[Bug 1713212] Re: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker

2017-09-02 Thread Philip Muškovac
I did manage to reproduce this after all.

First thing: 234-2ubuntu10 indeed solves the problem in my manual test
at least.

All you need to do to reproduce this is start an artful container:
docker run -ti ubuntu:artful bash
then install systemd in it:
Setting up systemd (234-2ubuntu9) ...
ln: cannot remove '/etc/resolv.conf': Device or resource busy

which I'm not really suprised about as the file is managed by docker.
Debootstrap itself isn't directly affected by this when you run it
yourself as it creates its own resolv.conf in the chroot, so I guess
live-build had it's hand in this failure.

In the builds for older releases this was a non-issue because we never
install 'resolvconf' during the build, once you try to do this in the
docker container itself, it crashes the same way.

Xenial:
Setting up resolvconf (1.78ubuntu4) ...
ln: cannot remove '/etc/resolv.conf': Device or resource busy
dpkg: error processing package resolvconf (--configure):

so what happened here is really just that systemd started doing
something it wasn't responsible for in the past.

[Bug 1713212] Re: changes in >= 234-2ubuntu7 for artful breaks kubuntu CI image build in docker

2017-08-29 Thread Philip Muškovac
For clarification, the environment the containers run with is:

privileged: false,
cap_add: ['SYS_ADMIN'],
security_opts: ['apparmor:unconfined']

(see https://git.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ci-admins/kubuntu-ci/+git
/pangea-tooling/tree/kci/imager.rb)

what's not helpful is that running debootstrap in a container started on the
shell with
run --cap-add SYS_ADMIN --privileged=false --security-opt 'apparmor:unconfined'
seems to work fine... (result: artful/etc/resolv.conf ->
../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf)

so this might be related to some of the environment setup before live-
build starts running - or that fact that it's running headless, but I
did not have time to take a closer look at that.

As for touching resolv.conf, live-build does mess with it later on in
some way during the chroot build, but that happens far later during the
build.

[Bug 1673394] Re: [FFe] upgrade KDE localisations/translations for KDE to 16.12

2017-03-16 Thread Philip Muškovac
As the kde applications don't ship their own translations but bundle
that in kde-l10n, the l10n version should always match the majority of
the app versions in a release. With most of apps 16.12 already in zesty,
this should be updated ASAP.

[Bug 1668552] Re: KDE Project Security Advisory: ktnef: Directory Traversal

2017-03-01 Thread Philip Muškovac
Ktnef exists in xenial and should be affected the same. As for kdepim, I
made a mistake when looking at the contents. The code is rather
different, so if the old ktnef from kdepim is affected then this is
relevant for trusty *and* xenial, not just trusty.

Title: ktnef: Directory Traversal
Risk Rating:Medium
CVE:TBC
Versions:   ktnef <= 5.4.2 (KDE Applications 16.12.2)
Date: 27 February 2017

Overview

A directory traversal issue was found in ktnef which can
be exploited by tricking a user into opening a malicious winmail.dat file.
The issue allows to write files with the permission of the user opening
the winmail.dat file during extraction.

Solution

Update to ktnef >= 5.4.3 (KDE Applications 16.12.3) (when released)

Or apply the following patch:

[Bug 1649231] [NEW] Sync kdesvn 2.0.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-12-12 Thread Philip Muškovac
Public bug reported:

Please sync kdesvn 2.0.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

All changelog entries:

kdesvn (2.0.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New major upstream release based on Qt 5 and KDE Frameworks 5 (KF5).
  * Update Build-Depends and .install files for the switch to Qt5/KF5.
  * Bump to debhelper compat level to 10.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.8.
  * Make sure the man pages are built and installed.

 -- Michael Biebl Fri, 09 Dec 2016 00:59:19 +0100

kdesvn (1.7.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update Homepage: field.
  * Drop kdesvn-dbg package now that we have automatic dbgsym packages.
  * Drop dh_makeshlibs override, no longer necessary now that libsvnqt is
gone.

 -- Michael Biebl Sun, 13 Mar 2016 18:12:21 +0100

kdesvn (1.7.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload.
  * New upstream release:
- the KIO slaves should respect all the attributes specified
  (Closes: #431839, #729417)
- fixes crash when getting logs (Closes: #753984)
- the build system does not provide a buggy "uninstall" target anymore
  (Closes: #800098)
  * Update watch file to the new location.
  * Remove extra libsoprano-dev build dependency, which was added as workaround
for a bug in kdelibs5-dev.
  * Fix "konqueror" typo in descriptions. (Closes: #613994)
  * Enable parallel build.
  * Disable the test suite: one of the test fails, and a different one requires
network access. The status of the test suite will be re-evaluated later.
  * kdesvn uses QtSql+QSLITE as database, so drop the libsqlite3-dev build
dependency, and add libqt4-sql-sqlite as dependency for kdesvn.
  * There is no more public libsvnqt shared library, so drop the libsvnqt7 and
libsvnqt-dev packages.
  * Update install files.
  * Bump the debhelper compatibility to 9:
- bump compat to 9
- bump the debhelper build dependency to >= 9
  * Update Vcs-* fields.
  * Fix enabling the kde dh addon: use "--with kde" instead of "--with-kde",
which also avoids the current dh_compress override (since this is what the
kde addon does).
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.7, no changes required.
  * Remove duplicated Section fields for the kdesvn and kdesvn-kio-plugins
packages.
  * Bump build dependencies according to the upstream build system:
- bump cmake to >= 2.8.12
- bump kdelibs5-dev to >= 4:4.9.0
  * Link in as-needed mode.

 -- Pino Toscano Sat, 13 Feb 2016 23:20:54 +0100

Right, the patches don't get applied anymore in yakkety.

The trusty issue technically has a different cause, but it's the same
issue so lets get both fixed.

[Bug 1594156] Re: KIPI plugins not working on Gwenview - Kubuntu 16.04

2016-09-02 Thread Philip Muškovac
This is a known issue, caused by gwenview being ported to Qt5, but not
kipi-plugins. We are working on getting digikam 5 ready for ubuntu, but
that will take a bit longer and might not make 16.10. We'll make it
available in the kubuntu backports PPA for 16.04 once it's ready.

[Bug 1595045] Re: Ubiquity Installer Crashes KDE Daily Build 16.10

2016-07-14 Thread Philip Muškovac
"No" - as I removed the kubuntu slideshow from the seed, so nothing
tries to be rendered, and nothing crashes. Hardly a solution to the
problem as now a user looks at an empty window while the installation is
running. I'm not sure if we have a separate bug about qyqt4.QtWebkit
missing (after talking to debian I agree that that's a good idea) or
porting our ubiquity frontent to Qt5.

[Bug 1560404] Re: Live session desktop uses to small folder view widget

2016-07-06 Thread Philip Muškovac
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ Thanks to bad event timing during the size calculation the folderview widget
has a very small size when added to the desktop instead of the recommended
size. This makes it unusable unless you manually resize it.
+ We use the folderview widget to display the installer icon on the live image,
which makes the installer almost invisible as you can see on the screenshot.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ This can be tested on any installed system and doesn't require an updated
image.
+ - Try adding a folderview widget to your desktop by right clicking on the
desktop -> Add Widgets -> select Folder View from the list.
+ - it will have a very small size and usually show part of an icon (see
attached screenshot)
+ - install libkf5plasma5 and libkf5plasmaquick5 from proposed
+ - restart plasma using Alt+F2 and running 'kquitapp plasmashell; plasmashell'
+ or by restarting your login session.
+ - Try adding a folderview widget again using above steps
+ - it should now be large enough to show 2 rows, 3 columns of icons.
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ The patch has been recommended by upstream, has not caused any direct
regressions and no misbehaving widgets have been found by just adding this
patch.
+
+ [Original Description]
Description: Ubutnu Xenial Xerus (development branch)
  Release: 16.04

  kubuntu-settings-desktop
  Installed: 1:16.04ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:16.04ubuntu2

I we run live session either from USB or in virtual machine then the
default Folder View widget with installation icon inside is rendered in
small size, making the mentioned icon almost invisible (see attached
screenshot). This widget size should be changed to make the whole icon
  inside visible.

need to get a working Live Session first.

So, I wasn't actually able to reproduce this with -ru (because that's
15.12.1 in -release), but with -nl (15.08.2). As the problematic breaks
are against << 4:15.08.3-0ubuntu2~ the update resolves the problem.

2016-06-23 Thread Philip Muškovac
Hi, thank you for taking your time to report this bug and helping to
make Ubuntu better.

MySQL is a hard, non-removable dependency for akonadi because akonadi does not
have a runtime backend detection mechanism. So if for whatever reason the mysql
backend would not be installed by default or be replaced with a different
backend, akonadi will show an error message saying that the MySQL backend is
not functional. A common user is given no hint what is actually wrong, and most
don't even know what MySQL even is.
If you prefer to use a different akonadi backend, feel free to install one, but
the core mysql packages cannot be removed to guarantee that akonadi will work
fine in its default configuration.

** Changed in: akonadi (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1509334] Re: [sru] plasma-nm blocks temporarily on startup w/o bluetooth device – KDE/Plasma very slow to launch (Kubuntu 15.10)

2016-05-20 Thread Philip Muškovac
To everyone that recently posted on this bug:

First of, thank you for taking your time to report your issues and
helping to make Kubuntu better, but if you experience a slow login
issue, please open a new report. This bug is specifically for an issue
with detection of bluetooth devices in plasma-nm and not a general slow
login issue collection tracker. This specific bug was fixed in 15.10 and
is closed.

Thank you

[Bug 1569674] Re: [Kubuntu] Fail to connect to wifi after a recent update

2016-05-17 Thread Philip Muškovac
Yes, this is related to the dropped WiMax support, see [1]. But plasma-
nm doesn't need a rebuild, nmqt needs its binary compatibility fixed.
That is pending in xenial unapproved because no archive admin had a
chance to review the fix yet.

[Bug 1576726] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-13 Thread Philip Muškovac
@Aron: No, it doesn't. But now I found out that it's not NM's fault but
caused by a strict "1.2.0" version check in nmqt which is supposed to
remove some API for 1.2, but ofc. didn't catch 1.1.93. I'm talking to
upstream how to resolve that, but this bug can proceed fine.

The network-manager 1.2 package seems to cause different symbol exposure in

I'm still investigation where that exactly comes from, but building

[Bug 1580343] Re: Packages menu and menu-xdg are missing on fresh 16.04 Kubuntu installation

2016-05-12 Thread Philip Muškovac
Thank you for taking your time to report this bug and helping to make
Kubuntu better.

But.. this is intentional. We never shipped the debian menu packages (or at
least we haven't in a long time) as KDE has it's own application menu that
follows the Freedesktop specification for .desktop entries.
If newly installed applications that ship a .desktop file don't appear in
kickoff, then something might be going wrong with the application cache update
there. If that issue persists, please file another bug and name the missing
applications so we can investigate the problem further.
The reason why I'm marking this bug as Won't Fix though, is that Debian decided
to deprecate 'menu' and it will cease to exist in the future, see [1] for more
information.

It can't.

I meant we support it packaging wise as some people prefer to use
another MySQL backend. But once you do that you're on your own.

2016-05-02 Thread Philip Muškovac
** Changed in: kamera (Ubuntu Xenial)

** Description changed:

- All versions of Xenial including all staging PPA's up thru plasma 5.5.5,
- the kamera module in System Settings->Hardware->Digital Camera reports
- the following error:
+ [Impact]
+ Due to a packaging issue, the package is unusable
+
+ [SRU Test case]
+ Open the KCM from systemsettings, or press Alt+F2 and run 'kcmshell5 kamera'
+ -> you will see an error window about a missing shared library
+
+ Install the package from xenial-proposed and try to open the kcm again
+ -> you should see the kamera KCM window
+
+ [Original report]
+ All versions of Xenial including all staging PPA's up thru plasma 5.5.5, the
kamera module in System Settings->Hardware->Digital Camera reports the
following error:

The Shared Library is not found.

  Possible reasons:
  - An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control
module
  - You have old third party modules lying around.

The Xenial session tested was download and installed fresh about a month
ago, so I doubt the reference to old third party module lying around.

[Bug 1576930] Re: Excessive consumption RAM of mysqld daemon in Kubuntu 16.04

2016-05-02 Thread Philip Muškovac
Regarding switching to MariaDB, that is supported, but you need to
replace mysql with mariadb in one go:

# apt-get install mariadb-client-core-10.0 mariadb-server-core-10.0

should give you:

The following packages will be REMOVED:
  mysql-client-core-5.7 mysql-server-core-5.7
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libreadline5 mariadb-client-core-10.0 mariadb-common mariadb-server-core-10.0

[Bug 1509562] Re: no icons for menu, folders, directories, files

[Bug 1571564] Re: Unable to install Kubuntu 16.04

2016-04-21 Thread Philip Muškovac
So, I retested the final images (20160420.1) in both Virtualbox and on
my nvidia optimus notebook.

The virtualbox session crashes the install/live session screen (known
issue) and threw me into a fully functional plasma session. While
kubuntu-desktop is indeed not installed, the installation itself worked
fine, and after resetting the system I had no problems booting it.

On my notebook (on the intel GPU), the live session experience was
exactly the same, but I did no install test.

It would be great if someone with such a failed system could try to get
a wired network connection, and run 'ubuntu-bug ubiquity' from there and
open the bug reporting URL from another system (or write it down).

If switching to a TTY doesn't work, The recovery mode from the GRUB
"Advanced options from ubuntu" section has an option to drop you to a
root shell. That should gather enough logs to tell us why plasma-desktop
etc. was missing.

If you still cannot file a bug with apport with that, try to at least
get the logs from /var/log/installer and /var/log/apt - that can even be
done from a Kubuntu 15.10 live session

[Bug 1565552] Re: Amarok unable to start in 16.04 beta

2016-04-05 Thread Philip Muškovac
Reassigning it to the PPA instead.

The problem is that the backports ppa for some reason unknown to me has
a beta build of amarok 2.9 that was never released anywhere else, and as
that seems to be incompatible with the rest of the software stack in
xenial, everyone that used the backports ppa in wily and upgrades to
xenial will run into this.

** Package changed: amarok (Ubuntu) => kubuntu-ppa

[Bug 1558978] Re: Black rendering of Qt Desktop and window components

2016-03-23 Thread Philip Muškovac
I'm closing this for now until I know more.

1.18.2 did not help with this, but instead I tried a daily build live
session and there the rendering was fine. So it looks like something
went wrong in the upgrade from trusty.

[Bug 1534263] Re: [FFe] [merge request] Import cmake-3.4 series to Ubuntu Xenial 16.04LTS

2016-03-22 Thread Philip Muškovac
I had done a no-change rebuild of the ~260 core kde packages against the debian
3.5 package in yofel/staging4, and other than a couple deprecation warning I
see no problems.
As the kde developers always use a recent version of cmake for development
there shouldn't be any issues for Kubuntu.
