[Bug 1901586] Re: [snap] CA Certificates from /usr/local/share/ca-certificates are not used

2022-01-04 Thread Robert Sander
I am sorry, but this is not how this works.

We had /usr/local/share/ca-certificates an update-ca-certificates for
years working just fine.

This attitude lead me to dump chromium and use a non-snapped browser
now.

ceph-deploy has been written in Python and was never ported to Python 3.

May a dup of bug #1872212 ?

The solution there is to add --no-nvram to grub-install.

[Bug 1901586] [NEW] [snap] CA Certificates from /usr/local/share/ca-certificates are not used

2020-10-26 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

We have a company internal CA and placed its root CA certificate in
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates and ran update-ca-certificates. This
always worked for chromium based browsers.

With chromium-browser as snap in Ubuntu 20.04 this seems to not work any
more. Chromium reports invalid certificates as it cannot validate the
chain any more.

PLease make the snap version of Chromium use the certificates from the
system (out of /etc/ssl/certs etc).

2020-01-20 Thread Robert Sander

Hi,

the package Date::Calendar::Profiles contains a list of official

Berlin has a new holidy, the International Womens Day on March 8th which
is currently not on this list.

And in 2020 it has a one time holiday on May 8 to commemorate the end of
world war 2. But I do not knwo how to add a single date to that list.

[Bug 722201] Re: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings

2019-05-29 Thread Robert Sander
Please to not create a hard dependency on any of the mentioned cluster
filesystems (and Ceph) as only one of them is needed torun CTDB.

The latest CTDB is also able to store the recovery lock as a RADOS
object in Ceph. In addition with the Ceph VFS module for Samba CephFS is
not needed as a mount for example.

This is called an interface label, the iproute2 syntax is as follows:

ip address add bbb.bbb.bbb.bbb/24 dev eth0 label eth0:0

netplan should support this configuration.

This behaviour is only observed when rpc.rquotad is told to run on a
specific port with e.g. RPCRQUOTADOPTS="-p 599" in /etc/default/quota.

I need this because I am running a ctdb cluster with Samba and NFS on
top of CephFS. Every node needs to have the NFS services on the same
ports.

[Bug 1746871] [NEW] Postgresql service unit name wrongly cutted

Public bug reported:

[Bug 722201] Re: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings

2017-12-16 Thread Robert Sander
Additionally it is necessary to create a file /etc/modprobe.d/lockd.conf
with this content:

 # Set the TCP port that the NFS lock manager should use.
 # port must be a valid TCP port value (1-65535).
 options lockd nlm_tcpport=599

 # Set the UDP port that the NFS lock manager should use.
 # port must be a valid UDP port value (1-65535).
 options lockd nlm_udpport=599

Lockd as a kernel process has to listen to the same port on every
machine in the CTDB cluster.

[Bug 722201] Re: CTDB port is not aware of Ubuntu-specific NFS Settings

2017-12-09 Thread Robert Sander
This patch makes nfs-kernel-server work with ctdb.

It rewrites the code to use /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server and the
correct systemd service.

As the is a unit nfs-mountd.service that gets started from nfs-kernel-
server.service as requirement and this unit only uses $RPCMOUNTDARGS the
setting in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server should be

 # MOUNTD_PORT=597
 RPCMOUNTDOPTS="-p 597"

[Bug 1737250] [NEW] systemd-resolved returns only short hostname when PTR record of local IP is requested

2017-12-08 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 17.10 comes with systemd-resolved as the default local resolver.

When querying the PTR record of any local IP address it returns only the
hostname (without domain) and does not forward the query to the
available nameservers.

This results in unwanted results.

How do I change that behaviours without disabling and masking systemd-
resolved and manually putting the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf?

Example:

root@files05:~# host 192.168.48.115
115.48.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer files05.
root@files05:~# host 192.168.48.116
116.48.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer files06.example.net.
root@files05:~# host 192.168.48.120
120.48.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer files05.
root@files05:~# host 192.168.48.120 192.168.48.2
Using domain server:
Name: 192.168.48.2
Address: 192.168.48.2#53
Aliases:

120.48.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer fileserv.example.net.

[Bug 1616363] [NEW] xosview trips over /sys/class/net/bonding_masters

2016-08-24 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

When trying to start xosview on a server with a bonding network device
xosview stops with the error:

Can not open file : /sys/class/net/bonding_masters/statistics/rx_bytes

It looks like xosview only expects symlinks to network device in
/sys/class/net/ and automatically assumes they have subdirectories.

/sys/class/net/bonding_masters is a file that contains the device names
of the bonding devices and not a symlink. Xosview needs to take that
into account.

[Bug 1528537] [NEW] Invalid host route to default gateway set with net_gateway option

2015-12-22 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

We are pushing routes from our OpenVPN server as follows:

push "route 203.0.113.0 255.255.255.0"
push "route 203.0.113.64 255.255.255.248 net_gateway"

i.e. we want 203.0.113.0/24 routed through the VPN tunnel but not
203.0.113.64/29 which shoould be routed via the default gateway of the
client.

The client does not set a default route through the VPN tunnel.

When running openvpn from the command line everything works as expected,
a separate route for 203.0.113.64/29 is created.

With NetworkManager odd behaviour is observed:

The default gateway (e.g. 192.168.1.1) gets a host route through the
tunnel. In the end that disables all network traffic because OpenVPN is
not able to route its own packets.

Something in the combination of OpenVPN and NetworkManager gets confused
when it sees a route pushed with "net_gateway".

[Bug 1426910] [NEW] kdb5_ldap_util creates principal with wrong DNS domain

2015-03-01 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

If there is more than one domain in the search line of
/etc/resolv.conf when kdb5_ldap_util create is used to populate the LDAP
directory, a wrong hostname is composed.

kdb5_ldap_util seems to use the last domain name of the search list,
which is obviously not always correct.

Maybe kdb5_ldap_util should use an algorithm like hostname --fqdn to
determine the fully qualified domain name of the host.

[Bug 905660] Re: [ifupdown] ipv6 refuse vlan interfaces

2014-08-10 Thread Robert Sander
It looks like ifupdown tries to configure the VLAN a second time when it
comes across the inet6 definition in /etc/network/interfaces.

This fails as the VLAN interface was already setup in the inet
definition of the same interface. It looks like a conceptual error in
the interfaces(5) syntax.

The problem does not exist when packages are served from the cache.

The problem ist when the package to be installed is not in the cache of
apt-cacher-ng and needs to be downloaded. This is very slow and way
below the possible speed of the Internet connection. When not using apt-
cacher-ng in such situations the download speed is as expected.

[Bug 1270193] Re: /etc/init.d/munin-node not systemd compliant

2014-01-17 Thread Robert Sander
The impact is that it is impossible to stop munin-node with

sudo /etc/init.d/munin-node stop

because systemd will automatically restart it.

[Bug 1210693] Re: Upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04 breaks Google Chrome

2013-10-29 Thread Robert Sander
Correction: The dependency contains: libudev0 (= 147) | libudev1 (=
198)

The postinst script of the package create a symlink in
/opt/google/chrome that points to the current libudev. Which is kind of
strange...

A solution is to reinstall the google-chrome package. No need to install
libudev0.

[Bug 1205122] Re: check_mk_agent generates heartbeat errors

2013-09-24 Thread Robert Sander
This happens because the check_mk agent looks for crm and cl_status CLI
tools.

crm is in package pacemaker and cl_status in heartbeat.

If you have setup your cluster with heartbeat+pacemaker you have both
CLI tools, but only crm will work.

[Bug 1097276] [NEW] missing dnsmasq config lines

2013-01-08 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

I have configured an OpenVPN tunnel with a manual route to
192.168.48.0/20 and a DNS server at 192.168.48.2.

Network-Manager updates the dnsmasq config in /var/run/nm-dns-
dnsmasq.conf with the line

server=/48.168.192.in-addr.arpa/192.168.48.2

but misses all other /24 that are contained in this /20 (49 - 63.168.192

The pacemaker init.d script misses corosync in the Required-Stop:
line.

[Bug 1037030] [NEW] Fonts in /etc/X11/app-defaults/XLess are not available

2012-08-15 Thread Robert Sander
Public bug reported:

The fonts defined in /etc/X11/app-defaults/XLess are not available:

*labelFont: -adobe-times-medium-r-normal--12-120-75-75-p-*-iso8859-1
*buttonFont:-adobe-new century
schoolbook-medium-r-normal--12-120-75-75-p-*-iso8859-1

Every time xless starts it complains about that:

$ xless
Warning: Cannot convert string
-adobe-times-medium-r-normal--12-120-75-75-p-*-iso8859-1 to type FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string -adobe-new century
