[Bug 1846374] Re: Having a video playing/paused when switched to another user generates gigabytes of error logs
I can confirm the bug is still there. Ubuntu 20.04.1 using Nvidia 460.32.03 driver. Played an mp4 video on VLC, paused, suspended, then woke up. Shortly after waking up, rsyslogd and systemd-journal processes started consuming beyong-100% CPU, and the size of /var/log directory grew at a rate of approximately 70 MB/min. The systemctl is filled with thousands of `vdpau_chroma filter error: video mixer features failure: An invalid handle value was provided.` messages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846374 Title: Having a video playing/paused when switched to another user generates gigabytes of error logs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340/+bug/1846374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1900760] Re: gnome-shell very high %CPU usage while moving mouse on Ubuntu 20.04
Did that, now it's much better. Although I was deferring from system updates, reluctant to restart, so this was not a clean test. Moving mouse quickly still makes the Xorg process consume signifficant CPU% (up to 25%), but gnome-shell doesn't get near to the level it used to consume. It's a weird combo, a bug related to Discord app and mouse movement processing, causing the said CPU hog. Thanks for the fix, I guess. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1900760 Title: gnome-shell very high %CPU usage while moving mouse on Ubuntu 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1900760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1900760] Re: gnome-shell very high %CPU usage while moving mouse on Ubuntu 20.04
Whoa, there's a lot of info in those apport files. I hope those are relevant. I don't use any fancy Gnome shell extensions. Here's an output of `ls /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/`: desktop-icons@csoriano ubuntu-appindicat...@ubuntu.com ubuntu- d...@ubuntu.com That's about it. It's hard to tell right now if the problem surfaces only after locking/unlocking routine. I can confirm that when I was submitting this bug report, the system has indeed went through several sleep and wake-up cycles, and, of course, there was a lock screen every time a wake-up happened.
