Also getting a freeze during installation of ubuntu desktop 18.04. As Leandro wrote: "I'm able to click in continue in language selection, but it freezes on keyboard layout selection." The environment is a packet.com bare metal server running VMware ESXi 6.5, size c1.small. Install Ubuntu as guest VM. This may be reproducible if you go to packet.com and try the same configuration. After multiple attempts, the keyboard seems to freeze at some point every time. Not consistent. Then, switched to ubuntu server 18.04 instead of desktop. It had a different set of installer screens. The server setup successfully made it through to completion, so the problem was just on the desktop version.
