assumed that I use kscreensaver.
By upgrading (replacing the xdg-utils Ubuntu 14.04 package by the Upstream
xdg-utils version 1.1.1) I was able to fix the problem on my computer. I
suggest to backport xdg-utils

I'm now running kernel 3.11.0-031100-generic #201309021735 and now my
SDcard reader works just fine with this kernel. The problems I had with
Scard reader with the 3.8.0-31 kernel from Ubuntu 13.04 were solved for
me by upgrading to the mainline kernel.

package which used to add an entry to /etc/inittab on traditional Unix/Linux
systems to
start (and respawn) a certain demon.
When Ubuntu moved to upstart I added a /etc/event.d/-file template.
I just did a fresh install of 10.04 final (fresh ISO downloaded today).
The Compaq 610 switched off after approximately 30 seconfs.
During this time the screen displayed the new Ubuntu logo together with three
red and two white dots below. There is no visible action on the screen during

Ubuntu and more precisely which version of libpoppler you used.
From the Ghostscript version 8.62 I guess it is 8.10 (Intrepid).

Today I tried to print two 3449x2480 JPEG images using gthumb.
This failed with a very similar error
Error: /limitcheck in --array-- printed instead of the images.
Printing same sized images used to work on Hardy on the same printer.
The file that ended up in the /var/spool/cups directory now
0.8.7-1ubuntu0.1
installed. That solved the problem with printing larger images for me.

I had the same problem with Feisty.
But I found a workaround:
As Superuser I typed:
rmmod sbp2
modprobe sbp2
This had no effect at all. Than I tried:
rmmod ohci1394
modprobe ohci1394
Suddenly my firewire disk was recognized and the gnome
volume manager happily created all the icons
I can confirm the claim made by Fedor Isakov in comment number 8 above.
