[Bug 1897153] Re: Automount fails due to SSSD config (Groovy Gorilla)
Having the very same issue in 20.10 Groovy Gorilla, after updating from 20.04.1LTS to this one (getting the same error messages on boot-up and so on.) Inside my /etc/sssd , there is only a sub-directory /etc/sssd/conf.d/ , which is empty. It seems that I can remove 'sssd' and its associated components with a simple apt purge/remove -command, but I'd like to know if that is compromising system security to do so. Then again, it's not working as it is ... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897153 Title: Automount fails due to SSSD config (Groovy Gorilla) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1897153/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1897153] Re: Automount fails due to SSSD config (Groovy Gorilla)
Ahoy! Another 20.10 Groovy user here who had to update from 20.04.1LTS to 20.10 because my soundcard stopped working. Well, the sound card works now, but I get those same exact SSSD errors and I think the whole thing was installed upon update -- at least I didn't get those errors on my 20.04.1LTS. The only contents of my /etc/sssd is a 'conf.d' subdirectory ( ' /etc/sssd/conf.d/ ' ), which is empty. [Bug 1903909] Re: Audio keeps on popping and "bitcrunching" (digital output) at semi-random constant intervals
For now, after I unplugged the other one, it seems that this problem was caused due to having the external RME Fireface UFX connected into firewire, although it was not in use and not selected as my default card (I had chosen the internal built-in audio in all settings I could think of.) It probably has to do something with the kernel probing for whether not the soundcard is "still there", or some kind of similar override/priority conflict in the audio layer. Note that my previous Ubuntu build with 20.04.1LTS and the 5.4.x kernel tree did not even recognize the sound card, and as mentioned in my previous bug report considering that, my entire audio went suddenly dead with a mundane apt update. Finding absolutely no solution to that whatsoever, I just updated to 20.10 and got my audio back (AND my second, external RME sound card was visible to Ubuntu.) I have now had the external RME card unplugged for a while now and there's no more digital audio glitching. So, the fundamental issue is NOT solved, but this is the workaround for now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903909 Title: Audio keeps on popping and "bitcrunching" (digital output) at semi- random constant intervals To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1903909/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1903848] Re: Latest kernel update to "5.4.0-53-generic" = Internal audio, USB webcam no longer working
Okay, so my "solution" to this problem was to just enable short-term distribution support in the Software Updater, and to update to Ubuntu 20.10, the kernel is now ' 5.8.0-29-generic x86_64 ' and it actually recognizes the whole 5.1 audio system instead of just stereo audio. Although this might not be the ideal solution for everyone, at least it solved _this_ issue. I'm kinda worried, though, that the underlying cause for this (as reported by so many) will remain unsolved. Hello Christopher, I think it is the same problem (see my dmesg, the i2c error messages are the samen) As you instructed, I have posted a message on the mailing list on 22-november (http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg42240.html) but have had no response. A similar issue has been reported on the mailing list as well (http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg42217.html) According to your instructions, after a week if there is no response from the mailing list a bug report should be placed on https://bugzilla.kernel.org/index.cgi, as there is already one, I do not see a point in posting another one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1518570 Title: Touchpad not working on Asus Zenbook UX305CA-FC022T To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1518570/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ok I managed to try the 3.18-rc1 kernel. The nvidia-343 driver fails to build for this, so that's probably why you couldn't log in. Testing in a virtual console, no wireless interface was up. I also tried modprobe athk10k_pci (I think this card is some atheros variant). It loaded fine, but still no wlan interface showed up. I am sorry about the issues you are having, but please, let's be consistent on what issue we are talking about in this particular thread. I was having this issue (reported one of the duplicates), my X crashed approximately every 20 minutes. Re: [Bug 988892] Re: Xorg crash
I worked around this entire issue by uninstalling all nvidia drivers, and installing the nouveau driver. To my surprise, it supports dual monitors on my Quadro FX 570. While the accellerated animations are performing fabulous, Chromium won't render WebGL 3D (tells me that my card doesn't support it), whereas Firefox gives me approximately 0.5 FPS, and looks to be on software rendering. :-) I am not using this box for any 3D activities whatsoever, so I am happy for the moment. If I can find some time. As far as I know, all versions listed there are all versions installed using the package manager. Could you - just for the sake of completeness - try to figure out what version you are currently using? (i.e. the one that allegedly solved your problem?) [Bug 988890] [NEW] Xorg crash
Public bug reported: I am on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. All stuff is up to date from the default repository settings. I expect my X to not crash at random moments, whereas it does occasionaly, approximately once an hour. These crashes happen randomly. Apps I'm running are Chromium, Terminal, PhpStorm IDE. I fear it has something to do with my graphics driver. I'm using NVidia Twinview with the driver that came installed during the Ubuntu installation process. [Bug 27037] Re: mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL
Hej Andrew, I have had no trouble with my last two arrays on basically debian /etc/rcS.d setup, even with the CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM flag turned on while kompiling the latest stable kernel. (but i now have the flag turned off for paranoidomal safty reasons) - i do not need it on. Why do'nt You (who is still wrestling with this problem solving it with a delaying softswitch) write to Ben Collins who was the first one to answer questions about bug[27037] in this forum. He began 2005 at the same day that we here in Sweden in Holland and in Her hometown in Italy have a grand party for Santa Lucia. As i remembered it he also wwrote in the Kernel-Bug forum asking Linus ant the other guys who are supposed to have some overview about this. Maybe You found something new so we can go to the rooth of this evil an mark it as solved. I'll saw that you joined Ubuntu some months before me (but could'nt find your first postings). I began writing only on this page because goggle saw that it was right here this shit was most written about. If you are still doing experiments, you can write directly to me. I did buy 2x1.5TB WD drives who both broke down within 2 weeks. Saved some mony an have now 2 similar Segate under heavy testing (checking S.M.A.R.T. messages from them). So if you write to me (and not here every 3 min) and tell me more in detail of your setup, maybe i have time and interest to try do duplicate the strange behavior you just described. -- mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 27037] Re: mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL
I got rid of my problems after compiling the kernel without LVM That is: # CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM is not set -- mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 27037] Re: mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL
I have a similar problem, now running the 2.6.27 kernel. Ian Olivers nice workaround solves it, but there is a spooky md0 array that i can not get rid of. mdadm --examine --brief --scan --config=partitions ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid0 num-devices=2 UUID=7d97e292: .../* /dev/sd[c-d] - won't go away */ ARRAY /dev/md1 level=raid0 num-devices=4 UUID=84d9862b: .../* /dev/sd[e-h]1 - working fine */ ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid0 num-devices=2 UUID=279762b4: .../* /dev/sd[c-d]1 - now loop[1-2] */ The history is: /dev/sdc /dev/sdd was first setup. Then removed and replaced by /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1. That worked fine for a long time until the next reboot. Then the first array reappeared and could not be removed. And it became a horrible mess. Many Thanks for the workaround! - but I hope for a cleaner solution. -- mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 27037] Re: mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL
I have tried several things in /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf without sucess. And i think that the only way out of this is to rewrite the superblocks. But if that can not be done with the mdadm tool i am not willing to try, since i have no backup at this moment! One strange thing is that no fs type is set to 0xFD=Linux raid autodetect but the parititions are nevertheless detected and then md0 is stopped. I have drivers/md.c compiled in and is running debian. -- mdadm cannot assemble array as cannot open drive with O_EXCL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
