[Bug 1828025] [NEW] Gnome Multi monitors extension installed from apt is not loading

2019-05-07 Thread Rael Gugelmin Cunha
Public bug reported:

In a fresh install of disco release, if I install multi-monitors addon
from apt (sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-multi-monitors) and
reload Gnome, the extension will not load (Gnome Tweak will display the
error message "error loading extension").

In the other side, if I click in the error message from Gnome Tweak,
then Ubuntu Software is loaded, which will say that the extension is not
installed (wondering if it's because it uses extensions.gnome.org as
source).

Then if I install from Ubuntu Software (which I think uses
extensions.gnome.org) and reload, it'll work.

Probably the packaged version is not updated? (Packaged version is 16,
extensions.gnome.org version is 18).

Package version:

@Olivier, I installed a Win10 yesterday with no activation key, and ran
the upgrader tool in a old HDMI TV, and the upgrader said it cannot
upgrade (according the PDF is because my TV is not HDMI 2).

Anyway, I ran a workaround: edited pulseaudio config to power off the
display for 1 second and my sound is now working (at least for the

2017-10-27 Thread Rael Gugelmin Cunha
The Intel firmware upgrade is intended only for HDMI 2.0 displays. And,
interestingly, you can install it only if NUC is attached to a HDMI 2.0
device.

Public bug reported:

If I try install it on 16.04.3 (installed from a clean install from a
downloaded 16.04.3 image), I get this (what is weird, as xserver-xorg-

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2017-07-31 Thread Rael
Not sure if this is important, but I can notice the following: if I
switch to the second (or any other than me) logged user (Ctrl + Alt +
F8), it works normally. I can, then, in second Xorg session, select my
user from indicators and then log in.

And, I'm not sure if this is related, but appears that all the times
this happens, Unity dash launcher don't display icons for any
application (see attached screenshot).

@Andrea, yes, the username is properly displayed above the missing

@Mark, you have to:

1. go to a TTY (press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to open it) and run this command: sudo

2. get back to X.org (press Ctrl + Alt + F7)
3. now restart compiz with: compiz --replace

doesnt-move-to-the-opened-app

Run in a terminal:

gconftool-2 --type=Integer --set
/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/focus_prevention_level 0

This appears to be related to the way applications are raised from

[Bug 1306695] [NEW] Not proper setup for xboxdrv

2014-04-11 Thread Rael
Public bug reported:

In order to get xboxdrv properly working on Ubuntu 14.04, there are 2
missing setups:

1 - This package should remove xpad. Both should be not installed at the
same time, so probably xboxdrv and xpad should be marked as conflict
with each other.

2 - xboxdrv can work in 2 modes:

(a) run in userspace: not too user friendly, as the user has to manually
add each new controller (running it again);

(b) xboxdrv can run at system start, on systemd. This way it'll run as
daemon, always watching for new plugged controllers (preferable).

In order to achieve (b), one startup script will be required. On 14.04 I
created /etc/init/xboxdrv.conf with the following content:

start on filesystem
expect fork
exec xboxdrv --detach-kernel-driver

Of course, my use of fork and can be wrong, but is the way I found to
get the service command working fine.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-10-11 Thread Rael
My problem is: while using the US layout, the behavior is the same on Windows.
To me, ok, but when, as you guys, I put other non-tech people using Ubuntu,
it's a problem.

On Windows, when I use US international, and I type '+c, I get ç. When I
type '+I, I get I'. So, I can type portuguese and US stuff (for
programming) with no problem.

But, as we're discussing here, the behavior is different on Ubuntu. Not
sure if it's a bug, appears to be the Ubuntu way.

Anyway, I changed this (I'm using 12.04 LTS).

I did a bunch of stuff, not sure if all this is really required. Please,
correct me I'm wrong or doing unnecessary steps.

I used this .XCompose file in my home folder: http://www.raelcunha.com/.XCompose
Then I included in my .bash_profile and .profile:

export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim

Then I asked to Ubuntu use xim:

im-switch -s default-xim

Then I installed ibus-table-compose:

sudo apt-get install ibus-table-compose

Then logout and login.

Can someone from Ubuntu team tell me if all this is required?

[Bug 331369] Re: regression vs. notification-daemon: positioning when multiple screens are available

2013-09-17 Thread Rael
I decided to give a try to Unity, in 2013, on LTS (12.04).
And, while fighting to change font size, themes, I found this bug while working
with second monitor attached to desktop.
I.e., my configured as primary is the HDMI monitor at left. And the
notifications are displayed in the secondary (at right) monitor.
Any patch for Precise? I know there is a dconf workaround. But this is really
the Unity way? For anything I want to customize/fix, install a third party
program?

[Bug 774985] Re: kate does not load last-used session

2013-04-11 Thread Rael
This come back to me about one time in a week.

To fix, I always have to open the ~/.kde/share/config/katerc and put
back the following value for LastSession:

Last Session=mysession.katesession

Then, for some reason, sometimes the Last Session value get blank again,
and Kate do not restore the previous session.

[Bug 568435] Re: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/apache2: undefined symbol: apr_atomic_xchgptr

2010-12-17 Thread rael
I think the problem is that the apache are still using the old
libraries, i fix it removing manually the old libapr* that apache2 was
using (the path who shows ldd) and then reinstall the new libraries.

Hi!

I fix it removing manually the old libraries that I have on
/usr/local/lib and apache2 remains using that ones:
r...@posido:/home/rgarcia# cp -up /usr/local/lib/libapr* libapr/
r...@posido:/home/rgarcia# rm -i /usr/local/lib/libapr*
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libapr-1.a'? y
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libapr-1.la'? y
rm: remove symbolic link `/usr/local/lib/libapr-1.so'? y
rm: remove symbolic link `/usr/local/lib/libapr-1.so.0'? y
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libapr-1.so.0.2.12'? y
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libaprutil-1.a'? y
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libaprutil-1.la'? y
rm: remove symbolic link `/usr/local/lib/libaprutil-1.so'? y
rm: remove symbolic link `/usr/local/lib/libaprutil-1.so.0'? y
rm: remove regular file `/usr/local/lib/libaprutil-1.so.0.2.12'? y
and then reinstall the last version using the aptitude:
r...@posido:/home/rgarcia# aptitude install libaprutil1
libaprutil1-dev libapr1 libapr1-dev
and It works! :D
r...@posido:/home/rgarcia# /etc/init.d/apache2 start
* Starting web server apache2
If it doesn't work, check that you are using the correct apr libraries with
r...@posido:/home/rgarcia# ldd /usr/sbin/apache2
linux-vdso.so.1 = (0x7fffe4123000)
libpcre.so.3 = /lib/libpcre.so.3 (0x7f3a303b2000)

/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x7f3a3087d000)
I hope it helps.
