[Bug 1713212] Re: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker
I did manage to reproduce this after all. First thing: 234-2ubuntu10 indeed solves the problem in my manual test at least. All you need to do to reproduce this is start an artful container: docker run -ti ubuntu:artful bash then install systemd in it: Setting up systemd (234-2ubuntu9) ... ln: cannot remove '/etc/resolv.conf': Device or resource busy which I'm not really suprised about as the file is managed by docker. Debootstrap itself isn't directly affected by this when you run it yourself as it creates its own resolv.conf in the chroot, so I guess live-build had it's hand in this failure. In the builds for older releases this was a non-issue because we never install 'resolvconf' during the build, once you try to do this in the docker container itself, it crashes the same way. Xenial: Setting up resolvconf (1.78ubuntu4) ... ln: cannot remove '/etc/resolv.conf': Device or resource busy dpkg: error processing package resolvconf (--configure): so what happened here is really just that systemd started doing something it wasn't responsible for in the past. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713212 Title: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1713212/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1713212] Re: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker
For clarification, the environment the containers run with is: privileged: false, cap_add: ['SYS_ADMIN'], security_opts: ['apparmor:unconfined'] (see https://git.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ci-admins/kubuntu-ci/+git /pangea-tooling/tree/kci/imager.rb) what's not helpful is that running debootstrap in a container started on the shell with run --cap-add SYS_ADMIN --privileged=false --security-opt 'apparmor:unconfined' seems to work fine... (result: artful/etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf) so this might be related to some of the environment setup before live- build starts running - or that fact that it's running headless, but I did not have time to take a closer look at that. As for touching resolv.conf, live-build does mess with it later on in some way during the chroot build, but that happens far later during the build.

"No" - as I removed the kubuntu slideshow from the seed, so nothing tries to be rendered, and nothing crashes. [Bug 1560404] Re: Live session desktop uses to small folder view widget
** Description changed: + [Impact] + Thanks to bad event timing during the size calculation the folderview widget has a very small size when added to the desktop instead of the recommended size. This makes it unusable unless you manually resize it. + We use the folderview widget to display the installer icon on the live image, which makes the installer almost invisible as you can see on the screenshot. + + [Test Case] + This can be tested on any installed system and doesn't require an updated image. + - Try adding a folderview widget to your desktop by right clicking on the desktop -> Add Widgets -> select Folder View from the list. + - it will have a very small size and usually show part of an icon (see attached screenshot) + - install libkf5plasma5 and libkf5plasmaquick5 from proposed + - restart plasma using Alt+F2 and running 'kquitapp plasmashell; plasmashell' + or by restarting your login session. + - Try adding a folderview widget again using above steps + - it should now be large enough to show 2 rows, 3 columns of icons. + + [Regression potential] + The patch has been recommended by upstream, has not caused any direct regressions and no misbehaving widgets have been found by just adding this patch. + + [Original Description] Description: Ubutnu Xenial Xerus (development branch) Release: 16.04 kubuntu-settings-desktop Installed: 1:16.04ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:16.04ubuntu2 I we run live session either from USB or in virtual machine then the default Folder View widget with installation icon inside is rendered in small size, making the mentioned icon almost invisible (see attached screenshot). [Bug 1595405] Re: Akonadi depends on mysql but may be used with other backends
Hi, thank you for taking your time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. MySQL is a hard, non-removable dependency for akonadi because akonadi does not have a runtime backend detection mechanism. So if for whatever reason the mysql backend would not be installed by default or be replaced with a different backend, akonadi will show an error message saying that the MySQL backend is not functional. A common user is given no hint what is actually wrong, and most don't even know what MySQL even is. If you prefer to use a different akonadi backend, feel free to install one, but the core mysql packages cannot be removed to guarantee that akonadi will work fine in its default configuration. ** Changed in: akonadi (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1595405 Title: Akonadi depends on mysql but may be used with other backends To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/akonadi/+bug/1595405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We never shipped the debian menu packages (or at least we haven't in a long time) as KDE has it's own application menu that follows the Freedesktop specification for .desktop entries. If newly installed applications that ship a .desktop file don't appear in kickoff, then something might be going wrong with the application cache update there. If that issue persists, please file another bug and name the missing applications so we can investigate the problem further. The reason why I'm marking this bug as Won't Fix though, is that Debian decided to deprecate 'menu' and it will cease to exist in the future, see [1] for more information. [Bug 1571564] Re: Unable to install Kubuntu 16.04
So, I retested the final images (20160420.1) in both Virtualbox and on my nvidia optimus notebook. The virtualbox session crashes the install/live session screen (known issue) and threw me into a fully functional plasma session. While kubuntu-desktop is indeed not installed, the installation itself worked fine, and after resetting the system I had no problems booting it. On my notebook (on the intel GPU), the live session experience was exactly the same, but I did no install test. It would be great if someone with such a failed system could try to get a wired network connection, and run 'ubuntu-bug ubiquity' from there and open the bug reporting URL from another system (or write it down). If switching to a TTY doesn't work, The recovery mode from the GRUB "Advanced options from ubuntu" section has an option to drop you to a root shell. That should gather enough logs to tell us why plasma-desktop etc. was missing. If you still cannot file a bug with apport with that, try to at least get the logs from /var/log/installer and /var/log/apt - that can even be done from a Kubuntu 15.10 live session ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571564 Title: Unable to install Kubuntu 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-meta/+bug/1571564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
