I don't know how to capture the xorg.log file on my USB flash drive
while booting the Live CD.
If there is a procedure to capture this via kernel options, etc. I would
be willing to contribute this too.
How would I resume the Live CD boot from a init=/bin/bash option, if
possible?

I captured the result of lspci -vvnn.
I experimented until I fount the correct init value:
init=/bin/bash
(duh!) ;-)

I'd love to help and give you some helpful log files, etc. but I don't
know the proper path to use for lspci, etc.
I tried the boot option of init=sh and it said:
Target filesystem doesn't have sh.
