click it the file is opened by the archive manager. I would expect the
installer to open the file just like in previous versions of Ubuntu.

It can't be a USB fault as copying is fine using 'cp' at a terminal and
the error occurs copying to hard disk in nautilus. As attached.
Triggering the error does not write anything to dmesg.

Just as a further check, I tried writing the image via Rufus & Etcher
and got the same result with with both images. I also tried re-
downloading the image.
