[Bug 2042859] Re: [snap] Firefox snap cannot use kerberos authentication

2024-02-26 Thread Santiago Gala
In bug #1970182 there is a workaround for the issue: adding something
similar to

default_ccache_name = FILE:/home/%{username}/krb5cc

under [libdefaults] will make the ticket store visible to firefox and,
thus, fix the authentication.

[Bug 1970282] Re: Flatpak apps are not properly themed if a accent color other than the default is choosed

2022-04-29 Thread Santiago Fernández Núñez
I've read a little more and it seems that the Flatpak themes in Flathub
are not necessarily the ones from Yaru but others created by a fork
called Yaru-Colors. Maybe that's related with what @inzrtuzr said about
version numbers (?).

[Bug 1970282] Re: Flatpak apps are not properly themed if a accent color other than the default is choosed

2022-04-29 Thread Santiago Fernández Núñez
Hi @nnicocarbone. I didn't know I needed to install the accent color
themes manually (I'd say most users wouldn't know how to do it). I
visited Flathub and now I have these themes installed:

- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru
- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru-Orange
- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru-Orange-dark
- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru-Orange-light
- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru-Orange-light
- org.gtk.Gtk3theme.Yaru-dark

I've selected the dark theme and an orange accent in Ubuntu but
Extension Manager is still showing a blue accent.

[Bug 1970282] Re: Flatpak apps are not properly themed if a accent color other than the default is choosed

2022-04-28 Thread Santiago Fernández Núñez
I'm also seeing this. There are popular GNOME apps that recommend
installing them as Flatpak so it could generate some inconsistency.
Extension Manager is a full GTK 4 app and it doesn't respect the system
choice.

2022-01-05 Thread Santiago Ramírez
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected impish ubuntu

** Description changed:

After updating to kernel 5.13.0-23 I started having issues. Startup and
  logging are extremely slow.

When I try to run firefox a dialog box shows up saying it is not
respondig and asking to wait or forcequit. If a wait it eventually opens
(after over a minute) and seems to work correctly. Similar issues occur
when trying to run mpv. In some cases the computer might even hang
  completely.

  I am running Ubuntu Budgie 21.10 (budgie-desktop 10.5.3). I also have
Xmonad installed. Xmonad starts much quicker but has the same issues
  when running applications.

The problems seem to be solved by booting with kernel 5.13.0-22 or
  kernel 5.13.0-23 with nomodeset.

- I am using an HP computer with an AMD Ryzen 3 cpu with Radeon Vega
- Mobile Gfx.

[Bug 1956005] [NEW] Firefox Snap won't open links to WhatsApp API

2021-12-29 Thread Santiago Fernández Núñez
Public bug reported:

The .deb version of Firefox handles links to WhatsApp API
(https://api.whatsapp.com/send/?phone=) without any problem: these
links open the WhatsApp web client.

Snap version of Firefox doesn't know how to handle these links. It opens
the pop up "Choose an application to open whatsapp lnks" that only shows
the option System Handler (which fails opening them if selected).

Choosing Firefox is not possible as /bin and similar folders are out of
range for the snap.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

[Bug 1945961] [NEW] mininet's pingall doesn't work correctly with iputils-ping and locale different to English

2021-10-04 Thread Santiago Ruano Rincon
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Release:20.04
Codename: focal

mininet version 2.2.2-5ubuntu1, but also tested with 2.3.0-1ubuntu1 from
impish.

mininet is not able to parse the ping output in a localised environment,
for languages other than English. For example, this is running on
fr_FR.UTF-8:

$ sudo mn

I can workaround the problem with LANG=C:

[Bug 1945327] [NEW] Touchpad recognized as mouse - Multitouch gestures not working

2021-09-28 Thread Santiago Persico
Public bug reported:

I'm having a problem with my laptop, as the title says: The trackpad is
being recognized as a mouse, so I don't have multitouch gestures, other
than scrolling.

I can't switch apps with gestures, I can't change trackbar specific
configurations, because, according to the System Settings panel, I've
got a mouse, not a trackpad.

Not only that, but I had this same problem in Linux Mint and Ubuntu Mate
18.04, so I believe that it's not a distro-specific problem, so I don't
know if this is the correct channel.

Initially the ticket was generated from Kubuntu 18.04 (the commands I've
run are from that version, IRC), since then, I've updated to Kubuntu
20.10

I've tried following a couple of other guides to try to make the
multitouch gestures work, but most are for previous kernel versions and
are focused on just making the touchpad work, AFAIK.

My laptop is a Lenovo V330-15IKB.

Here's the System info according to the About tab in the System Settings
app:

Operating System: Kubuntu 20.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Kernel Version: 5.8.0-63-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz
Memory: 11,0 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620

-
I've opened the laptop, and took pictures of the insides, the ALPS chip says
the following:

I've also uploaded the photos to Google Drive, there were some serial
numbers and whatnot in them:

[Bug 1875671] Re: wayland: desktop folder missing in sidebar

2021-05-13 Thread Santiago Fernández Núñez
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/2569 has been closed. The
final comment says "the gtk-shell-shows-desktop capability is sent from
the Shell on Wayland, so it's entirely up to the shell to determine
whether or not the desktop is available".

So: who is responsibly for fixing this? Is it something that depends on
the Ubuntu implementation or something that Gnome doesn't want to fix?

[Bug 1924253] [NEW] Touchpad does not work. Not even detected. New computer.

2021-04-15 Thread Santiago Cordero Misteli
Public bug reported:

I bought a new Laptop (Hp with AmD Ryzen 7). I assume (and hope) that
all the other technical descriptions have been sent to you by the bug
report.

It did already happen in the installation medium (a flash key) and I
couldn't resize the partitions, had to borrow a mouse from a friend to
even install Ubuntu.

I attach the output of < ~/devices>> as requested
in this page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection

I don't know how to locate the exact package where the bug is or if is
one of the kernel.

Cool. I can't believe that my notebook is working so fine now...

In line 73 of install.sh we can list the model UX363EA as a option,
after M433IA.

Thanks for your time and patience.

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2021-04-04 Thread Santiago A Mendez de PAula
Great. You can introduce in the install.sh a option for ZenBook
UX363EA_UX363EA. And a new .py file to this notebook.

If you do this I test it to check that it's ok.

For touchpad_numpad_m433ia.py I have edited the lines 9 and 10, fixing
the interface to turn ON/OFF. Because my touchpar interface is the 14,
as we can check here:

# i2cdetect -l
i2c-3 i2c i915 gmbus dpb I2C adapter
i2c-10 i2c i915 gmbus tc6 I2C adapter
i2c-1 i2c Synopsys DesignWare I2C adapter I2C adapter
i2c-8 i2c i915 gmbus tc4 I2C adapter
i2c-6 i2c i915 gmbus tc2 I2C adapter
i2c-13 i2c AUX E/port EI2C adapter
i2c-4 i2c i915 gmbus dpc I2C adapter
i2c-11 i2c AUX A/port AI2C adapter
i2c-2 i2c i915 gmbus dpa I2C adapter
i2c-0 smbus SMBus I801 adapter at efa0 SMBus adapter
i2c-9 i2c i915 gmbus tc5 I2C adapter
i2c-7 i2c i915 gmbus tc3 I2C adapter

i2c-5 i2c i915 gmbus tc1 I2C adapter
i2c-12 i2c AUX D/port DI2C adapter

And I edited the line 25 to:
if touchpad_detected == 0 and "Name=\"ASUE" in line and "Touchpad" in line:

I have replaced line 99:
dev.enable(EV_KEY.KEY_APOSTROPHE)

by:
dev.enable(EV_KEY.KEY_5)

Line 234
value = EV_KEY.KEY_APOSTROPHE

And line 249:

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2021-04-04 Thread Santiago A Mendez de PAula
Thanks Mohamed.

I have tested your suggestion, but don't worked for me. Maybe I'm not
doing it right. I have a qwerty keyboard, Spanish distribution.

I have replaced line 99:
dev.enable(EV_KEY.KEY_APOSTROPHE)

by:
dev.enable(EV_KEY.KEY_5)

And line 234
value = EV_KEY.KEY_APOSTROPHE
by:
value = EV_KEY.KEY_5

I also noticed this piece of code, that I'm not sure if I need to change too
(line 249):
 # Send press key event #
if value == EV_KEY.KEY_KEY_APOSTROPHE :
events = [
 InputEvent(EV_KEY.KEY_LEFTSHIFT, 1),
 InputEvent(value, 1),
 InputEvent(EV_SYN.SYN_REPORT, 0)
]
else:
events = [
InputEvent(value, 1),
InputEvent(EV_SYN.SYN_REPORT, 0)
]

I'm doing it right?

Very thanks for your help here :D

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2021-04-04 Thread Santiago A Mendez de PAula
Just testing the script for ZenBook UX363EA_UX363EA, with ubuntu 20.04.
The available script named touchpad_numpad_m433ia.py works for me with a
minor fix, as I can describe:

1) install.sh script detects the correct interface of the numeric pad:
# bash install.sh
Testing interface i2c-1 : failed
Testing interface i2c-14 : sucess ...

Then I could test edit boot python scripts I found inside the folder and
test it.

2) For touchpad_numpad_m433ia.py I have edited the lines 9 and 10,
fixing the interface to turn ON/OFF.

I edited the line 25 to:
if touchpad_detected == 0 and "Name=\"ASUE" in line and "Touchpad" in line:

Known issues:

My numeric pad has % key, but don't works. On the code as mapped to
"APOSTROPHE".

I checked here,
https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/v5.11.11/source/include/uapi/linux
/input-event-codes.h , to try to fix it, but I have not found the
corresponding entry.

Please if you known how to fix it, let me know.

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2021-03-30 Thread Santiago A Mendez de PAula
Also affected by this issue. Asus Zenbook Flip 13 UX363EA. Ubuntu 20.04.

I can turn on/off the numberpad lights with the commands:

i2ctransfer -f -y 14 w13@0x15 0x05 0x00 0x3d 0x03 0x06 0x00 0x07 0x00 0x0d 0x14
0x03 0x01 0xad
i2ctransfer -f -y 14 w13@0x15 0x05 0x00 0x3d 0x03 0x06 0x00 0x07 0x00 0x0d 0x14
0x03 0x00 0xad

But the numberpad don't works as expected (as a numeric pad).

I have this

# i2cdetect -l
i2c-3 i2c i915 gmbus dpb I2C adapter
i2c-10 i2c i915 gmbus tc6 I2C adapter
i2c-1 i2c Synopsys DesignWare I2C adapter I2C adapter
i2c-8 i2c i915 gmbus tc4 I2C adapter
i2c-6 i2c i915 gmbus tc2 I2C adapter
i2c-13 i2c AUX E/port EI2C adapter
i2c-4 i2c i915 gmbus dpc I2C adapter
i2c-11 i2c AUX A/port AI2C adapter
i2c-2 i2c i915 gmbus dpa I2C adapter
i2c-0 smbus SMBus I801 adapter at efa0 SMBus adapter
i2c-9 i2c i915 gmbus tc5 I2C adapter
i2c-7 i2c i915 gmbus tc3 I2C adapter
i2c-14 i2c Synopsys DesignWare I2C adapter I2C adapter
i2c-5 i2c i915 gmbus tc1 I2C adapter
i2c-12 i2c AUX D/port DI2C adapter

I have no experience with the i2c tools, and I don't know if here is the
right place to ask, but how can I found this part of the command, to
apply to my hardware: "w13@0x15 0x05 0x00 0x3d 0x03 0x06 0x00 0x07 0x00
0x0d 0x14 0x03 0x01 0xad"? The first half of the command I undestood,
but no how to found the rest.

2020-11-11 Thread Daniel Martínez Santiago
Hello, as I've already told you, it is not possible to disable my nvidia
GPU on my BIOS at all, and Windows 10 detects it just fine.

I've installed the driver you tell me and thats what I get when I try to
open some nvidia driver related applications:

daniel@daniel-PC:~$ nvidia-smi
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver.

upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 using a Dell ThinkPad. Do you think
it's possible that the regression affects this model as well? Thanks!

[Bug 1882542] [NEW] regression: 8789f9108 broke environment-variable preservation

2020-06-08 Thread Ed Santiago
Public bug reported:

Commit 8789f910812afbf6b87dd371ee5ae30592f1423f ("support parallel
execution of tests") broke existing BATS behavior in which a test file
can set environment variables to be shared between subtests:

if [ -z "$MYSTATE" ]; then
do something
export MYSTATE=something-to-be-used-by-all-tests

Attached is a reproducer. It passes in 8789f9108^ and, more importantly,

[Bug 1878315] Re: Ubuntu is unable to detect my GPU

2020-05-15 Thread Daniel Martínez Santiago
No, it happens all the time. You can do a full reboot, you can
sleep/unsleep, shutdown... but the card isn't still detected. Also my
computer has a indicator on the Power button that shows whenever the
Nvidia Graphic Card is used. This is independent of the OS and of the
drivers and it has never turn on on my system after the upgrade to
Ubuntu 20 (but in Windows it still works).

Also, apparently my CPU is now a Xeon, and I didn't know it.

$ lspci

(It's actually an i7-7700HQ).

[Bug 1878315] [NEW] Ubuntu is unable to detect my GPU

2020-05-12 Thread Daniel Martínez Santiago
Public bug reported:

I have an MSI laptop which was working fine with Ubuntu 18, but I
decided to upgrade. It has one of these dual graphics setups, which and
Intel HD 630 and a NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB. On Ubuntu 18, I simply get the
NVIDIA GPU to work by selecting its drivers on the "Additional Drivers"
tab under "Software and Updates", but on this version of Ubuntu, my GPU
doesn't appear there any more.

Also, if I type this in the console: $ lspci | grep -i --color
'vga\|3d\|2d'

This is the only line I get: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel
Corporation HD Graphics 630 (rev 04)

Just in case, my laptop model is this: https://es.msi.com/Laptop/GL72VR-
7RFX

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I forgot to say that I also have Windows on dual boot and the GPU works
perfectly fine there. Also, it is not disabled on the BIOS or something
like that. I don't think that is even possible on my BIOS either.

[Bug 1858300] [NEW] Ubuntu crashed unexpectedly, couldn't find i386-pc/normal.mod, system doesn't boot

2020-01-04 Thread Santiago Ramos
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure. First I tried to locate where is the i386-pc/normal.mod from
which start the system, it didn't work. Tried to reinstall Ubuntu deleting the
previous one, and couldn't find EFI file, so the system won't boot,
installation didn't end right. It's not clear for me if there is a relationship
between those situations. I just would like to have access back to my computer
after the whole day trying solutions.
Thanks!

[Bug 1845772] [NEW] package nvidia-dkms-430 430.50-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: installed nvidia-dkms-430 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 10

2019-09-28 Thread Santiago
Public bug reported:

This error pops-up every time I start the computer. Since the update to
eoan, this pop-up appears, however, I didn't trust that it worked on
disco either, as I have a hardware light indicating wether I'm using or
not my GPU, and even though I had the option "Nvidia on demand", my GPU
was still being used every time, so I think there's something wrong with
the driver itself, ad it's not controlling the use of the GPU.

[Bug 1686084] Re: x11vnc terminates with **stack smashing detected** error

I'm seeing it consistently on 18.04.3 LTS. Fairly easy to reproduce by
installing idle in the machine running x11vnc, starting idle and
clicking in any of the menus. 9 out of 10 times it crashes x11vnc.

[Bug 1784485] Re: [ZenBook S UX391UA, Realtek ALC294, Mic, Internal] No sound at all

2018-12-24 Thread Santiago Londoño
I managed to solve it in my Asus ZenBook UX433F. I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.
I upgraded the Kernel to v4.19.11 as to Jorge Castro's answer to this question:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/119080/how-to-update-kernel-to-the-
latest-mainline-version-without-any-distro-upgrade

Here are the exact steps I followed:

1. Download the appropriate files from:

https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

For example:

linux-headers-4.19.11-041911_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_all.deb
linux-headers-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb
linux-image-unsigned-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb
linux-modules-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb

2. Install each one in the appropriate order:

sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-4.19.11-041911_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i
linux-headers-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i
linux-modules-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i
linux-image-unsigned-4.19.11-041911-generic_4.19.11-041911.201812191931_amd64.deb

3. Restart. In GRUB choose "Advanced options for Ubuntu". Select the new
Kernel version.

Cheers

[Bug 1774188] Re: Unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds in Xorg sessions (not so much in Wayland sessions)

2018-12-07 Thread Santiago Gala
/metoo

App indicators visible:
* accessibility
* skype (quitting skype does not make any difference)
* remmina (quitting remmina does not make any difference)
* input languages
* standard "network-volume-battery" one
I used to have the indicator-multiload too, but I removed it due to heavy log
spam and unreadable display.

BTW, how can one remove the accessibility or keyboard indicators? I can
no longer find where or how to remove them both, as the only
functionality I need (switch keyboard layouts) is available via key
combo.

[Bug 1784774] Re: snapd is not autofs aware and fails with nfs home dir

2018-09-24 Thread Santiago Castro
I created a patch to workaround this problem:
https://github.com/bryant1410/snapd/commit/a9831da29aba7a4905647ff582061ac399a3b240
It's basically hardcoding a value. I'm not sure what the correct
behavior should be for all the cases that /home is autofs, or if it
should check that /home/user is NFS instead.

So, as a workaround, you can clone the repo, checkout that commit, build
from source as stated in the repo, place the snapd executable in
/usr/local/bin and edit the systemctl service file
(/lib/systemd/system/snapd.service) to point to that executable instead.

[Bug 1792231] [NEW] openssh-client: 'DISPLAY "(null)" invalid; disabling X11 forwarding'

2018-09-12 Thread Santiago Ruano Rincon
Public bug reported:

 affects ubuntu/openssh

Hi,

This bug is present in openssh in ubuntu trusty, I haven't tested other
releases. When X11 forwarding is enabled (via ssh_config, or via -X),
but no DISPLAY is available, ssh client produces this warning:

DISPLAY "(null)" invalid; disabling X11 forwarding

root@ubuntu-trusty:/# unset DISPLAY ; ssh -X ubuntu@localhost 'dpkg -l
openssh-client | grep ii'
ubuntu@localhost's password:
DISPLAY "(null)" invalid; disabling X11 forwarding
ii openssh-client 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2.10
amd64secure shell (SSH) client, for secure access to remote machines

The bug was introduced by the changes to fix CVE-2016-1908.
This upstream change fixes it:

https://anongit.mindrot.org/openssh.git/commit/?id=5658ef2501e785fbbdf5de2dc33b1ff7a4dca73a

[Bug 1768497] Re: Upgrade from 17.10 to 18.04 lost native 3D hardware acceleration for intel UHD 620, laptop is XPS 9370

2018-05-03 Thread Santiago Franco
Ok, found the culprit, for some reason LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE was set to
1, apparently, this tells Ubuntu to use the LLVM renderer. The article
below says this is sometimes set when the GUI does not work correctly or
crashes. I have been lately been switching between Wayland and Xorg,
and had a couple of crashes in Wayland, so maybe it happened on one of
those occasions. This is pure speculation on my part.

I found the solution at https://askubuntu.com/questions/908381/desktop-
stuck-on-software-rendering-libgl-always-software-
set?utm_medium=organic_source=google_rich_qa_campaign=google_rich_qa

Basically, type systemctl --user unset-environment LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE
and reboot, then glxinfo and system settings report the correct UHD
renderer is being used ;-)

Not sure if I should close the bug or not, this is a fix but no idea why
LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE was set to 1. I am happy to collaborate if
anybody wants to investigate it, otherwise, I am also happy if somebody
wants to close it.
