Hello Martin,

thanks for your bug report, the fix mentioned in the quote (1c78544eaa46
btrfs: fix wrong address when faulting in pages in the search ioctl) has
already been applied to the Focal master-next branch via stable update
process in bug 1896824.

It's expected to have this fix available in -updates after the upcoming
SRU cycle.

I will keep this report open to make it easier for others to find it.

[Bug 1900796] Re: plymouth in proposed cause F-5.8 unable to boot on moonshot ARM64 "Wrong Ramdisk Image Format"

2020-10-21 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
** Description changed:

+ Not sure if we still care, it's the old moonshot ARM64 node.
+
Issue found on ARM64 node ms10-35-mcdivittb0-kernel with F-5.8.
Install the plymouth package from proposed will cause system failed to boot,
with error message:
- Wrong Ramdisk Image Format
- Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid
+   Wrong Ramdisk Image Format
+   Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid

  It's 100% reproducible.

  Steps to reproduce this:
  1. Deploy Focal on this node (Architecture set to arm64/xgene-uboot, it can't
be deployed if set to arm64/generic, PXE boot failed with TFTP error: 'File not
found' (1))
  2. Enable proposed pocket.
  3. Install the linux-generic-hwe-20.04-edge and reboot
  4. It's now running with 5.8.0-25-generic on Focal
  5. Install plymouth from proposed and reboot

In step 5 it will generate the new boot image.

[Bug 1900796] [NEW] plymouth in proposed cause F-5.8 unable to boot on moonshot ARM64 "Wrong Ramdisk Image Format"

2020-10-20 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

Issue found on ARM64 node ms10-35-mcdivittb0-kernel with F-5.8.
Install the plymouth package from proposed will cause system failed to boot,
with error message:
  Wrong Ramdisk Image Format
Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid

It's 100% reproducible.

Steps to reproduce this:
1. Deploy Focal on this node (Architecture set to arm64/xgene-uboot, it can't
be deployed if set to arm64/generic, PXE boot failed with TFTP error: 'File not
found' (1))
2. Enable proposed pocket.
3. Install the linux-generic-hwe-20.04-edge and reboot
4. It's now running with 5.8.0-25-generic on Focal
5. Install plymouth from proposed and reboot

In step 5 it will generate the new boot image.

Hello,
as you said it's suddenly not working, does it work with older kernel on your
laptop? Which version is the working version? (run uname -a to get the kernel
version when you boot to an older kernel.)
Thanks

[Bug 1900088] Re: Improve descriptions for XFAIL cases in kselftests/net/psock_snd

2020-10-16 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
** Description changed:

  == SRU Justification ==
The test output in psock_snd.sh is confusing sometimes. Here is an output
example:
raw csum_off with bad offset (fails)
    ./psock_snd: write: Invalid argument

The first line is the test case description, and the second is the test
execution output.
It feels like this test has failed, but it has passed instead.
The "fails" here means this test is expected to fail. But you will have to
check the source code to know this fact.

  == Fix ==
  * 30ae801746ea selftests/net: improve descriptions for XFAIL cases in
psock_snd.sh

Change "fails" in the test case description to "expected to fail", so
that the test output can be more understandable.

- This test case exists since Bionic, and it can be cherry-picked.
+ This test case exists after Bionic, and it can be cherry-picked.

  == Regression Potential ==
Low, minor changes for test case description only.

Not sure if this is expected, but this is blocking the linux-gkeop-5.4
