That works for me, Tormod, thank you. Maybe this script could be added as an
intermediate solution, until a fix for the kernel can be released?
It would be great to not have the disks smashed up.

bad hard disk noise on shutdown

I'd suggest that this problem (which I see on a laptop with an ipw3945, too) is
due to the missing information which wireless network should be joined.
On a wired NIC, you can simply run dhcp commands and get an IP (or not). On a
wireless NIC, one normally has to specify the SSID of the network.
This bug has status Fix released, but you Louis still seem to have
this problem. If so, maybe the bug should be reopened.

Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode

No write access via gnome-vfs (sftp), documents opened readonly
With Ubuntu feisty, gnomevfs 2.18.0.1 and nautilus 2.18.0.1, that probleam
seems to be dealt with in same way:
Owner and group of a file a reportet as unknown and it is possible to change
permissions on that remote file.

I'd like to withdraw my statement that it works in Debian, which is
_not_ true. Debians OO.o and gnomevfs (whichever is the problem) suffer
from the same issue.
But, as stated above, gedit does open/save files on a sftp share if
either owner or group has read permission, like one would expect it.
I tried the uid-gid-hack.patch for gnomevfs.
It doesn't alter the situation for OO.o after all, but improves for the
corresponding nautilus upstream bug:

Openoffice won't open files using sftp:// in read/write mode
The attached file shows a section from OO.o source.
It checks if the remote file has owner or group matches the uid/gid of the
running Openoffice process (!)
This is all just plain wrong:
- Local and remote users/groups aren't necessarily matching.
- Openoffice checks things which lay in the
1 - 100 of 123 matches
