2022-05-18 Thread Rahul-siddharthan
Update: this problem does not occur with firefox-trunk (version
101.0a1), which is installed via apt. I strongly suspect it is a problem
with the snap packaging of firefox.

[Bug 1971608]

2022-05-18 Thread Rahul-siddharthan
I do have gsfonts installed, version 1:8.11+urwcyr1.0.7~pre44-4.5 . As
noted, the font rendering is fine if I disable
"browser.display.use_document_fonts". So it is not a missing font
problem.

2022-05-05 Thread Rahul
Thank you for changing the "invalid" status. Here is the upstream bug
report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1767925

Since it is not seen by mint users I am guessing it is an issue with
snap.

I just updated to firefox 100 (ubuntu snap), the bug remains.

[Bug 1971608] [NEW] Firefox PDF font rendering is often messed up

2022-05-04 Thread Rahul
Public bug reported:

I don't know whether it is an ubuntu bug or a firefox bug but since I am
running the mozilla-supported ubuntu snap of firefox 99.0.1 (on 22.04
jammy) (firefox 100 not yet available on snap), posting it here.

Many pdfs have messed-up fonts on this firefox. Following a reddit
thread, I tried disabling browser.display.use_document_fonts in
about:config. Then the pdfs render correctly, but html webpages have
messed-up fonts.

Reddit post with screenshots and sample URL here; previous reddit thread linked
therein.
https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/uhz6d1/continued_messedup_font_rendering_in_firefox_pdf/

Others (on this and previous thread) report it doesn't happen on other
platforms. On this thread, someone confirms it on a Ubuntu VM, and
someone else says it doesn't happen on Mint (based on Ubuntu but I think
doesn't use snaps).

[Bug 1966197] Re: Cleaning netplans after removing wireguard interface

2022-05-02 Thread Rahul
Hi,
I do get the wireguard connections when i run "nmcli c"

when i delete those connections with nmcli c delete uuid. It deletes the
connections and clears the netplans too.

Thanks for the help. I guess this could be a temporary fix. Will there
be any update to delete it through the netplan.io?

[Bug 1966197] [NEW] Cleaning netplans after removing wireguard interface

2022-03-24 Thread Rahul
Public bug reported:

Hi, I am working on Ubuntu server 20.04 with network manager snap and
wireguard.

I can bring up wireguard interface using:

sudo wg-quick up

I can also bring it down with

wg-quick down

The netplan.io then, creates a yaml in /etc/netplan

When this inerface is deleted, this netplan is not removed.

Also, when i reboot, when i run:

sudo wg-quick up

the netplan creates a new yaml file with a different uuid, instead of
recogonising it already exists.

Due to this the netplan in /etc/netplan folder piles up.

How can I fix this issue?

On current hirsute, using 5.10.0-14-generic or 5.10.0-14-lowlatency,
bringing the included Wacom pen to the screen causes an instant lockup.
There is no solution except hard power off. It is 100% reproducible.

The last message in syslog before this freeze / force reboot seems to be
  "rfkill: input handler enabled".

This doesn't happen with upstream kernel 5.11.0-051100-generic or with
the 5.8 kernel 5.8.0-44-generic from groovy.

I am happy to give further information.
+
+ UPDATE 2021-03-18: with the hirsute kernel update to 5.11.0.11 the bug
+ has gone.

strace for gnome-shell shows no more errors on mouse / touchpad activity
and load remains low ..

it appears that the cause may be in broken Kernel drivers for intel chipset

I mean; does 'top' report constant CPU without moving the mouse, or was
that only with gnome-system-monitor? (bug 1773502)
-- top reports constant CPU without moving mouse ... and it increases to a
higher value on Mouse / touchpad activity this is even without Gnome-system

Yes ..

1. "Mouse " is touchpad on Logitech K400
2. no 'extensions' in the path

rahul@desktophp:~/.local/share/gnome-shell$ ls -al
total 12

-rw-r--r-- 1 rahul rahul0 Nov 11 2019 gnome-overrides-migrated

3. Attached is the screenshot in GNOME classic.. the CPU load do not change
with mouse / touchpad activity but is at constant ~ 20 % with all 4 cores
loaded without any activity!!

Re: [Bug 1902825] Re: High CPU usage just moving the mouse

2020-11-04 Thread rahul
Hello Daniel,

Here are the logs.

The top output is in gnome-shell file.

The Load goes up during mouse movement .. No lock screen on this system
!!

The behaviour is erratic, after fresh boot the load is very high initially
and GUI is very sluggish. it becomes usable after ~ 2 min. The load jumps
up and stays up randomly.

[Bug 1896637] Re: [Lenovo v310-15ISK] System booting is too slow. Application like chrome, spotify, Libre Office, etc open too slow.

2020-09-30 Thread Rahul Kumar Singh
After running this command sudo grep -r thermal-conf.xml /etc, nothing
will happened. But there is a file named thermal-cpu-cdev-order.xml.
This file is to be remove?

I used Ubuntu 18.04 LTS in past, this version were faster than Ubuntu
20.04 LTS.

I also change the default swappiness value(60) to 5 because it consumes too
much swap memory during copying any large file from flash disk or any other
devices to laptop and vice versa. During copying files, RAM is available but it
still used swap memory.
But before changing swappiness value, this version(20.04LTS) always perform
slower than 18.04LTS.

There is sometimes shows some firmware missing during boot. I used
legacy first boot method to install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. My motherboard
supports both Legacy First and UEFI method.

And there is always shows some error on every booting such as 'Sorry,
Ubuntu 20.04 experience an internal error' and 'System program problem
detected'. I were very few experiencing such error in Ubuntu 18.04LTS.

There is no 'tlp' installed in my system.

Thank you sir! For helping me :)

The result of disk speed by running sudo hdparm -t /dev/sda is:

/dev/sda:
 Timing buffered disk reads: 238 MB in 3.01 seconds = 79.14 MB/sec

And there is no any file named therml-conf.xml but there is file named
thermal-cpu-cdev-order.xml in /etc/thermald/ directory.

[Bug 1890785] [NEW] package nvidia-dkms-440-server (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: installed nvidia-dkms-440-server package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 10

2020-08-07 Thread Rahul
Public bug reported:

Updated to mainline kernel

I am aware that this will be marked as "not an issue".

But the machine gets heated up a lot.

And AMD Ryzen does not have seem to work, not even HDMI on 20.04 which
is 5.4 Kernel

One has to update to the mainline, one has no choice.

[Bug 1880653] Re: irq/126-aerdrv always eating 30-40 % of a CPU core

2020-05-26 Thread Rahul Iyer
Update - Tried Both these options.
1) Adding pcie_aspm=off to kernel parameters
2) adding pci=noaer to kernel parameters.
Doing either stops IRQ process hogging the CPU. Planning to go with
pcie_aspm=off.
Thank you.

[Bug 1800965] Re: Browsers don't display Devanagari script correctly

2019-10-07 Thread Rahul
+1 on this. Some ligatures are not rendered: eg, त्र is showing up as त्
र (two letters) with the default Ubuntu, because of this "Raghindi" font
setting. Changing it to (in my case) Noto fixes the rendering. I made
the change in my home directory (.config/fontconfig/conf.d/). Please
change this system setting.

2019-05-25 Thread Rahul Amaram
I have tested with the newly uploaded python-twext package in disco-
proposed and the issue is resolved. Tested version is:
1:0.1~git20161216.0.b90293c-1.19.04.1 .

Also, it has been more than 7 days since the package has been uploaded
to disco. So I belive it should be now ready to be released to -updates.

2019-04-24 Thread Rahul Amaram
Done. Kindly upload to disco.

** Description changed:

Please sync twextpy 1:0.1~git20161216.0.b90293c-2 (universe) from Debian
  unstable (main)

A corresponding Ubuntu freeze exception request has already been filed:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/twextpy/+bug/1821129

- Changelog entries since current disco version
- 1:0.1~git20161216.0.b90293c-1:
+ [Impact]
+ Continuous exceptions in log files when NSS directory service is enabled (See
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=925585). This was causing
excessive log activity and impacting functionality when using NSS directory
service.

- twextpy (1:0.1~git20161216.0.b90293c-2) unstable; urgency=low
+ The main problem is that there are constructors in NssUserRecord and
+ NssGroupRecord classes, which have different definition compared to the
+ constructions of the interface (parent class). To fix this, I have
+ removed constructors for NssUserRecord and NssGroupRecord classes
+ allowing them to fallback to the constructor of their parent class

- * Removed constructors for NssUserRecord and NssGroupRecord classes allowing
- them to fallback to the constructor of their parent class (Closes:
#923230)
+ [Test Case]
+ * Install calendarserver 9.2 and twextpy 1:0.1~git20161216.0.b90293c-1
+ * Set up NSS directory service as described in
/usr/share/doc/calendarserver/README.Debian.gz
+ * Start calendarserver
+ * Access a calendar using caldav client. Username and password will be that
of NSS user.
+ * You will see errors in calendarserver logs (/var/log/caldavd/error.log)

possibly broken functionality with one of the modules of calendarserver.
Could the latest version of twextpy from Debian unstable by synced to

[Bug 1798562] Re: After a side by side installation, resized filesystem is corrupted

2019-01-02 Thread Rahul Negi
Hello , I face same issue

it shows busybox command line and says file system is corrupted ( tells
to use fsck)

and after doing that from live disk ( i saw it was asking to move nodes
which repairing ) the next time system reboots the kernel panics, errors
were " not syncing attempting to kill" ," bad RF code "

im using windows 10 and ubuntu 18.10 alongside

i have installed it like 8-9 times and after 3-4 reboots , file system
corrupts

we can increase the fs corruption time if we do software update

after updating all updates , next reboot corrupts the filesystem ( does
not take more reboots )

[Bug 1776887] Re: Critical upstream bugfix missing in Ubuntu 18.04 - frequent Xorg crash after suspend

2018-07-14 Thread Rahul
I'm affected by this bug. I tried the patched kernel posted by
jsalisbury above (including modules and headers packages), but it boots
in low-res mode (640x480 -- should be 1920x1080), and glxinfo shows the
vendor as VMware and device as llvmpipe (should be Intel and Mesa). Is
any other information required?

2018-07-14 Thread Rahul
Forgot to say, this is Xubuntu 18.04. Previous kernel was 4.15.0-23.25.
I am trying 4.15.0-24.26 from the repo now.

2018-06-15 Thread Rahul kumar bhadani
Yes, I was applying updates from GUI.
But irrespective of that, where I apply updates from command line or from GUI,
it is a bug.
Me applying, updates from terminal doesn’t fix this bug :)

[Bug 1773347] [NEW] Not able to bind key combination in gnome-flashback

2018-05-25 Thread Rahul Ghanate
Public bug reported:

I am using Gnome Flashback with 18.04,
Whenever I run glipper I get below errors,

Binding shortcut c to popup glipper

** (glipper:21260): WARNING **: 16:30:12.450: Binding 'c' failed!
Changed process name to: glipper

It is not able to bind keycombination.
It's not about the same keycombination is being used, I can set any other
command binary to bind to that key combinations in keyboards->shortcuts
settings.

I tried with every possible key combination which can be bound but it is not
binding anything at all.
c
v
h
g
c
c
x

And stage thing is the key combination and glipper works fine in other
desktop environment like budgie-desktop or deepin.

It must be gnome-flashback issue which need to be handled in glipper
code.
