfs_lookup-d_move-__d_move. The vfs_stat ioctl was
initiated from Xorg quickly after I tried to switch user.

I have take picture from oops report but I don't have cable for the
camera. But I will upload the picture later when I get my hands on the
cable. Too bad console font was a bit too large to capture the begin of
the oops report.

[Bug 227705] Re: hdparm not being triggered with udev

2011-07-03 Thread Sundberg Pauli
I take my words back. The unmodified file works as well. Setting 'set -x' and
running the /lib/udev/hdparm function by hand does show that with
DEVNAME=/dev/sda hdparm is called properly with options:
/sbin/hdparm -B254 -S1 /dev/sda

This does spin down the disk on manual run. After boot the disk is still
not spinning down. After wake up from suspend the disk is spinning down.

it seems to me that /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/95hdparm-apm calls
/sbin/hdparm -B254 also, but this should not re-reset the spinning (at
least not after manual run). I guess some other is messing up the spin
down value -- gnome?

I confirm #6 working on fresh install (of linux mint 11, so i guess
this is still open at 11.04) with minor modification: File is
/lib/hdparm/hdparm-functions and line is 99.

[Bug 718032] Re: Flash fullscreen mode can cause X to freeze the display

2011-06-24 Thread Sundberg Pauli
At least in my case upgrading kernel to 2.6.37-020637rc2-generic from
mainline did not do any good.

Fullscreen flash still freezes allways but sound works ok.

I have also tried all the /etc/adobe/ and export env-variable stuff
described in other threads -- no help.

[Bug 798359] [NEW] mounting btrfs filesystem (with possible broken content)

2011-06-16 Thread Pauli
Public bug reported:

I have btrfs filesystem in micro-sd card. I had it mounted with sync
flag set to record a bug to it. Too bad btrfs code hit BUG() when trying
to mount the micro-sd card after I hit the bug.

It is possible that I pulled power off the device while it was writing
to the card.

[Bug 644854] Re: python-profiler fails to install due to manually installed python2.5

2011-06-08 Thread Pauli Virtanen
Fails also on Natty --- there it's more probable to occur, because
Ubuntu no longer ships 2.5 packages, so if you have it, you have to
install it manually to /usr/local
