[Bug 175983] Different keys clear cell contents in Windows vs. Linux

2007-12-12 Thread Sam Glover
Public bug reported:

In Windows, the backspace key deletes the contents of a cell, while the
delete key brings up the delete contents menu with checkboxes. In
Linux, the keys are reversed. It seems these should be made the same for
the sake of consistency.

Sorry for my lack of specificity. I am talking about Calc. This
inconsistency/bug has been present since I started using OOo during v2.1.

That won't work for the apostrophe, only for quotes.

 Hi Sam,

you can also use the openoffice autocorrect feature to use custom quotes

[Bug 163105] Writer uses straight ticks instead of apostrophes

2007-11-16 Thread Sam Glover
Public bug reported:

When typing an apostrophe (’), Writer instead inserts a straight tick
(').

I thought it might be an issue with my installation or template, but it
is the same in both WIndows XP and Ubuntu 7.10 on my computer. I also
went back to the default template, which did not fix the problem.

2007-11-16 Thread Sam Glover
I am using standard U.S. keyboard layout on my ThinkPad. I get normal
apostrophes in all other programs in both operating systems.

 Hi,

could you try the apostrophe keys in other programs than writer :
gnome-terminal and gedit for example : does this have the same problem ?

if so, could you say what keyboard layout you are using ?

thanks,

 Koen

Re: [Bug 163105] Re: Writer uses straight ticks instead of apostrophes

2007-11-16 Thread Sam Glover
Correction. I now get straight ticks in all programs in both operating
systems except for Word 2007.

I can't explain the change, but I checked other programs before reporting
this as a bug, and every other editor was using proper apostrophes before.
Either Writer somehow managed to affect the system-wide settings, or I have
a hardware problem.

[Bug 159095] SUM error (incorrect sum)

2007-10-31 Thread Sam Glover
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-calc

Cells a8 through a23 are currency (USD). Cell a23 has the following
equation: =SUM(a8:a22).

a8 through a11 have the following values: $6.31, $77.12, $36.17, $4.00.
These add up to $123.60, but cell a23 shows $123.59.
