[Bug 1660645] [NEW] Connecting to unplugged ethernet network after suspend
Public bug reported: 1. Plug in an Ethernet cable to get Internet connection. (Wireless connections also present.) 2. Suspend the laptop. 3. Unplug the Ethernet cable. (And move to different location with Wi-Fi only.) 4. Wake up from suspend. 5. Wait few moments to connect to a known Wi-Fi network. 6. Try using the Internet. The Internet doesn't work, pages load indefinitely. The tray icon shows the wireless sign in the "connecting" state (animation). The tray menu shows one Ethernet connection. When I disconnect that one the Internet connection starts working immediately. The was not happening with 15.10 but happens to me regularly after upgrade to 16.04. I have Docker daemon running. [Bug 1442105] Re: GPS not working on my BQ Ubuntu Touch
how this can stll have the incomplete status? the gps is broken, it does not work on bq m10. the test_gps in /usr/bin results in segfaults. this is key feature of mobile (together with sensorsors) to do the cool stuff (not cool is like reading mail, tweeting, facebook, and other stuff calculating 1+1, at the moment ubuntu touch is capable only that), else I dont see what I need for the mobile linux. Public bug reported: 1. Start QtCreator 2. Go to Displays and change the resolution (and Apply) 3. QtCreator crashes This happens to me on Ubuntu 15.10 but I think I observed that on Lubuntu as well. [Bug 1523235] [NEW] Evince crashes when PDF is rewritten by pdflatex
Public bug reported: When using Evince as PDF viewer for work with LaTeX, Evince often crashes when pdflatex rewrites the PDF. This seems much likely to happen when pdflatex ended with an error in normal stop mode (-interaction errorstopmode). It happens however, in other pdflatex interaction modes and possibly even when the file is rewritten without any errors (although less likely). There are or were similar bugs, namely Bug #36250, Bug #16973, and Bug #137635, but this one seems different because it is happening only lately to me and these bugs are old. I was using this workflow in Ubuntu 14.04 and earlier and it worked well. Now I'm using Lubuntu 15.04 and the crash is almost regular (when pdflatex fails). I realize that the PDF is invalid, so it is a bad situation for Evince but in past Evince was able to deal with that. I think it was just showing the old version of PDF. [Bug 1274193] [NEW] Nautilus Extract Here interprets backslashes as characters not directories
Public bug reported: Nautilus 3.4.2 Extract Here function interprets backslashes as characters not directories in a ZIP file which probably has directories saved in some MS Windows way, so that directories are stored using backslash. I run Extract Here on a ZIP file and the result are files with backslash in file name, e.g. lf78011331_US_DEM/US_DEM\info\arc.nit lf78011331_US_DEM/US_DEM\us_dem\dblbnd.adf The expected result is what unzip gives me, e.g.: US_DEM/info/arc.nit US_DEM/us_dem/dblbnd.adf UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009 recognizes the directory structure and creates correct file names and directories. [Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find
Thanks to the people fixing this bug, in the first place. However, I'm sorry to put it in this way but Blaster pointed out what is the real bug which caused this one. It is the strange policy in the Nautilus development. This might be fixed by changing the policy or changing the file manager in Ubuntu. Because otherwise, we must ask what will be next? Removal of Home (/home/user) from the side bar and leaving there only (My) Documents, (My) Music and (My) Pictures as it is on Mac OS and some (all?) MS Windows? Removal of possibility to show hidden (.*) files or removal of list view because everyone wants big thumbnail anyway, right? ... I'm sorry to see developers spending their time reimplementing, debugging and fixing features which already had working implementations and were removed just few months before. [Bug 1268351] [NEW] Nautilus opens image viewer in foreground but viewer does not have focus
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 12.04 (with Unity), Nautilus 3.4.2 opens GNOME image viewer 3.4.2 in foreground when I (double)click on the image or open the image using selection and Enter (speaking about default PNG, JPG, ... file association). However, the viewer does not have focus. So, I have a window in foreground which at least partially hides the Nautilus window but when I press F11 to fullscreen, nothing happens and when I press Alt+F4, the Nautilus window is closed. So, I lose the currently opened folder or folders and I have to open the Nautilus window and navigate to them again. This is not such a issue when you use mouse only but when you use keyboard shortcuts it is very annoying. Moreover, it is inconsistent because it actually happens only when one other image viewer window is already open. How to reproduce: * open Nautilus and navigate to the folder with images * open one of the images [now the image viewer is in the foreground and has focus/context] * switch back to Nautilus * open different (or the same) image [now now the image viewer is in the foreground and does not have context] * try F11 [nothing happens] * try Alt+F4 [Nautilus window in the background is closed] This might be in fact the problem of the GNOME image viewer and not Nautilus, from user point of view they are very connected. [Bug 379367] Re: Gedit adding a newline at the end of file should be configurable
Can someone clarify the status of this bug report? I can see Invalid Fix Released seems really strange and there is no explanation how it was fixed (sorry, I'm not able to understand the proposed patches). Is there any other way how to changed it except for: gsettings set org.gnome.gedit.preferences.editor ensure-trailing- newline false or its GUI equivalent? Is there a option in Gedit preferences for this, so that it is visible to all users without searching online? Was the design decision reconsidered according the confusion it creates? See for example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3056740/gedit-adds-line-at-end-of- page Was the fact that that most of Gedit users are developers which want to take care about these things them selves or see the current state in the file? [Bug 1033226] Re: No close option, only restart
This was mentioned here almost 59+1 times already but anyway, it seems that it needs to be said again. The soft requirement to restart was one of the Ubuntu selling points. Removing the Restart later button (which was the defaut) accompanioned then by soft reminder -- a red turn off button (in Ubuntu 12.04) is a terrible mistake which will disappoint current Ubuntu users and will not atract new users (if they like the MS Windows behavior they will stay with MS Windows and will not move to Ubuntu just to experience the same forced update/restart policy). The security concerns should be expresed by soft reminders such as red turn off button (or check box I'm avare of the risk + check box Mark restart later as defaut button). From the fact that still in Ubuntu 13.10 it is possible to quit the application from the panel without any further reminder of the need of restart (e.g. the mentioned red trun off button), although the close button is disabled and Restart (now) is the only and perhaps also selected button, can be infered that security is not such a issue here, but this is a just naive end user guess (which will turn into usage patter of course since it is how it goes). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033226 Title: No close option, only restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1033226/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 396589] Re: Keyboard shortcuts to switch tabs
Alt+Left/Right Arrow is really nice but unfortunately, Kile is the only app which I'm using where it is like this (and the only KDE app which I'm using). So even though it is a really great shortcut which is maybe better than Alt+Number or Ctr+Tab, I need one of them to control Kile conveniently. (Anyway thanks humker for mentioning this shortcut, I can start using multiple tabs in Kile now). Possibility to change the short cut would solve the problem. Even better would be if Ubuntu Kile package has a default settings with Alternate (shortcut) set to appropriate value (Switch To Next Tab = Ctrl+Tab). For example Firefox and Chrome allows to use both Ctr+Tab and Alt+Num on Ubuntu. And to make the overview complete: Alt+Left/Right Arrow is Go Back/Forward in those browsers. [Bug 670085] Re: Clearlooks theme changes by itself
Hi, sorry for digging this out but I have the same problem on Ubuntu 10.04. Human-Clearlooks randomly changes to something which is similar to theme at the screenshot (Selection_001.png). For some windows only button and icons are affected but in most cases window borers are affected too. For the first time simple start of Appearance dialog switched everything back but after some minutes especially the squared corners appeared again. For the second time change of the theme helped but not for Nautilus even after closing all its windows (I suppose because it is still running). I'm experiencing this for one day. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670085 Title: Clearlooks theme changes by itself To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-themes/+bug/670085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 421118] Re: external keyboard not working until replug
I'm having this same problem on Lucid kernel: Linux version 2.6.32-27-generic (buildd@roseapple) (gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5) ) #49-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 1 23:52:12 UTC 2010 The mouse part of the system works from system startup, the keyboard does not, until it is replugged. If a second keyboard is plugged into the system, it works fine from power on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421118 Title: external keyboard not working until replug -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
