One other point relating to the fedora installation on iMac with two
monitors. At boot time the login screen is always on the external
monitor. During login the kde desktop starts up and the display switches
to the internal monitor. I had previously used xrandr to force the
display to be only on

Despite following instructions to create USB install media from ubuntu iso file
my iMac will not boot from it - message is 'no boot media found'.

live desktop, using the CD, have each got full device operation. Mouse
and keyboard are recognized in X.

Still no resolution of this problem. I have used kernel 3.8.0 under ubuntu
13.04 and am now using kernel 3.7.9 under archlinux.

Machine is iMac 21.5 (mid 2010), dual booting Lion 10.7.3 and precise.
Normally I run unity and all seems to work well.
Tried kde; dolphin failed to mount both my mac volumes (hpfs+ filesystem).
Log back to unity on same boot;
Am now using ocelot 12.04 (32-bit, for compatibility with printer driver) on my
iMac.
The recent update to linux-image 3.2.0.10.10 has changed suspend behaviour.
I can now suspend and resume correctly.
The earliest versions of image 3.2.0 did not resume.
For the moment this bug is fixed for me.

opening a new page in Firefox or while running a card game, I decided to revert
to Device vesa in xorg.conf. This is stable, shows no corruption at login and

After kubuntu update on 5 April the network manager shows one instance
of my network and still automatically connects and shows 'No active
connection'. If I want to see the signal strength I still have to go

First test of Suspend-to-RAM-Resume worked OK, then Hibernate-resume, which
failed.

Using kubuntu 9.04 patched up-to-date on Intel Mac Mini Core Solo with 2 GB RAM.
kmix:
Installed: 4:4.2.1-0ubuntu1
After a restart kmix shows the volume icon in the systell (notification) area.
Clicking on the Mixer button opens the channel
Continuing from my previous post, I have found a way to change the line that
says 'No active connection'
If I left-click on the network manager tray icon I get a list of access points.
I click my own AP and in the resulting 'Add network connection' dialog window
I enter my WPA-PSK password

After latest update today my Knetworkmanager display has changed. I can see one
instance of my wireless access point (and two others near me). On interface
eth1 it says 'Connected' and on the next line there is 'No active connection'.
